I have so many reviews to write, but I was appalled at what I saw this last Saturday night, so this "yelp" takes precedence. Â I finally got to get out for a bit, so I stopped by a few places to say hi to some friends. Â While here, I kind of eavesdropped (I know so bad of me huh!) Â and heard the guy behind the bar ask a customer to come outside. Â My friend and I were curious so we sneakily followed. Â We couldn't hear what was being said, but the guy (a bigger guy) was talking extremely rudely to this woman who looked shocked at whatever was being said. Â Not my business, but I don't think any place of business should conduct personal matters while working. Â And if you are going to be rude to a customer, please don't do it where others can see it. Â
So tasteless, kind of like the drinks here!
Yes, I am giving this bar only 2 stars. I've been here several times. It seems like each time, my experiences are less and less favorable.
So, last night I took my friend from Reno out to some "Lodi" bars. I thought Garry's would be a fun place to start. I was completely wrong. The bartender was having a rough night, I will give her that. However, that's not my problem.
We ordered our drinks. My friend got a beer & I got the worse mix drink I have ever tasted. It took a long time for the draft beer to be poured & I could see the bartender kind of hiding the flow of the beer, which I thought was weird, but whatever. My friend drank her flat beer & I tried to drink my mixed drink but it was just gross.
When I told the bartender that my drink was too sweet, she told me that I ordered a sweet drink so what did I expect. I laughed it off but I thought it was completely rude. When my friend ordered her second beer. This is when the bartender says that her CO2 was out & she did not know how to change it. So, there was no beer. She didn't offer my friend anything else in place of draft beer.
So, we left & ventured out to some other "Lodi" bars & had a better experience.
Garry's is a classic. Â One of Lodi's originals! Â Dark and musky on the inside, equipped with a jukebox, a couple of pool tables and a few friendly bartenders. Â
Garry's used to be a place that only old men would frequent. Â Those days are long gone. Â Garry's attracts a good mix of young and old. Â In fact, on a Friday or Saturday night you may have to arrive early if you don't want to be stuck without a place to sit. Â
A great place to stop in for a drink!
My fiance and I wandered in here mid afternoon, mid week. Old men sitting around and was super quiet.
The bartender named Mike was extremely friendly and talked to us like we have been friends forever.
$4 beer. Super friendly folks. Cute old men playing some dice game. There's a freakin PIANO!
I felt like I was in Cheers and I liked it!
Aw, yes....Garry's Lounge. Â Garry's is pretty much what a Lodi bar should be- a comfy dive with cheap drinks, great jukebox, and a pool table. Â The drinks aren't the stiffest around, but for the price they do the job. Â A good age mix populate the place too. Â I often run into someone I haven't seen in forever there, which is pretty cool. Â
Â
I considered giving the places 5 stars simply for having NATURAL LIGHT ON TAP. Â HAHA! Â I've never seen that before. Â Actually, that should probably be a negative star, but eh...it's a cool place to hang out with friends.
Good little bar with cheap drinks and friendly people. They have an Internet Jukebox which is a blast because you hear all styles of music throughout the night. The decor is very bland and a bit dated, but it is always clean.
The older regulars come in during the day and stay until about 8:30. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights the place gets very crowded and the age group is more like 21-35.
Garry's is always a fun place to hangout!
