The Boardwalk

Great place for groups looking for a casual spot for beer and grub. It is typical bar food but the quality is higher. We have tried a variety of their sandwiches/burgers as well as their pizzas. All heavy food and all good stuff!

Trying to be somewhat healthy, I ordered the low-C (without bread) double chicken breasts, only to be told that they were out. How does a sports bar run out of chicken breast?? Am I the only who comes here and orders that?

Oh shoot, maybe I am.

So the nice lady offers me double turkey patties instead, and I say what the heck, a bird is a bird, right? Our group of seven then waits about 25 minutes for our food to come out, which is a bit long during non-busy hours. But I appreciate the fact that everybody's food came out at the same time, all nice and hot.

Now normally I don't get excited about turkey patties, as they're usually dry and boring. But Boardwalk knows how to make a mean turkey patty, tender and flavorful. There was some delicious turkey juice on my plate that I wish I had something other than my salad to soak up. Like maybe, some bread? Doh!

But if this place manages to make semi-healthy turkey patties taste so good, imagine how good the other, more fattening stuff is. Indeed, I've had their buffalo wings in the past, and they're the real deal.

Boardwalk, you have my heart. Because goodness knows I'm not making my heart any healthier by eating pub grub!

The food here is average bar food with some pizza which I have heard is ok. The wings are good but pricy unless you come here on NFL sunday for $5 for 10 wings. This place has like 3 or 4 TVs which is nowhere near enough for a sports bar of this size. They seem very loyal to their regulars (I used to be here every Sunday) but seem to favor their elderly and wealthier clientele over their younger college aged patrons. I used to come here to watch my Packers play and they usually accomodate me as well as a few other Packer fans by showing the game on one of the TVs. However, I came in here one sunday morning when I asked for them to put the game on assuming it would be ok since there were no local games on that morning, and they kindly agreed. 20 minutes later they change it to golf, when I notice another TV was showing golf. So basically they told me that they couldn't switch the TV back since two different elderly regulars wanted to watch golf where they were seated and did not want to move. The other two TVs were showing a basketball game and something else. But it really frustrated me that they had half their TVs on GOLF when there were a total of two guests watching it. Usually go to other spots to watch my games now, only come here to meet with friends once in a blue moon.
