we consider fleming's to be our neighborhood restaurant. granted, we live in a very nice neighbhorhood::) this is by far one of the best places in st louis to get a steak, get a quick bite to eat at the bar or celebrate a big occasion. the service is unparalled, the ambiance clubby but yet elegant, the wine list is outstanding and the management prob the best there is in the business. there is never anything that isn't accomodated for and always with a smile.
love this place as it gets better with every passing year.
What a fabulous place  . . . and expensive, too! I met business girlfriends for dinner. We uncorked a Greg Norman red (isn't he a golfer? -- I didn't know he did wine, too!) that was quite nice, flavorful and not too dry. Just right!
Lovely parmesan-encrusted bread (I'd say sourdough) served with two spreads: one a sun-dried tomato the other a garlic-feta. Divine.
This was a nearly three-hour dinner, so you must give-way for the lovely company. But Fleming's did just that, too! They gave-way for our timing.
They got the cadence of the meal, and servers and water-refillers were there at just the right times.
This is one big room. But we were in a booth, and felt so sequstered and private, we could have voted for our own Pope.
Everybody opted for filet mignon of some variation. I got the 11-ounce medium rare. It was beautiful and HUGE ($43), was cooked perfectly and was delicious.
Others got the 5-ounce filet ($37), the 8-ounce filet ($39) and one got the special filet that came topped with crab.
Sides, interestingly enough, are ordered "family style," so we got roasted-garlic mashed potatoes, asparagus and  mushrooms to share. Each of these were around $10.
This was some glorious meal. The mashed potatoes were wonderful, the asparagus came with roasted red peppers, and the mushrooms came with roasted garlic. This was beautiful-looking, fabulously prepared and great-tasting food all the way around.
Leftovers abounded.
But wait, there's more. Dessert. Something I absolutely rarely have in a restaurant.
Ordered were: The lava chocloate cake. The cheesecake. The creme brulee.
Since I didn't order dessert, the lava chocolate cake shared with me. If you want this, you should order ahead, because it takes 10 minutes.
We were gabbing, so the 10 minutes didn't mean anything to us.
It was HUGE. Not just this massive chocolately chocolate crunchy-on-the-outside cake oozing runny rivers of chocolate from the inside -- but two scoops of ice cream and two wafer-thin totally crunchy chocolate chip cookies. Holy mackerel!! This was crazy good.
I'm voting for THAT Pope!
Cheesecake looked like New York Cheesecake -- very firm and rich, served with blueberries. She loved it.
Creme brulee was in a lower and more spread-out container than I've usually seen it. I tried it. It was OK. The crack was a little lame. It was served with an accoutrement of raspberries.
I got a massive to-go vessel, as all my dining partners are from out of town. And, fabulously, one of my recyclable to-go containers held a whole loaf of that lovely bread. What a generous touch!!
Bingo! Score! Thank you, Fleming's, for appreciating our patronage!
When we left, two servers were holding open doors for us. And there was an empty car running outside that was better than my car. No, I didn't do it!
This was valet service and last night, it could have been useful with the cold and penetrating wind that prevailed.
5* service. For being a a chain this place was amazing. Reserved on their website and told them it was the g/f birthday. Service was amazing. I can't explain how awesome the staff was. After our meal they gave my gf desert and the whole staff signed a bday card and gave her a $25 gift card for future visit. Its quite expensive but well worth it for special occasions.
Review Source:A tremendous dining experience! My date was a little taken aback when our server shook hands with us at the outset of our meal. It was a very nice gesture by a very competent server but in light of a catastrophic flu season it was a bit uncomfortable. Â Moving on, Â the service was excellent throughout. The delectable foods were first rate. Our steak was cooked to perfection. The Cajun grilled shrimp was superb. The carrot cake...the best. Â The GM was very nice and made sure we were happy. Â We were and we will be back. Loved it!
Review Source:My wife and I have been to this location on several different occasions, and each time was great. Â First off, I love their bread. Â I always want to eat three or four loaves worth of this stuff, which tends to have an affect on the rest of my dinner. Â Either way, the steaks are always good and flavorful, as are the salads and desserts. Â I don't drink much wine, but I did think it was cool that they bring you an iPad to review the wine list. Â It seems that many of the upscale restaurants are going that route these days. Â The decor of the restaurant is very nice as well. Â If you're looking to treat your wife to a nice dinner/date night, Fleming's would certainly be a great choice.
Review Source:Black or white napkins? :: This restaurant accommodates for any needs that you may have. Obviously it is on the expensive end, however if you are looking for an exquisite, romantic, or business related dinner, this is the place. Â It provides an intimate environment, and the service is top notch. They will match the napkin with your guest's skirt for goodness sakes. Reservations were simple, and doors were held, coats were taken immediately. The food being great is a given. I enjoyed every bit of my meal, and like most nicer places, they offer prix fixe for those who like to sample food.
Review Source:Quite a disapointment. Â Two of the four of us ordered prime rib. Â It was very tough. Â I sent mine back. Â They came out with a new piece that was equally tough. Â They offered to give me another cut of meat but by the time it would have been served everyone else would have been pretty much done. Â So, I told them to forget it and after sawing through about half of the prime rib I gave up an left the rest. Â For the prices charged at this steakhouse everything should be top notch, no exceptions, no excuses. Â If the meat is not up to standards they should take it off the menu rather than serve it. Â They did not charge me for the prime rib but I would much rather pay full price and get what I was paying for. No more Flemings for me. Â One other thing. Â I ordered a glass of white wine and it was inapproriately served at room temperature.
Review Source:Consistently Superb! We had a recent dinner here with friends and family and everything was nearly perfect. Server was outstanding, iPad wine list helped us make the right decision for wine and STEAKS were a 10/10. Â OUTSTANDING. Â The best Fleming's in the chain. Â Perfect for friends, family or business. Location is very central and the restaurant itself is warm and upscale. While a jacket is not required, it's a generally dressy crowd. Service is very alert, professional and smart. Â Filet and strip are both amazing. Â Sauces add bright flavors and sides are large and loaded with flavor. Â They have a stellar wine list that is heavy on the top-shelf California Cabs--perfect for steaks. Â You can bring your own wine for a moderate corkage fee. Tables are not too close together and booths feel somewhat private. For a more causal night, you can sit at a bar booth. I hear they have great happy hour specials. Â Depending on what you order--you bill can be high, but we've found it WORTH every penny.
NOTE: Meals here can take some time, so don't be in a huge hurry AND don't bring children who do not want to sit still for a couple hours. This place caters to a long adult dinner with 3-5 courses, lots of wine and a relaxed meal.
SERVICE: A+
STEAKS: A+
Atmosphere: A
NOTE: One of the BEST Fleming's in the US
NOTE: At or near the top for Steak in St. Louis (Annie Gunns and Ruth's Chris are close. Some friends like Citizen Kane and Sam's too. Our Morton's is good, but our Fleming's is better. )
Oh, Lordy. Â I don't know how I can write a review that fully conveys how much I enjoyed my meal here. Â So let me do it by way of comparison. Â Have you eaten at Stoney River? Â I like Stoney River a lot. Â Now take everything you have at Stoney River, and raise it up a notch. Â I mean everything....The service (plates barely empty before being removed, glasses never get completely empty, etc.), the salad (lots and lots of cranberries, big pieces of candied walnut), New York strip (double thick, extra buttery flavor, still fork tender), sauteed mushrooms (includes sliced portobello mushrooms with the button mushrooms, garlic cloves, but not overpowering), the au gratin potatoes (cheesier, semi-crispy top from oven baking), lava cake (includes cinnamon ice cream on a tasty cookie. Â And of course, the price is a notch above, too.
Okay, so maybe you think I'm exaggerating. Â But it's true. Â I started noticing when the potatoes came out, then noticed it with everything. Â This was really good food, very attentive service, and a nice nice time.
Food is delicious and the staff is kind and well trained. Â We found it a little overbearing as we were often interrupted with questions about the food/service and we just wanted to chat more privately. Â I feel like they treat everyone the same and should read their customers better.
Review Source:I probably never would have dined at Flemings, as I try to steer away from chain restaurants, but when some good friends gifted us with a gift card, my husband and I went for our anniversary.
They earned their full 5 stars from the very beginning....
I called to make a last minute (same day) dinner reservation, I noticed that they were closed when I called late afternoon, so I was pleasantly surprised when they answered and were not rude or annoyed. The hostess asked if we were celebrating a special occasion and when I spelled my last name for the reservations, she even asked me how to pronounce it. This, by far, was the most delightful reservation I have ever made.
Upon arrival, they wished us a happy anniversary (and pronounced our name correctly) and said that our table would be ready in just a moment. We headed to the bar and as soon as we got our drinks, the hostess came over to escort us to our table. It was nice that they did not just call our name. She offered to carry my martini to the table. But not in that stuffy/snobby way, she made a joke that she would have to worry about not spilling it, not me.
The waiter also greeted us by name and wished us a happy anniversary. The food and service was perfect; I cannot think of a single thing that would have made it better.
When I got up to find the restroom, they even escorted me there, but once again, not it that awkward, stop walking with me kind of  way, he made a joke that if I made a wrong turn and ended up in the kitchen that they may put me to work.
Top notch service, without making you feel awkward and AMAZING food!
The true test came when I went back a second time several months later and the experience was just as great.
Brought my wife here for her birthday and had a great time! Â
The food was delicious. Â I had the filet, and my wife had a shrimp entree. Â We shared the Mac & Cheese which was awesome! Â We also ordered cocktails which were the best! Â I had the Remy Sidecar, and she had the Skinny Farmer's Daughter (I think). Â Both were top notch.
While the food & drinks were top-tier, its the quality of service that makes Flemming's one of the best restaurants that I've dined at here in STL. Â From the moment we pulled in, to when we left, the crew made use feel special at all times.
Five Stars.
The food was delicious. Our group had a variety of Filet preparations. All were amazing and cooked to perfection. The sides are family style so we got to try a few different sides. The Blue Cheese Mashed potatoes and asparagus were excellent.
But what makes this stand out for me is the great service. By far and away the best service of any restaurant I have been to in a very long time - and that includes a wonderful evening spent at Annie Gunn's over the holidays.
It's pricey, but it was a Wow! evening.
Another awesome experience at Flemings nets another Woohoo!
This place is the bee-knees of steakhouses in St. Louis. Impeccable service from the valet to the wait-staff. Delicious drinks slung from pleasant folks behind the bar. Steaks cooked to perfection! I'm a fan!
My wife and I recently joined up with some friends celebrating their anniversary and the night couldn't have gone better at Flemings. An incredible Sunday dinner special featuring an 8oz. filet with lobster tail for $35!
Flemings is definitely worth checking out.
Well...I'm trying to convince myself to give Fleming's four stars but I can't. I went in with high expectations and maybe that's the problem. My steak (center cut fillet) was very good, cooked exactly to temperature and served in a very reasonable time. But it wasn't the best I've ever had in St. Louis. (That distinction still belongs to Citizen Cane's and Sam's.) My wife ordered the salmon and again not the best we've ever had.
The service was very good and the price more reasonable than I expected based on comments from friends. I will definitely give Fleming's a second chance and would still recommend it. Too many other Yelper's love it and I think we can get a better experience too.
Tip: The restaurant is a large (open-air) squared shaped building and it gets rather noisy in the middle. If you like a more intimate meal, I suggest you request a booth when you make your reservation. We asked for one after they seated us at a table and were told none were available. As we left, about an hour later, two were still empty. Another reason for only three stars.
Barely 24 hours later, I'm STILL gushing about my dinner at Fleming's. Oh so good. Oh so delicious. Oh so wonderful. If this isn't love, I don't know what is!!
First things first: ah-maze-ing service. I'm struggling right now to remember when I've had such great service and honestly, I don't know if anywhere I've been (that's comparable to Fleming's in terms of price & atmosphere) can top the service at Fleming's! Complimentary valet, coat check at the door, and our server, Courtney... just such great service!
Anyway, enough gushing abt the service cause I gotta save some of that gush for the food! My friend and I both got the lite filet mignon (6 oz) and we each subbed the Fleming's potatoes with chipotle mac&cheese and garlic mashed potatoes. My friend went with medium well and our server suggested getting it butterflied -- something that really stuck out to me because I remember going to another steakhouse where it would've been best that my steak be butterflied and the server didn't tell me this until I had to send the steak back. The servers at Fleming's got your back, Jack!
A short wait later came our steaks: delicious, divine, don't-think-it-can-really-get-much-better-than-Âthis. My steak came out just as I wanted it -- medium and perfectly pink in the middle! In between bites, we gushed about our steaks: how good the quality of the meat, how it was perfectly seasoned, and how both the sides perfectly complemented the steak.
While we were enjoying our steaks, our server asked us about the desserts because one of them, the lava cake, needed to be prepared ahead of time so that it would be ready just as we finished our steaks. Not ones to turn down melting chocolate with ice cream (two scoops of Blue Bell vanilla ice cream -- the Texan inside of me was squealing inside!), we opted for the lava cake....
And boy am I glad we did! The cake was just perfect and nothing about the name of the dessert was a misnomer -- the chocolate did come oozing out like lava. The ice cream was served perched on top of something crispy and most likely fried, but dipped in the melty chocolate, I couldn't care less what that crispy deliciousness was. It wasn't too sweet and not TOO terribly rich that we couldn't finish it -- er well, most of it. We did just eat a 6 oz steak!
I'm really glad I went to Fleming's and although I don't know when I'll be back again (a combination of the price, other places to try at STL, and time -- NOT at all a reflection on the restaurant itself), at least I'll always have Yelp to remind me of the good memories!
My wife and I dined here to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary.
We used the online system to make a reservation. Â It was way easy to use, and as we arrived at Flemings, the hostess immediately showed us to our table. Â No Seinfeld issues with reservations here. Â The restaurant was pretty busy on a Friday night, so this first impression was a big one.
We were given a nice table for two and were greeted by our server, James who was all in all really good as was his assistant. Â Our needs were met all night, including full water and soda.
We tried the Crab cakes as an appetizer and they were fabulous.
The kitchen got backed up a bit and our steaks took awhile to get cooked and out to us. Â The manager came by to see us, greeted us by name, congratulated us on our anniversary and apologized.
We each had Caesar salads, which were good, nothing to rave about and for the price were actually a bit disappointing.
We each had Filets which were cooked perfectly. Â We shared a half & half platter as a side and it was off the mark. Â Onion Rings were huge and pretty good. Â Fries were barely warm which left them limp and unappealing. Â The sides are the only thing I would I would caution anyone about.
At the conclusion, we were given a "Celebration" cake and a personal card signed by the entire staff of the restaurant offering congratulations on our annivesary.
To recap, this is a great restaurant. Â The steak I had here is every bit as good as one of their main competitors, Ruth's Chris. Â The service was AMAZING, they took supremely good care of us. Â The sides are a bit of a weak spot compared to other places, they claim family style, in actuality, they are a bit small.
Fleming's does steak sooooooo right........
Every single time I go I get a petite filet and they cook it to perfection at medium rare every time!
My grandma, brother and I enjoyed a lovely bottle of Riesling together and the Tuna appetizer. Â The tuna was spicy, definitely had a kick to it, and it was gobbled up in just a few seconds. Â The Tuna was rare and delicious.
We all had steaks: cooked medium rare.
We shared: sauteed spinach and the cheesy jalapeno potatoes: divine || cheesy || delicious
Again, Felming's does steak right. Â Medium Rare, pinky red center, a little juicy, amazing.
I don't eat red meat very often (or ever really), but when I go to Felming's I make an exception.
yum.
I came to Saint Louis to visit my wife's parents. We stopped by Fleming's one evening and I wasn't really sure what to expect. While I know STL is great for BBQ and Toasted Ravioli (random), I had no idea how the steak was. In NYC, the competition is pretty fierce so my expectations were low.
I must admit, when I opened the menu and saw 3 different sizes of filet mignon as the first three items listed in the steak section, those expectation sank even lower. I went back and forth between the bone-in ribeye and the NY strip and settled on the latter.
I must say, the NY Strip was GREAT. Perfectly cooked and very well seasoned. The same can be said with the service and all of the other food items. I came away really impressed and will definitely make it a point to come back the next time we are in town.
My mom and I stopped off here after a show at the Frontenac Landmark Cinema. Having gotten our dose of culture, were were ready for some bargain-priced drinks and apps.
We opted to sit at the bar, which was not crowded. In a way, this was expected, as it was a Monday night, but on the other hand, I would have expected more of a turnout, given the heated Cardinals-Brewers matchup--even though the TVs in the bar area were smallish, the decibel level was sure to be lower than at a sports bar. Since I was not here for the game, I could turn my attention to the food and drink specials.
For my drink, I went with the Chardonnay, a respectable California pour. My mom ordered the martini. It looked good, and the olives were plentiful, always a plus in my book.
For food, I went with the ahi tuna appetizer. My mom ordered the portobello, goat cheese & spinach burger which came with an iceburg wedge and onion rings. The onion rings that I sampled were very good, almost addictive, and the wasabi served with my ahi was definitely spicy--not what I would expect from a chain venue. I was pleased with the quality of food and drink, and the efficiency of the service. Seeing as how this happy hour special is in operation every day of the week, until 7 pm during the day, I will definitely be stopping by again.
I am not sure what happened to my opinion of this place after I went to Morton's but I am pretty sure it may have gone down.
I have been here twice, once for a celebratory dinner before our first child was born and another for a yet again free Business lunch meating.
The first time I was actually really impressed with everything but the steak which is what I paid most for. The appetizer of onion rings and straws was incredible and we got a ton of the onion rings because they said one fell of the plate so they brought us like 5 more.
The salad was awesome which didn't surprise me but the New York Strip I ordered was not that great.
I will admit right off the top that I was not sure what I was getting into with the aged beef thing. I guess maybe it has a different taste but it didn't taste good. I always say that it tasted like a cow and people are like well isn't is supposed to taste like a Cow? Yes but not like a cows rear end, also there was a lot of sinew that I had to cut off. Which I found out I could have had done by the cook, newb mistake I guess.
Either way the second time I ordered the filet and it just was not as good as what I would have expected. Morton's crushes them in this aspect.
I really liked the service both times but sometimes it just doesn't make up for the lack of taste in the food.
Pricey place to eat, but it was the best steak I have ever eaten in my life. Â I got a special for the day which was a 30 day dry aged strip topped with some pesto and blue cheese. Â There was just enough smoke flavor in the meat to balance out the seasoning of the pesto and blue cheese. Â I got the flemming's potatoes as a side, but could only eat about a third of them because I got so filled up on the steak. Â Definately a place to go to impress someone. Â The reason I say pricey is because I usually don't eat at high end places like this. Â If you put the awesome service, decor, and food into perspective then it is definately well worth the price. Â Ended up spending about $125 with tip for two of us.
Review Source:This review is for their happy hour. Â May be one of the best if not the best upscale happy hour in the city. Â Starts at 5PM, try to get there by 6PM if you want to find a seat. Â The happy hour is only in the bar area, and it isn't that big. Â Great menu, we've had $6 burgers, TENDERLOIN CARPACCIO, seared ahi tuna, and SWEET CHILE CALAMARI. Â All were really great. Â Also can order off the menu if you want. Â The martini specials are all very tasty and they also have wine certain glasses of wine on happy hour special as well. Â We've already been there a couple times and I am sure will be going back again.
Review Source:I often take people here for business dinners, and it has always been a great experience.
I always show up a little early, so I have a chance to sit at the bar and eat some of their chips that are just wonderful. Â Even if you dont show up early and your group wants to relax with a drink at the bar first the staff is not pushy about getting you seated. Â They are more than willing to hold the table for you while you unwind before dinner. Â
The wine selection is very good. Â We usually end up with 1 or 2 bottles from the reserve list and have yet to be disappointed. Â The wait staff that we have had all know their wines and can talk about them beyond what it says on the bottle or on some guide. Â Decanters are available if requested with no hassle. Â
I have had a wide selection of the entrées and again was not disappointed in any of it.  Everything has always been coked perfectly.  As for the sides I would have to say their best in the mac and Cheese!
I have been here quite a few times and it has been a great experience except once, so 4 stars.
Recently we went on a Monday night and I was very pleased with the food and service.
The bread was delicious and it was difficult to choose which type of butter to put on each slice. So I just went back and forth between the two. They were very different, but each delightfully seasoned.
We split the wedge salad and this was the perfect portion size.
I had the 12 oz. fillet Mignon special. This fillet was (obviously) huge and accompanied by mashed potatoes and green beans, which were all prepared perfectly. The special sauce was to die for. My friend tried it and then asked for some on his steak as well. He had the bone-in fillet, which was also perfectly prepared.
For dessert, we couldn't choose, so split the creme brulee and also the mixed berries with creme. Both excellent!
We did not get there in time for happy hour, but the specials were truly that! Very reasonable and a good option if you want to indulge without breaking the bank.
I have to say the valet went above and beyond too. We did not valet, but it was raining when we left, so he asked the server if the valet could go get the car and they did. He gave them the key. Valet had no problem finding it once they hit the panic button and I didn't ruin my new suede shoes. It was a great evening!
I was a little anxious choosing this restaurant for my birthday dinner, considering how uneven the on-line reviews were... and that's exactly what we ended up getting is an uneven night. Â Four of us dined there, and all four had steaks. Â I had the "lite filet" (6 ounces - came with a bite sized portion of the Flemings potatoes, which was perfect for me, since I really just wanted to try them), another had the "petite" (8 ounces) and the two manly men had the "main" (12 ounce) Oscar style. Â The two smaller steaks were perfectly cooked, well season. Â The larger steaks had issues. Â One had an entire corner of nothing but fat, at least an ounce worth. Â At that point it wasn't worth complaining about since he was done anyway. Â The other was *not* a center cut filet. Â It was fatty and had gristle throughout. Â I do think that if the recipient of the steak had pointed it out to the server, they would have replaced it. Â That's not his style though, and really.. why is Fleming's serving a filet that is obviously not center cut? Â
The rest of the meal was great. Â Fresh bread with two kinds of butter was plentiful. Â We had mashed potatoes and green beans as sides, both good. Service was attentive, the restaurant is nicely decorated.. a little noisy on a Saturday night, but not too bad.
Chocolate lava cake to end the evening... phenomenal.. highly recommend it! Â The four of us shared the one dessert, since we were pretty stuffed after steak.
The bill was fairly reasonable, for a nice steak place. Â Don't go if you're expecting Outback prices. Â If you're used to Morton's, Ruth's Chris or Jeff Ruby's, this place's bill won't come as a surprise.
Definitely for special occasions. Fleming's is a classy joint.
I got the Bone-In Filet and it was excellent. My wife got a three-course meal (salad, braised cut of beef, and dessert) and loved every course. Also, would highly recommend the blue cheese butter on the mashed potatoes and the chocolate lava cake.
Every thing we ate was great. The wine selection was great, but the one I selected (Irony Pinor Noir) was so-so. The service was excellent as well.
Overall, worth every penny and would recommend it highly. I don't give it five stars only because it is a chain. Gotta reserve the highest ranks for the locals!
I still can't believe how much we ate at our anniversary dinner at Fleming's! Â Thank goodness for the gift certificate and our healthy appetites.
The Cajun barbecue shrimp appetizer had a delicious kick and disappeared all too quickly, but our steaks and three sides (Fleming's potatoes, chipotle macaroni and cheese and sauteed spinach) were right behind it. Â My petit filet was cooked perfectly, Justin enjoyed his steak and we tried to figure out the recipe for those Fleming's potatoes while we savored every bite. Â Fresh berries with Chantilly cream brought the meal to a sweet close and I probably could've fallen comfortably into a food coma right there in my chair. Â Since we ordered like pigs, we had plenty of leftovers and everything reheated nicely the next day for lunch.
The service was quite good, but I noticed something interesting. Â I realize Fleming's is an upscale place (even if it's a chain), so their service is expected to be impeccable and professional. Â Our server started out attentive and professional, but almost to a fault. Â She wasn't cold--more timid, like she couldn't be herself or something. Â Anyway, Justin and I are pretty laid back kids and once we were able to convey that to her, she loosened up as well. Â That does not mean our service suffered--in fact, I'd say it was even better because our server ended up having a really warm personality and she continued to be attentive to our needs. Â
As an anniversary gift, we were presented with a box of chocolate-covered giant strawberries and a card signed by the folks on staff that night. Â Definitely a nice touch! Â
It's likely we wouldn't have made the trip to Fleming's if we hadn't had a gift certificate, but I'm glad we had the chance to check it out. Â The food was delicious and our server turned out to be a doll. Â I'd happily go back--especially if someone else is footing the bill!
I'm a vegetarian...I can't eat a darn thing here. Â It's kind of annoying, but that's not why I am giving them five stars (obviously, who gives five stars for THAT?).
I have to say, I am a HUGE fan of the happy hour here. Â They have amazing specials, both on drinks and food, and it makes going to a fancy schmancy place like this a possibility for the poorer folk like myself. Â Even for the happy hour, the service is AMAZING here and the drinks are incredibly delicious. Â If you want to sample this place before dropping a lot of dough and you want to really KNOW what you are getting into, come to the happy hour. Â You will not be disappointed and you won't spend a lot of money. Â AMAZING.
Fleming's is an upscale chain of steakhouses (brought to you by the folks from Outback) that does things so much better than their faux-Aussie counterparts. Their wine list is superb, and when I do a wine flight, I have always been presented with great examples by the wait staff. My favorite is the filet, and in the four or five times I've visited, I have never had an overcooked steak. The Flemings potatoes are excellent, and so are the shoestring potatoes. Try the mashed potatoes with blue cheese (sense a theme here with starches?) or the creamed corn (damnation, it's good!) On Sundays, they have a prime rib special. The wait staff is absolutely professional, and the atmosphere can be rather romantic (unless there's a table of obnoxious business guys, as we experienced one night.) In all, I really look forward to a meal here.
Review Source:Simply delicious.
I've been lucky enough on two occasions to be treated to a four-course meal here. This is definitely in the higher price range, but worth it for a special meal.
I've had their seared ahi tuna and bruschetta as appetizer...yum. I actually got the tuna complimentary because they had accidentally made two for the table next to me. That's service! The spinach and portabello salad is also a must-try, if just for the crispy goat cheese on top.
I've also tried their steak, seafood and stuffed chicken. If I had to choose, I'd go with the steak. Top-grade meat cooked to perfection. All of their sides are rich and are large portions. The comment earlier about not stepping on a scale after dining here is so true!
The wine selection is also good. You are surrounded by the wine rooms, which adds to the ambiance. I was treated to a $150 bottle of champagne, so that only added to the experience. Yes, I am spoiled!
Waiter: Wine by the glass sir?
Me: Why yes what are you offering?
Waiter: Here is volume one of our selection I'll have gilberto wheel in volume two.
SERIOUSLY aside from Annie Gunns you can't find a better wine list in St Louis. Over 200 wines by the glass.
It is unfortunate that this is a chain of restaurants but they redeem the 1 star that I would normally take away, because their service was incredible. Â Never had to touch the wine bottle, glasses were always full and table etiquete was followed perfectly.
On to the food... Â The calimari while It probably belongs on PF Changs menu was delicious with a decidedly asian flare. Â The bone in Rib Eye I had was prepared to a perfect medium rare, the Steak au poivre was prepared rare for the girlfriend, both delicious. Â Now for the serious stuff the side dish of sugar snap peas with a little aisian sauce great but the Potatos Fleming Holy Crap I think they're illegal in 8 states a layer of potato then cheese then jalepenos, repeat, repeat, repeat.... Â I don't know the cheese to potato to jalepenos ratio but you have to get this!!!!
