I'll have to update this a little bit more later, but for now please see my reviews for Starters/Starter's, which was the former name of Flanagan's. My most recent reviews for Starters/Starter's are the most relevant ones as the earlier ones were done prior to the changing of the establishment's name.
There isn't anything that I dislike about this place. Awesome people hang out here, the employees are fun and friendly and take the time to get to know you if you're social and outgoing as well. I've known some of them for at least several years a few of them used to work across the street at Cheers (which I still occasionally go to, but not as often as I do Flanagan's). Debbie is a great bartender and host, and Jimmy's cooking is outstanding. I highly recommend coming here during the afternoon between Tuesday-Friday; that is when both of them are working together. They have a cult-like following, it seems - many "regulars" come by only when Debbie and Jimmy are working. (I consider myself to be one of them.) The bar is a lot of fun to be at during other times, too, of course. It seems to be popular during NFL/college football season and formerly was a Packers-based bar, though I do not know if that currently remains true. Stop by during the season to find out! (I am a Giants fan and watch their games in Altamonte Springs.)
I'm comfortable giving Flanagan's a five-star review, even though some or most people might not agree that it is on par with other 5-star-rated establishments. I've been coming here for a long time (pretty much since it opened as Starters/Starter's in the late 2000s, or possibly very late in the 1990s) and have had some great memories and met some amazing people here. It never gets old. As I said earlier, the employees are great and that adds a lot to the experience and pushes it, in my opinion, to being rated as 5 stars. They're awesome people. Some of the "regulars" and employees are going to a Yankees/Rays game in St. Pete next month - that's the type of thing you get to be a part of if you get to know these people and become friendly with them. I'm sure we will have a great time.
A few notes: there are a lot of TVs in here, so if you come by to watch something in particular then you shouldn't have an issue seeing it. Many of the TVs are new (within the last year or a few, I'm pretty sure) and the quality of the picture on nearly all of them is great. There are several pool tables and plenty of dartboards, too. Smoking is permitted inside. There is no outdoor seating. The food, as I mentioned, is great (Jimmy has, as far as I know, made everything I've ever eaten here, and all of it has been outstanding). I thought I recently overheard that menu additions may be coming in the near future, too. There is plenty already on it, though - lots of appetizers (potato skins, quesadillas, etc.) and sandwiches/burgers. I highly recommend the quesadillas, which are a little bit different (in a good way) than how they're prepared at most other places. The filling has corn and black olives in it along with the "usual" ingredients (chicken, cheese, etc.) - I really like both corn and olives, so this adds a lot. They're delicious here. The Blue/Bleu Cheese Chips are fantastic, too. I've never had anything like these anywhere else. I think I described them in an older review for Starters/Starter's, and there may even be a picture of them that I added.
Flanagan's definitely is my favorite bar in the immediate area. Cheers and The Kerryman are fine, too, but if you ask me, I'd say that Flanagan's is the best. Look for me there!
