Zen Lounge

Had to get in line but it went by pretty fast without being harassed by the bouncers.  While waiting in line I did see a few girls come up to the bouncer to see if he would "remember them" and let them cut in line but being that the line wasn't that long he sent them to the end of the line.  Bwahaha... We got there around 11ish and it wasn't packed but there was a nice amount of peeps in there.  All four VIP areas were occupied (I only saw 4 VIP areas, two side to side next to the first bar and two more close to the dance area.  We got our drinks and the bartender was pretty friendly.  I freaked at first because I saw two cracks in my glass and I was shocked that he would even give a customer a cracked glass but the glasses were actually plastic so I didn't complain about my cracked glass.  We got closer to the dancing area and just chilled there for a bit while we drank our spirits.  The guys/gals in the VIP area close to the dancing floor were already pretty hammered and a bunch of fat girls were getting on top of the glowing round tables they got and it was pretty funny.  It's always funny to see how fat chics think they are so hot when they are drunk.  One of them almost feel off the glowing thing so one of the bouncers told her to get off.  Something that we though was also funny was how they would allow and photograph the girls going up on there to dance and act all crazy but if a guy would get up there to dance the bouncers would get them off right away.  LOL  So.... if you are a guy... don't get on top of the glowing tables! lol  You have to go onto a second floor to go to the ladies room and the bathroom was freaking COLD as hell.  It's as if you walked into a walk-in freezer!  No bueno... not when you are sweating and hot as well on the dance floor and then walk right into a freaking freezer!  Anyhow, I had a good time and i will definitely check them out on another occasion.

Bathrooms need better ventilation; nice back patio for smokers and recovering from sweating on the dance floor; I think these guys are under new management from when they opened at this posting because I got handled really well, and our bottle service in the mezzanine was really good versus when we've been there before.

They still prioritize techno in the general mixup; and at 12 pm you're guaranteed techno for the rest of the night with brief mashups of top 40 mixed in. You have just long enough to recognize the song, get excited, and start dancing, before they tear it off back into techno for people to just flail and bob their heads. You can't really like, DANCE to this.

Meh. There's only so many places to go to dance in MTV. If only these guys played the music they plat at Molly McGee's, they'd be set. :)

I came here last Friday night with 5 of my girlfriends. It was my second time here at Zen, and the experience was definitely better! The crowd, however, was the same.

It's an older crowd compared to the crowd in Downtown San Jose. But an older crowd doesn't mean more respectful guys. One dude called my cousin a b**** after she told him to "be grown up" when he elbowed one of our girls. Another guy got mad when I squeezed his hand and threw it off me for trying to cop a feel. His excuse? "I'm just walking by! Calm down!" Honey, there was enough space for TWO of you to walk by, so don't be grazing your grimy hand on my waist.

We had a blast the rest of the night! My girls and I loved the hip hop jams. And of course, thanks to the amazing Matthew and your hospitality!
