    Hello, FOOD SNOB here.
Thought I would take a nostalgic trip and visit this place that I use to frequent back in the 80s and late 70s, when I worked down the street.  Gone are the half our waits in the lobby.  The place still looks the same but the quality that once was is gone.

The fresh baked bread, salad, soup and relish tray were great.  The Oysters Rockefeller were OK.  The Alaskan King Crab Legs for 58 dollars Market Price were not fresh.  They had to be previously frozen. They just were not worth it.   The Scallops sauteed in butter and garlic were OK but again I do not think they were fresh.

Can't comment on the Steak because we did not have any and probably will not be able to because I don't know if I will be going back.  But now this is a nice restaurant for the area it is in, and the Bar Area is pretty cool.

When I walked into Freddy's I walked into a time capsule. I was transported to the Regal Begal...it was homey, fun and nostalgic. The amount of food you get its well worth the price. You must check out Freddy's you won't regret it! Check out my review in The NWI entertainer-dining at dusk!

Have heard good things so my family tried Freddy's for my husband's birthday dinner tonight. Overall we were disappointed.
The decor is dark, old, in need of updating - I enjoy a place with character so this could have been a plus for me, but the food didn't carry it. (I did think the two skeletons in the first booth, clad in festive holiday garb, were pretty awesome.)
Drinks: we just got sweet tea and raspberry iced tea. Tasty enough and they were quick with the refills.
Service: no hostess at the front, and we waited about five minutes while being ignored by everyone at the bar. A server finally noticed us and, though she seemed utterly bewildered by our presence, seated us. Our server was friendly and on top of our needs.
Appetizer: we ordered saganaki. It didn't come out until after our main dishes, AND they had flamed it in the kitchen already. Half the fun of flaming cheese is the FLAMING part! We were all very disappointed. The flavor was way too tart too.
Meal: we ordered steaks and ribs. They came with a relish tray, bread, soup, salad, and potato.
The relish tray was the most pathetic thing we have ever seen. A tinnnnny little dish with a small cup of ranch, two cucumber slices, one small baby carrot, a piece of celery, broccoli, a radish, and a green onion. For four people to share. And none of it was very fresh - mostly it was dried out and nasty.
The bread was good. The menu promised honey butter but all we got was prepackaged regular butter and Promise. After we finished the first round, our server brought us a second small loaf without our asking so I presume that if we had finished the relish tray we would also have received more but it was not worth finishing so we don't know.
The chicken noodle soup was bland, greasy, unappetizing in taste and appearance.
The salads were ok. Fresh enough but very basic - a plate of greens with two small cherry tomatoes and a cup of dressing.
The potatoes were awful. My husband's garlic mashed were a pasty mess. My six year old daughter was happy enough with her fries - they were standard issue from-frozen bland steak fries. My son and I sprang the $2.50 extra each for the cheesy double baked potatoes - they were pasty and bitter and practically inedible.
So why two stars? Well, the meat was good, and since they are a steakhouse, that carries some weight. Maybe it was an off day for the sides. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and I thought mine was very flavorful. My son had the ribs - one end was a little tough but the other end was very tender and the flavor was amazing. Great sauce.
The two kids were happy with everything - they don't really know better. My husband thinks Texas Roadhouse (to use a chain for comparison) is worlds better. I thought their steaks and ribs were equal to TR but the sides just SUNK this place.
For the price? There's no value here, sad to say. You can get better at a more affordable chain. If I could do half stars this would have been a 2.5 star rating but based on our overall experience tonight I can't round up.
