I tend not to hit a lot of sport bars, unless they have dart boards.

This is one I will make an exception for, good drinks, good good, and great service.

They have a nice selection of beer and drinks, every time I have been there the food has been really good, and I've never had a problem with it. Don't get a chance to get out there too often, but it's a good place to hit for a happy hour!

I went here spur of the moment with a buddy who lives in the area, as we were hungry for lunch.  He said he has been here numerous times and liked it, so even though my friend (and frequent eating companion) Elle P said to avoid it I went in to try it.
First off lets talk about atmosphere.  I really enjoyed it.  They had music videos playing on many of the TVs and the music was being piped through the speakers around the establishment.  They also had sports on the TVs (assuming you consider NASCAR a sport).
The wait staff were all attractive which is always a huge plus lol and very friendly.  I will say my water ran low a few times, same with my friend's soda.  The waitress forgot the lemon in my water as well the first time but upon delivery she remembered it and quickly got me a few to add myself, which I give her props for.
I really wanted a burger and I decided on the ranch hand burger cooked medium.  I also ordered the bratwurst cheese soup, because it sounded great.  The soup was very good however instead of sautéed onions it had green onions added; I don't think this is bad though because it still tasted great.  The burger was also very good, but a little over cooked.  The fries looked like they were going to be seasoned but I was disappointed by fries that were nothing special.
Atmosphere gets 4/5.  Staff gets a 2/5.  Food gets a 3/5.  Overall I give this place a solid 3/5 rating and I agree with yelp's opinion of that being a-ok!

Fox and Hound is one of those places that isn't particularly unique or special, but it will still draw you back for more.  Their happy hour beer specials are very good, and their speciality drinks are pretty delicious as well.  In fact they have one that is horribly embarassing to order but I love it.  Its called the "fruit loopy".  I usually just point to it on the menu, because I don't want anyone to hear it being said aloud.  It is very sweet, reminds me of liquid sweettarts, but when I'm in the mood for such a drink, there is none better!  Their food is also pretty good here for bar food.  Their wings are pretty solid, and I absolutely love their pretzels!

So when there is a game on that you want to see, head over here and watch it.  They have so many tv's that it damn near gives you a seizure... but in a totally good way.  Two of which are huge projectors with two different games on at any given time.

Also hot tip... they have free shuffle board in the back room if you request the pucks!  Enjoy!

We went here with some pals on the way to Tilles Park for a Carriage Ride.  Food was mediocre at best.  My order of fries had about 7 of them in it.  Seriously, I spend over a hundred bucks here and  you give me 7 freaking french fries?  That's page one out of how to run customers off for 50 cents!

I like Fox and Hound for its bar.  F&H is generally my happy hour or late night destination.  The bar has a rediculous amount of beers on tap along with a respectable amount in bottles.  The bar food is delicious; try the fried pretzel pieces with nacho cheese.  The bar is spacious with a side room with darts and additional tables.  F&H is a good place to watch televised sports (baseball, football) and usually has specials for fantasy sports team drafts.

Bar service can be limited or spotty at times.  While friendly, I think the formula used to determine the number of servers needed requires rework.  I visited one evening and had to wait for the bartender to finish making out with a woman across the bar before getting his attention that I required a refill.

I've had an odd set of experiences with Fox and Hound.  I have eaten here three times, I think, with each experience being better than the last.  However, this review is based on my last experience, which you may notice is 3 stars.  It's not a bad place, as I'll explain later, just not top of the line.

As for my first two times...maybe it just took them a couple years to get it together.  Or maybe the waitstaff (and kitchen?) quality is highly variable, and I've just happened to get a better person this last time.  I'll not focus excessively on the earlier visits.  Let me just say that the food was passable, and the service was about the same.

This past time, though, was fairly enjoyable.  Not quite 4 star quality, but still a solid 3 for me.  One funny thing about the place...it's fairly well appointed, with solid fixtures and some pretty awesome walls of biiig, bright TVs, but when you walk in the front vestibule, it smells pretty strongly of stale beer.  As soon as I came through the entryway, though, the smell was gone.  It's like they spray the beer smell in the entry so that you get a dive-y sports bar vibe.  Other atmosphere touches: a lot of food is served in wire baskets, glasses are plastic, music is realllly loud - which is okay for a sports bar, but not necessarily the greatest when you are in the separate restaurant area.

Our waitress for this visit was pretty pleasant, with quick service throughout the night, and kept our glasses full.  It does bug me, however, that had that little flash of disappointment/irritation in her eyes/voice when we just wanted water.  Yeah, I know that means the bill is lower, so your tip it probably smaller.  But I'm going to tip you over 20% if you do a good job, to help you make a living off my smaller bill.  Don't just assume I'm cheap (like I'm doing about you now).  I'm not drinking alcohol, so if you want me to buy drinks, then give me choices that aren't all sugar and/or caffeine.  I order something when I get the choice.  This isn't a problem just with that waitress, I see it from time to time from servers everywhere.

I didn't really know what I wanted, so I wound up ordering the Play Action Platter appetizer for my meal ($16.49).  It's pretty much food for one person, and I only ate about 2/3 of it.  It was tasty though!  I got the hot honey sauce for my 6 or 8 wings (can't remember exactly how many), which the waitress recommended - just the right mix of sweet and heat.  4 potato skins were typical - I liked dipping them in the wings' ranch sauce rather than plain sour cream, gives more interest to the flavor.  4 bavarian soft pretzels were quite good - soft, salty, sweet, all in one - cheese sauce was good, too - but there was only about half of the amount I needed.  Finally the mozzarella sticks were typical, but tasty.

My wife ordered the chicken tenders ($9.99), with onion rings instead of fries.  I didn't taste the chicken, but she did give me an onion ring.  It was much tastier than I expected.  Not that it didn't look good.  In fact it looked pretty tasty, too.  But its flavor exceeded...tempura batter had a good, seasoned flavor, and onion inside was sweet & tender so that it didn't all pull out when bitten.

I saw that other reviews ranged the gamut.  Perhaps it depends on when you are there and who serves you.  but for me this time, it was a pretty good time.

This is one of those times I wish Yelp would allow us to review separately the food and the atmosphere/wait staff because I would 4 star the food, 2 star the wait staff.

On our quest to try new places, I saw this on Groupon and thought why not.  We went on a Saturday night and were seated right away.  Our waitress didn't seem too happy to be at work, took our drink order and before we had a chance to even look at the menu wanted to know what we wanted.  I had to flag her down to get any type of refill or sweetener for my tea as it was not on the table already.  We ordered the Bavarian pretzels (yum) for an appetizer and were disappointed to see that it came with barely any cheese dip for the 4 large pretzels in our basket.  She took our food order and that was the last we saw of her for the night until it was time for the check.  My husband ordered the chicken entree and I ordered the Hot Fox sandwich, both were great but very disappointed in the amount of french fries I got with my sandwich (a total of 10 maybe).  Luckily the taste made up for the quantity.

Apparently if you're in a wedding party that comes in for like 10 min or another party, that is more important to this particular waitress.  She came over, saw we needed our check and refills, and told us she had to deliver drinks to the two parties and make sure they were ok before she could even process/give us our check and that process took 20 min (I ended up timing her because of earlier) while she filled up my glass finally with hot ice tea and no fresh ice added to the cup.

Unfortunately I could not grab the manager to express my concerns as he only made the rounds once and at the time we had no issues that had started.

I would love to say I might return to this establishment in the future but I'm not quite sure.  Its great to watch the games, which we would do there but there needs to be better and attentive wait staff - even if I'm not a part of a wedding party!

Meh.  That is what describes this place.  It is nothing special, nothing ordinary.  I went here with a few girls to catch up and was unimpressed.  It was "Little Black Dress" night where they were having specials on the LBD liquor and the waitresses wore LBD.  Some of the dresses they wore were very inappropriate for an eating establishment unless you're like Hooters.  The waitresses were slightly snotty as well.  Ours had no idea the specials, couldn't really answer questions well, and didn't appear to know what was going on - disappointing.  She also didn't do good water refills, I was out at least once and was quite thirsty with her no where in site.  She took 10 years to get us our bills and then another 10 years to get them paid.  I am not sure what was up with her.

I ordered the nachos which came out looking quite amazing and a HUGE amount but they were not that great.  I've had far better nachos at other places like Applebees.  There was like no salsa, it was so dry, the chips were kinda weird, it was just blah.  All in all I most likely will not be back unless someone really wants to go here and I'm with a group of people.

My boyfriend and I came here on Labor Day afternoon.  We got there about 1:45 because we wanted to beat the lunch special going on until 2:00.  We were greeted at the door by an older woman who couldn't have seemed less than thrilled to see us.  We were seated immediately and our waitress stopped by a minute later to acknowledge us and tell us she would be right with us.  She was finishing up with a table of about 8 people.  She came by and took our drink order and then left again to go ring up their tickets.  After a few minutes of her taking care of their checks, my boyfriend made a joke that she was stalling so we would be served after 2:00 and be charged full price for our meals.  Few more minutes passed and our waters finally came out but our order still had not been taken.  Our order was finally taken and I checked the time right when she left and it was 2:01.  I ordered the fish and my boyfriend had a burger.  Our food came out at a reasonable time but it looked like crap.  I had probably 10 french fries next to my burned fish and my boyfriend said his burger was definitely a frozen patty that was thrown onto the grill.  We were not impressed.  We're not the type of people to send our meals back, so we bit our tongues and learned our lesson.  The waitress stopped by once while we were eating, and as soon as she asked how we were doing, she got distracted and walked away before we could answer.  We waited for about 15 minutes after our food was gone for her to take our plates and bring the checks out.  We got separate checks.  For some reason, she gave me the $5.99 lunch special that we came for, but charged my boyfriend full price for his meal.  When he asked her about it, she said, 'Well, the ticket was put in AFTER 2:00.'  His response?  'Well, we got here BEFORE 2:00.'  She seemed irritated that he had called her out and, without apologizing, said she would go get her manager.  The manager immediately came out and addressed the issue with sincerity.  The only hospitable person we had interacted with thus far.  She fixed the ticket, apologized for the inconvenience and thanked us for coming in.  Needless to say, the waitress did not receive a good tip from either of us and we will most likely never go back.  Sad, because it seems like a cool place.  Maybe at night when it's more busy, it's a better place to eat.  Unfortunately, we did not have a good first impression.

I stopped by after showing property to clients (i had a groupon that was expiring lol).

I started with the pretzel bites which were Delicious. My main course was not the greatest though. I got the beer batter chicken and fries. Fries portion was very small for a $10 entree. the chicken was dry and did not taste the greatest, it was hot though.

They do have nice wifi access so I can work and watch the game with no issues.

Just another pub/sport bar with a lot of big screen TV's on the walls.

Beer battered Fish and Chips, Fries, and cole slaw $9.99 ( 3 pieces kinda greasy)
Beer battered Chicken Tenders and Fries $9.99  (6 pieces) served with dipping sauce.

What I did not like was the food was served in a metal basket lined with waxed paper. Our soft drinks and water were served in plastic cups.

Service was nice enough but I would not make this a destination location again. This one goes in the been there-done that category.

I really don't like eating here but my dad (who is also my boss) always wants to take my coworkers and I here...so I end up here pretty frequently. I try to like it but I just can't! Maybe it's because it smells weird in there, or it's just the real blah-ness of the food. It is truly nothing special. Once I had a chicken caesar salad that tasted like dirty dish water. Sick. There are a lot of tvs in there which is good when you're watching a game, but otherwise I try to avoid it.

We've been there many times, always trying to give it a second chance. Their drink deals are not very good, the food is not very good. Terrible Happy Hour deals!!

We ordered the sampler platter and it looked like it had been sitting around for a while out back. DISGUSTING! Some waitresses are friendly, others just seem like they don't really care.

One good thing about it, other than the massive amounts of TVs they have are their burgers. but if you're looking for some drinks + apps there are defiantly a lot of other choices to go to in the area.

My wife and I had dinner on 6/15/12 and went back for lunch on 6/16/12 because of our experience at dinner.  When we walked in the first of two entrance doors the second door was promptly opened by the hostess and she greeted us with a smile.  We chose to sit at the bar.  They have a huge selection of plasma TV's which was great to watch the cardinals game and the US open on.

The waitress, Erika, came over to greet us and told us about the specials up front.  She offered a couple of drink ideals and took our order.  We received our drinks very quickly even though they were extremely busy.  We placed our order and received it extremely quickly as well.  We sat and enjoyed dinner and drinks for a while and it was a great experiece all around.

Finally, the manager Suzanne came by our table to introduce herself and make sure our dinner was going great.  I was taken back by this because we eat at a lot of restaurants and very rarely do any of the managers ever come by to introduce themselves.

To top off the entire experience we went back for lunch the next day, the server was bartending but still took time to take care of our orders, even remembering the orders by heart and also remembered the drink orders.  The same manager remembered us and stopped by to say hi and welcome back.

Great food, great drinks, and great employees who really care about your dining experience.  I highly suggest them to anyone who wants a great lunch or dinner, free shuffleboard and pool, and a good time out.

    Thanks Fox and The Hound.

There was a time when I used to look fondly upon Fox and the Hound. You see, during my early twenties I spent many a Tuesday night taking advantage of their pint night. I went there enough that I became friends with a few of the staff, and I was even a member of the mug club.  Needless to say, I think my purchases probably paid for one or two of the flat screens in there.

However, as I no longer work in the Chesterfield Valley I don't get to visit Fox and the Hound much anymore, and unfortunately for me, my last couple visits have been less than exemplary.

Let's talk about my latest encounter.

My family, like apparently many other families, has a tradition where we see a movie on the day after Christmas each year. This year, my family picked Steven Spielberg's War Horse at Chesterfield Galaxy. Due to its location, they picked Fox and the Hound as the perfect place to get a bite to eat after. Many in our party had red eyes from crying from the movie we had just seen, and I politely informed the staff that we came from our family's onion farm, and we had just cut up our latest harvest. I don't think they bought it, but I'm not sure it matters.

So, we get seated almost immediately, and are seated in the far left room with the giant projector, which was lucky because we were provided entertainment for all the long waits we had to endure from our waitress.

Let me state first that our waitress was affable and cute, but she was not setting any records for complete service. Having worked in the restaurant industry, I'm pretty forgiving of my service. Although, when I don't get a single refill of my beverage in an hour period, it's hard to be forgiving.  If there is one thing I learned from waiting tables, it's that something as little as keeping the water and ice tea's filled quickly can lead to a happy table.

The food took a while to come out, which is acceptable because it was dinner time on the day after Christmas, but the place didn't look overly busy. Looks can be deceiving which could have explained the slow service and long food wait time.

I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap, because I felt it was an entree that is very hard to mess up. I was wrong. It was gross, the tortilla was stale, there was an abundance of cheese, and a lack of chicken. Luckily the fries were good, but I didn't have the foresight to just order a plate of those instead.

The table had mixed reactions to their meals. The clear winner of the bunch was my uncle who had a sizable meal with their Fish and Chips.

It's quite unfortunate that I've had only bad experiences lately at Fox and the Hound, because at one time it was one of my favorite chain style restaurants in town.

Needless to say their beer selection and appetizer lineup (try the Chicken Ultimate Nachos and Hot Honey Wings) are among the best in Chesterfield, but the atmosphere and staff leave a little something to be desired these days.

Maybe if I go back again my opinion will be changed?

I LOVE this place.  Big screen Tv's plenty of area.

if you eat anything on the menu.. Chicken Tenders are a must.  They are beer battered and amazing.  I love their fries and had garlic potatoes last night that was amazing!

pretzel bites and nacho's are also great appetizers.

Service is good, not perfect but generally they are packed out and servers are short handed, as it seems.

ENJOY the atmosphere and your time there.  I DO and can't wait to go back!

PS, when you go to the rest room, check out the mouthwash on the wall. Now how cool is that?

Great Atmosphere, Great Service, Great Managers.

Fox and Hound had a full house as usual, we came in with a party of 20 after being treated very badly by Brick House Tavern &Tap downt the street. The staff worked their tails off found us a place to sit.

Thank you for the quality service!

I've been to The Fox and Hound several times and can say that I've always found it to be a solid choice for bar food.  Their pizzas and sandwiches are good.  If you make friends with the server, they will bring you samples of different beers for free.  As to be expected, there are plenty of TVs in the bar area, but there's also TVs in the dining area, which is nice if you want to check out the game but not be in such a noisy area (the bar can get crazy noisy).

Probably the best thing I've ever had here was the fish and chips.  The fish had a great texture and crispiness, and the fries were seasoned very well.  You get a huge portion though!  One serving = 4 large pieces of fish.

I will note that I'd opt for beer over cocktails here, though.  I've not had great luck with cocktails here, but there is a nice selection of bottled and draft beers.  Overall, Fox and Hound is a good spot to chill with friends and watch the game.

Met a friend from HS last night at the Fox and Hound.  What a great atmosphere!  Staff was very friendly and drinks were cheap.  I mean cheap!  $2.00 draft beer on Tuesday night.  I took the food home and it was good also but I probably would have had a different sauce than the one I choose but it was good.  Hot honey!

This is the hard drinking, 36 beer on tap, bar that my niece loves.  We visited for the Wicked Wheat Wednesday for $3 pints of any wheat beer.  She said the better night is Two Buck Tuesday on any pint!  Then she told me about the card...

All places should have a card that pays me back for how many beers I buy.  (My niece got $10 off her tab)  After so many beers I would get the larger mugs for the price of a pint~ even on $2 Tuesday.

I found out the kitchen is open late so I ended up getting "Pool Sticks" (the BBQ inspired egg rolls on shredded lettuce) and really enjoyed them.  They do have 2 pool tables so I guess the name is legit.

I really liked this English inspired tavern.  (The TVs need upgraded from rear projection to flat panel & smoking @ the bar are the only real complants)

The main area of the bar area is tavern style with a cool long communal & bar stool friendly table.  There are more traditional seating, but I thought that was a nice touch.

I went to Fod and Hound with Several Friends. None of us smoke, and we just wanted to sit and have a beer and chill. Even though the Area wasn't really open, they let us sit in the none smoking resturant section. The service was pretty quick and Jessica didn't let us want for much. They even went out of thier way to accomodate for our large group and the fact that people had beer specific food allergies. I was happy. We got to enjoy our evening and relax. the Music on Tuesday is the Perry Woods experiance, a local St.Louis Musician I have grown to enjoy over the years. Since it was a Tuesday, we got 2.00 Drafts, including Blue Moon. Can't beat that with a stick! No really you can't. Don't even Try, especially not with a stick. Ok. So yes I like it here. It is one of the better bars in the Valley. The food is pretty good and they have lots of TV's, I would go so far as to say this is the only soprts bar in the Valley. Aside from the cigarette smoke in the main bar, it is a great place to have a cocktail.
Side Note: I was here for the US vs England World Cup Game, not an empty seat in the house. Great place for Big Sporting Events.

We avoid the bar area since we are non smokers. There is a wall & glass that separates so no so bad, but we go usually at lunch. Food has always been great, LOVE the homemade chips!! UPDATE! 01/19/2011~ UGH! They stopped serving the homemade chips!!! Very very disappointed as it was a big draw for me. We won't visit much now lol.

    1. Smokey. Nothing worse than being slapped in the face with 3000 cigarettes. They really need to invest in some new ventilation.
    2. After I got my fill of second hand smoke I was most unpleasantly surprised with some terrible service. The waitresses were just forgetful and unapologetic.
    3. Lastly, the food was horrendous. I ordered "Jamaican chicken" (why? no idea) - it was sort of slimy and coated in a sweet soy/teriyaki sauce. How this is any bit Jamaican is beyond me. My wife got some beer cheese soup and a side salad. The soup was just a sloppy mess of cheese and cream- nothing like the real thing up north (Wisconsin / Minnesota namely).- inedible. The salad was browning and utterly disgusting. Our friend ordered Chicken Strips (ok - these are impossible to mess up, right?) with hot sauce. The hot sauce was a mistake. It was (I believe) franks red hot mixed with whole (not ground) black peppercorns. I actually crunched on a peppercorn. It was awful.

Avoid this place at all cost.

I've had many first dates here since most lived in Chesterfield/Wildwood area.Lots of younger men everytime I went around Happy Hour.
Good drinks and their lunch meni is good. Try the Black Forest on the Lunch Menu it is a pretzel roll with turkey, cheese, and some veggies for only $5.99 M-F. (Not bad.)

I had a chipotle chicken wrap for dinner. It was very tasty and anything with black beans and salsa? It's a winner if it is made right.

Okay, it's a chain. I'm gonna have to get used to chains, living in suburbia and all. Overall, Fox and Hound is pretty legit. Pretty regular food - nothing spectacular, but definitely a step above some other similar restaurants. Beer menu is also a lot better than most other places, which is also a plus. I know I'll be back, as it's pretty close, and know it will be a reliable place to go to get a decent meal and a good beer.

There are a few other Fox and Hounds in Missouri, but this is the only one in the St. Louis area.

Though it does has a bit of a chain-y feel, it's a great place to grab dinner or a drink. The servers and bartenders are really nice and the kind of people who are going to remember your face and name. It also has several different rooms. One is a nonsmoking dining room, the other is the bar area with a lot of seating and long tables for groups, and another is filled with billiards tables. There are also rooms for parties and group reservations. I really like their bar area. It has a ton of flat screen TVs planning a variety of sports and music videos, which is great if you're not interested in that UFC match or football game.

The food and drinks are good. I love their pizzas and their spinach artichoke dip is great! Plus, I highly recommend their pink lemonade cocktail.

Also, pretty much every night is an event night with drink specials. They have Cardinals nights, Mizzou game nights, etc. Once they had a "ladies night" where if you had a group of ten girls, you got a ton of free appetizers. That was pretty sweet. Also, on Valentine's Day, my boyfriend had to work so a gal pal and I went to their "Singles Valentine's Day" dinner. There were a lot of singles our age and it was really fun. To me, this is the best bar option in the Chesterfield Valley area.
