Garage Bar at Route 46

Waiting to go out of business - sad but true.

I normally don't go all the say to Sanford for many things but a friend of mine was throwing a surprise birthday party for her husband and had rented out the Garage Bar for the occasion.  Route 46 is a large complex with a number of different buildings.  From what I could see, it was drawing a mix of crowds depending on what you enjoy.  There was a restaurant, a few bars and an outdoor venue that had a band playing there so it looked like they gave you a number of options to enjoy.

The Garage Bar was in the back of the complex and it was in a building that had a western type looking bar complete with swinging doors. The place has a relaxed yet classy feel to it. Everything was clean and it looks like they take care of the building.   Our room was surrounded with garage doors that I am sure could open and create a 'open air' type feel if needed.  I was told by the staff that the owners were going to show off some of their classic car collection in this room but then decided to make it a space for parties.   They had set up a small bar in the front of the room, a food table in the back and about 6 large round tables for guests to sit at.  

After our surprise for the birthday boy, we all enjoyed the food which included spinach dip and chips, potato skins, chicken wings, and chicken tenders.  All the food was hot and tasted good.  They also had free sodas for everyone or you could purchase liquor if you wanted.  The bartender "Timon" was very nice!  In fact, all the staff was super nice and went out of their way to make sure we all had a good time.

Except for the distance for me (a 45 min drive) this would be a great place for a party!  The only negative thing that I experienced was the noise level in the room.  There was about 40 guests and music playing and I found myself yelling at the other guests at my table because we could not hear each other.   Funny thing was, when I was leaving, there was a band playing full blast outside on the stage yet I never heard them!  The room was either very sound proof or I did not realize the music was coming from outside!  Oh well... still a good time was had by all!  Enjoy!

The Garage Bar is cool! The set up is nice as it has vintage automobile decorations.After all, it is a bar. I went to the Garage Bar because I hear about their Chicken Wings. They were big and juicy and had a smoked flavor to them that is amazing. I had to eat about 40 of them.
