This is a bar for the hard core, old school bar patrons. If youre here at 11am on a constant basis, then that's the drinking methodology you need to fit in. Ive been here many times but because in the back they used to house Uncle Frank's BBQ. Theyve had a number of other good and bad food symbiotic establishments since then but the scenario remains the same. You get food in one place and you saddle up to the bar to get your drinks. Some workers are friendly some indifferent. I guess that's the charm of this place.

A nice place to grab a little after-work happy hour or to catch a game. Have not had the bar food yet and have only gone on a weekday.

Pros:
~ Awesome Beer Selection
~ Busy, but not too busy. Getting a drink doesn't take 10 minutes and there's plenty of people around to start a conversation with.
~ Can be seen as a dive, but they put money into the bar to make it feel comfortable rather than divey.
~ Cool bartenders. Will let you sample any beer and they do not expect ridiculous tips. Mine gave me my beer free cause he spilled some over the side of my glass.

Cons:
~Some of the TVs were on the fritz. Not a huge deal, but there's a slightly chance you are sitting in the wrong area and can't watch the sports on a good TV.

~Only 1 restroom for the gents and it doesn't have a big troth. If you're willing to get friendly you maybe able to squeeze 3 dudes in to piss. Was not an issue when I was there, but I could see it being one on a busier night.

Excellent beer selection and a well-stocked bar. Pretty much all you need, right? But wait! There's more! Beer pong, pool table, televisions, and mellow patrons!
Stopped in for a shot and a beer on my birthday, and I'm glad I did. I dare to say that it's basically "the perfect bar," but then again that could just be the "birthday shot and a beer afterglow" talking.
The place is noticeably clean (but still appropriately dimly-lit as good bars should be), the bartender was friendly (as they all should be as well), and the drink prices were good. Looking forward to spending some after-work happy hours there and having some food next time, too. It certainly doesn't hurt that one of my favorite taquerias is right next door, too.
I had to deduct one star because the bar supports the Steelers. I'm an Eagles fan. But that doesn't mean I won't come have a good time at Francesca's!

Great beer selection for a local bar with ~25 beers on tap. Great place to go if you're trying to catch a game as they have TVs all along the wall and a huge projection screen. Moderate prices.

Mike, Chris, and Franny are probably the best restaurant/bar owners I've ever met. Our friendship started in the summer of 2012 when our humble dodgeball league was looking for a sponsor bar for our league to come get discounted food/drinks, to hang out and party after a fun day of dodgeballin' . After many attempts at other so called, "sports bars," we were all but losing hope and pretty discouraged. Alas, we came upon Francesca's; spoke to Mike, Chris, Franny, and well, the rest is history.

State of the art Jukebox (never seen a jukebox that was so techie), pool tables, dart board, and if you want to play beer pong, flip cup or any other drinking games, then they'll pull out the tables for you and you can go at it all night!

An establishment is only good as it's owners; Mike, Chris, and Franny are pretty awesome, and just generous human beings in general.

Thank you guys for all the support the past year! And letting me fulfill my dreams of doing a striptease on a bar. AHAHAHA

Me: barkeep, i'd like a beer please.
Barkeep: that's great, but we're doing shots right now.
Funny and serious. The entire was doing shots for the SF giants

This place is so great! Not overly crowded, great selection of beer. Bar food is actually really good, including 12+ flavors of wings (boneless and bone-in). Jukebox, pool table, nice folks.

They have an outdoor patio but they don't have the proper license yet to allow you to drink out there :( I would say get that license and they're up to 5 stars for an after-work happy hour spot in my book.

Bonus: right next to a taqueria with awesome tacos.

Dive bar. Go with a group. Cheap beers. Karaoke on Thursdays. Night of awesomeness!

This review is for Thursday Karaoke Night!!!

This bar has a great positive atmosphere, and the sleazeball is at a minimum. It's definitely a "dive" so don't expect anything trendy or high-tech, just expect to have a great, casual time.

The bartender is one of the most relaxed and up-beat I've ever met.

The karaoke regulars are DEFINITELY the most positive bar-goers I've ever met. Everyone cheers whoever goes on stage to sing, and people will sing and dance along if they know the song. Most people are in their 20s but there are some older folks that will saunter up to the stage and blow your mind (I'm looking at you, sequined vest dude who sings the hell out of Motown!)

Food from the kitchen (served till 10 or 11pm) pretty good and diverse for a bar. You can order a Montecristo!

PROS:
- Power metal singer karaoke DJ (Yup.)
- Karaoke DJ will conduct random dance parties between singers (Yup!)
- Positive atmosphere
- Supportive karaoke crowd
- Great bar kitchen
- Taqueria next door open late
- Drinks get cheaper the more often you go (Really!)
- Clean bathroom

CONS:
- Karaoke catalog needs a little updating ;)
- Interior seems to be undergoing some sort of construction?

You have to take it for what it is, which is a casual sports bar in MTV.

Given that I think it does everything well - It features a great projection screen for sports, a wide selection of beer, and an incredibly nice owner (MIke is the one I have met).

Recently started frequenting this establishment, The owners Mike, Samantha & Chris go out of their way to welcome you. The staff, Tim, Lindy, Austin & Shannon are great! Give the place a try for Happy Hour, good music, pool & good food at Pocket's Grill which is located in the back room. They are making constant upgrades not only to the interior but the beverage offerings. I think you will find this a nice spot to have on your stop by list.

I'm actually averaging my review of experiences between 5 stars on weeknights and 1 stars on weekends.

My first experience at Francesca's was great, the owner Mike went out of his way to accommodate myself and my roommate with his 30 taps of beer, he even let us order off the menu and get a flight, very impressed with his beer selection!

Later I came back on a Friday to find there was a "live music event" with hip-hops finest and they were charging a $10 cover. I had brought some friends with me promising as good of a time as we had previously and was sorely mistaken. After getting patted down and paying cover (in MtV?!?) we came in to find the bar staff was replaced and we were joined by a crowd that made the girls we brought very uncomfortable. Thinking it was a fluke we returned the next night to the same event, this time charging $20!!

I haven't given up, the taps and the weekday crew are too good to leave, this place has something great it could be, so long as it i polished, not rusted.

This is tandem with my Pockets review, since I ordered from both the bar and the grill (yes, they are in separate parts of the building). I'm happy to report that this place serves my favorite cider, Wyder's Pear Cider. That made me one happy girl after playing dodgeball on Saturday! They've got great prices on their brews, and the bartender had no problem bringing me my drink in the grill part of the building when he got busy. I dig it.

Just been here a couple of times, but I really like this place. Awesome atmosphere, cool people both as customers and servers... and very reasonable pricing. Give it a try!

Cool place they have Yueng ling and a lot of really good craft brews on tap. The Chicken wings are awesome as is the chicken Parmesan sandwich. And according to another reviewer they keep the Mexican's out LOL. Rap attack Fridays are sketchy and the ghetto trash that it brings in will make you feel safer in downtown Oakland during a riot.

They have pool tables, Peroni and Trumer Pilsner on tap, AND they put bacon on your Bloody Mary. Any other questions?

HORRIBLE PLACE...I don't understand how they have anybody going there. There were two bartenders serving only one half of the bar and when I caught the other ones attention so my party of 6 and I could get drinks she was downright rude! she must have thought I couldn't hear her while she called all of us "f-ing Mexicans". Racist bartenders, ordered one drink per person and managed to mess up on all of them. Just a mess of a place if I could rate it no stars I would! Ignorant people are blaming my bad time here on me and its ridiculous, I didnt ask for bad customer service. The people that got great service good for you however this was MY OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCE.

It is listed correctly as it is a dive bar. Nothing special but if you stop in for a drink, you'll get a good one (just don't ask for anything fancy) and they seem to stock almost everything.
This is not the place you go on a date, but it is the place to meet a friend or group to have a game of pool or if a band is playing. It's on my way home so that's my reason for the occasional drop in.

I went for a hip hop show. Some Saturday's they have shows there and I have to say not the best type of crowd. By 1030 guys were so drunk already they were throwing up on themselves and getting kicked out and the cops kept showing up. The only thing I will say is the show was really great. Nu-ricks records really puts on a good show and they find good acts in the bay area. If you like hip hop then I would suggest to go to those shows and just be careful lol.

If you have been here in the past give the place another try! Many great improvements, kitchen is open, and who knew the bloody Mary is THE best in the south bay. Live music from time to time and sports always on 12 screens.

OMG Yikes.....I am a huge fan of divy murder bars...Super scary...lol....nothing good about francesca's...Nice enough folks....I guess...I like the non-window, wood paneling...toy grabber game...by the door...I had high hopes for this as a dive,...but this was skevy even for my foul tastes...

The amazing thing....IT'S BEEN THERE FOREVER???????

They have flat screens. The drink selection is also smaller. The jukebox is online so you can find what you want.

I really dig the vibe of this place.

It's quite unassuming and at first glance you may think that the people inside are a little rough around the edges. But if you let yourself have a good time this place will deliver with great people, drinks and music. I think it's very rare to find such a great little Jem in today's world of super clubs, franchised bars, and chain restaurants.

Great space. Grew up in the bay area and had never been there before very recently. Kind of a dive, but pretty clean. Really good prices on drinks and a nice stage for live music.

Pretty easy to miss being on an open stretch of Middlefield road but you're not really missing much. http://static.px.yelp.co…

Yeah, it looks promising on the outside with a divey look but the cast of characters lacks the chain smoking, been here since 9am type of regulars. There's no depth, no snarkiness, no personality. I guess the Yelp equivalent would be having grade A5 Wagyu beef and then making a well done meatloaf out of it.

Four beers on tap, with two pool tables ($.75), and the Gipsy Kings being the most played band on their jukebox equals 2.5 stars.

Divey, but lacking the colorful cartoon characters or cigarette smoke of a Bukowski tableau. What you get is just a reflection of life in the Peninsula for the few people who aren't overworked immigrants or supercharged tech geeks. This place is a borderline-depressing alky shithole, which gives it some cred, and as others have said there's a BBQ place in back. I will review Frank's separately.

Yet another character-filled divey bar, located a little bit in the middle of nowhere (... Mountain View isn't the boonies, but there isn't a whole lot immediately around the intersection of Rengstorf and Old Middlefield...).

So what are you in for, stepping into Francesca's? There's an established group of regulars, from what I gather. How friendly they are (or not), I can't quite figure from the one time I went. A handful of old-timers who couldn't help but oogle the lovely young women that were in the birthday party. From they're reaction, it might be somewhat of a rarity for a younger crowd to be here. Of course, as grooving as the band is, I bet the evenings here are lively... (more on the band later...)

This is, first and foremost a bar. Drinks are affordable. Pleasantly, "this could do a body bad" affordable. $5 Jameson's, $5 Maker's Mark affordable. Probably a good thing I practiced a little bit of Sunday-afternoon restraint.

What about amenities? The establishment is split into three rooms. The immediate room through the front door is the bar where you'll find a jukebox, two smaller tee-vees, and a large 32"-36"ish LCD. And of course, a well stocked affordable bar. To the left of the bar, there is a room in which there are two pool tables, a booth, some chairs and the restrooms (there's actually one additional women's restroom near the back room).

The back room...? Ah, this is where you will find Uncle Frank's BBQ as well as a stage where Vicious Groove (one of the grooving-est bands I've heard in a long loooooong time) jams away in fun-filled funk-n-soulified 45-minute sets...

The bar! The food! The band! I'm eager to get back there again sometime to check it out a little more!

Francesca's the bar is uninspiring, but her restaurant tenant Uncle Frank's is probably the best BBQ in the Silicon Valley. Uncle Frank's used to be located in East Palo Alto, but now occupies the back of Francesca's. Very good BBQ and huge portions. If you eat the full meal, you will be responsible for the obesity problem in the US. My suggestion is to eat half now, half tomorrow.

The decor is totally 1960s diner style (booths, formica) and not in a retro way. It's old school. The waitress was very friendly and only slightly incompetent, but in a charming way.

It's a little bit of the South, here in Mountain View.
