Excellent beers, food, and service. I'm not sure what's with the bad reviews. We elected to sit outside on a pleasant late June Saturday evening because the inside was busy and noisy. I had the Raging River Ale first and the Cherry Ale next and both were unique and delicious. The Cherry Ale was refreshing and had a perfect note of maraschino cherry - not overpowering and didn't taste like a fruit beer.
We started with the spinach artichoke dip. The toast was perfectly crunchy and the dip was smooth and full of spinach and artichoke chunks. It was a tad salty, but nothing the good beers couldn't cure. Next, I had the Mahi-Mahi sandwich. It's not easy cooking fish to a perfectly tender and flaky consistency in a gastro-pub setting, but Front Street nailed it. The sauce was fantastic and wouldn't have minded having a little extra on the side. I think the ciabatta might not be the right choice of bread for the sandwich, but it was very good.
I will definitely make it a point to return to Front Street. I had a great time there. My company couldn't have been better either. ;)
A great outdoor patio for summer dining (and drinking).
The food here is 4 star food and maybe even 5, the beer ranges from 3 to 4 stars (the vanilla porter, cherry stout and other specialties are great, but the old gold is too bland for a microbrewery. Â You're just as well off spending $2 less on a budweiser for the quality)
It's got a great view of the river if you can get one of the 3 or 4 seats in the very front of the place and is within walking distance to many hotels and other drinking and eating establishments in downtown Davenport. Â
If you want a good example of what quad city life is like, stop by on a Friday afternoon at about 5 PM. Â You'll see trains, barges and all numbers of interesting locals enjoying the best of what we have to offer.
Such good bar food!! I went here with a group and we all tried eachothers food. I got the chicken wings in their Stout BBQ sauce and I was nearly sucking the bones because the sauce was so delicious. Someone else got the BBQ pork Nachos, again, amazing. Huge plate of food and tons of flavor. And then I also tried the Carolina Pulled Pork sandwich, the flavors in this were mouth watering and just perfect. Love this place. The menu isn't huge, but what they have has not disappointed.
