A number of people I know enjoy going to Krieger's. Â And I really wanted to enjoy it too. Â The place is family-friendly, it's local, it's pleasant enough inside and with a decent size bar food menu. Â However, I just can't seem to pull it up to three stars. Â So I'm going to have to go with two stars for our dinner there. Â Now that does combine both service and food. Â So perhaps some was just bad luck, and you will have better.
When we arrived, we were seated promptly and given the choice of a booth or table. Â We chose the booth. Â Then we sat there for about ten minutes. Â The only waitress I saw went by us repeatedly, helping several other tables. Â Finally, as I was looking around yet again, I heard her in the back calling to the other waitress that she had a table. Â I watched as she walked the entire distance of the place over to us. Â When she asked what we wanted to drink, I asked what soft drinks they had, since I wanted non-alcoholic, diet, and caffeine-free. Â [I know, but it's late on Sunday and I don't want to buzz or bloat myself on the drink.] Â Only beer and alcohol are listed on the menu. She just replied that they have Pepsi products. Â I know that is an unfortunately common answer, and is fine if you are trying to decide between Pepsi or Coke. Â However, it doesn't help me at all since Pepsi has about 35 different sodas, of which only a few are caffeine-free diet. Â Since I'd already waited ten minutes to be noticed, it just struck me poorly and I said, "Well, just bring me water." Â Perhaps she didn't care for it either, since the other waitress then brought the drinks and took care of us the rest of the night. Â Oh well, at least she was very good at her job and we reciprocated her pleasantness. Â I just hope I didn't have some worker's loogie in my meal. XP
We got onion rings as an appetizer. Â They were pretty good, if standard. Â But they were large, were whole onion slices, and had a nice light tempura coating.
My (8 oz) peppercorn burger was excellent. Â Meat had a good beefy flavor, cheese was melty, and peppercorn sauce rounded it out. Â Of course Krieger's is known for its burgers, so they had to hit with that.
The wife's chicken quesadilla looked pretty good too. Â It really had a lot inside, and the wife said it was tasty.
My fries, though...bleah. Â They were obviously just frozen fries poured into a fryer. Â The insides were pretty mealy, and the seasoning was both skimpy and a weird sweet/seasoned salt combo. Â But, at least there were a lot.
So, the food was probably three stars, maybe even closer to four if the fries were good. Â But the service (at least the wait and drink order) drops it into the two range.
In true Blues fashion, Krieger's was our stop before a game one night.
So much excitement for St. Louis sports, its awesome!
Located in the heart of Chesterfield, it can kinda get lost in the strip mall its in but once inside you know you are in the right place. Â Its very decorated with sports memorabilia and has a mural of all our beloved sports teams.
Unforunately they were short staffed and the waitress was being pulled in all directions so things took a bit longer than the normal. Â However once we got our food, I remembered just why i love it so much. Â They don't announce it but they have bottomless fries and with the seasoning they use, you will want more...and more...and more!
You can also get 20% off with your ticket stub before and after the games.
I went to Krieger's with a buddy after I have not been here in quite a few years. Â He is a regular and knew exactly what he wanted... me not so much. Krieger's get's props for having a yelp deal where I got a free order of pretzel sticks.
The atmosphere is that of a sports bar. Â The eating space was very clean. Â I liked the mural on the wall with all of the Saint Louis sports teams.
The waitress we had was very friendly and kept up with my water drinking (this is impressive as I chug waters). Â Service was also fast.
I ordered a burger; cooked medium with cheese, an egg, and bacon. I also got pretzel sticks. Â My buddy ordered the spinach dip and a burger. Â The pretzels were very soft and the cheese dip was very good. Â The spinach dip was some of the best spinach dip I have ever had. Â Really, try it you will thank me (remember to hit useful to say thanks lol). Â Both of our burgers were very good as well.
Food 4/5. Â Staff 4/5. Value 4/5. Â Yes folks this is a very solid 4/5 stars.
