Go on Friday nights, Tricia is a great bartender. She pours a great drink and is super friendly and always greets you with a smile

It's a great place to  hang.  Very comfortable.  If you can get there for breakfast or lunch, the food is excellent.  Get there before 2:00 for food.  The bands are awesome on the week-ends.  It's your typical small town bar where everyone feels comfortable.  I hear alot of people say they are newcomers to the bar and that they would definitely be back.  Probably because the bartenders make you feel right at home.  Best place in Monrovia for the price.  Check it out.

This is a cool bar to hang. My friends and I like going here on Saturday Nights. The Bartender is really down to earth and they have a good selection of beers. The bands are surprisingly good. We caught a band called No Boundaries and they were amazingly entertaining. CHEERS!

If you are into being around a bunch of wet brained has beens, then this is your place.  Gem City is the ultimate drunk hang out next to the VFW in Monrovia.  If you are an alcoholic,  then go to the Gem.  Its gross.

Totally agree with Miranda M. I felt like we crashed the place when we walked in lol

Our drinks were $10.75 for a Hennessey & Coke and a Blue Moon. Not bad. My drink was made strong how I like. The bartender was definitely having a good time in there.

Maybe we just went on the wrong night, I wouldn't recommend this place to go solo or with a date but MAYBE with a large group of people this place would be a fun hangout.

I live nearby so I decided to walk over with my girlfriend a few days ago. We walked in and it seemed like everyone in there wanted us OUT of there. A group of older women at the bar were giving my girlfriend the stink eye. To which my girlfriend politely responded "Hiii" letting them know yes... I see you staring. We left after we had our drinks, the vibe was all bad in there. I thought my girlfriend was gonna get jumped by some ol' scallywags. We ended up walking down the street to 4D pool hall.

Im totally down for dive bars, but if youre not from Monrovia or dont have friends in Monrovia you probably wont like it. I know I dont. There was one bartender (ON A SATURDAY) and 2 bar backs, so they couldnt serve you alcohol. But I will say the couple times Ive went, the bartender (always been the same one) was VERY nice.
BUT the people just made me feel uncomfortable. I felt like I crashed someones high school party. Everyone knew eachother, and looked at me like "who are you". It was just uncomfortable and unfriendly. Luckily I was with some cool people, so I kinda just stuck by them.

I like this place. The drinks are always good, nice and strong.  Mostly they have popcorn and live bands, which are usually pretty good.  They have free pool which makes the atmosphere better.  I like this place.

I've been to this location a few times over the years.  But I never really consider it when I'm looking for a place to go and hang out.  This past Saturday we had a b-day bar hop planned and needed a neutral meeting place to get started.  Due to its close proximity we meet here.  I honesty expected to grab one drink and split.  And in typical ODF fashion we ended up (nearly) closing the place.

The vibe was great, a good mix of people.  The bar is laid out nicely with pool table in the back and a stage to the side.  They offer a good selection of drinks including some great beers.  The Bartender was amazing; she made drink suggestions and was able to make anything we asked for.

Know before you come that they only take cash, but with an ATM in the building and a bank a block away it wasn't to big an issue.

I defiantly plan on coming back, soon and often.

this place was a total dive and i mean i like dive bars but this place was a real dive! we got there at like 10pm to see the band play which we were told was good thats why we went there in the first place. well the band was actually very good i would see them again. when we arrived there was about 20 people there just doing various things, playing pool, drinking, etc. the usual bar stuff. the crowd was aged from about 25-55. the bartender was cool the drinks were reasonably priced, and all in all the vibe was cool and chill. there was this one girl that was so drunk she literally was falling all over her boyfriend and he was having a hard time steadying her, well in most bars even dives when someone is that drunk they make them go home but nope not in this bar here the bartender, the boyfriwnd a few others spent the next 20 minutes trying to get her on a stool and to sober up a little so she could stay and continue the partying. she could not sit in the stool she literally slid off of it onto the floor but she never left she was still there when we left at 11:30. lol. we went out onto the porch (which is in front of the bar facing the street) to smoke a cigarrette and this guy was smoking weed and offered us some. this place was cool, full of regulars and totally kick back. dont know how often ill go back but maybe when they have another good band.

How I have never noticed this place here is beyond me. But one lazy afternoon, I have a couple of friends texting me to get down there now!!  Good fries and burgers! And a tuna melt for me.   Well, I wasn't able to go that afternoon, so I moseyed on in one evening after work for happy hour.  It's a pretty big bar with dart boards and Jaeger on tap.

It was sorta empty and I asked for a menu.  Cooks gone! Bummer. So I entertained myself with vodka instead and inquired about Happy Hour. And that my friends is 3-7, with 50 cents off each drink. My Fizzy Screw was 3.25 for happy hour.  On my second Sunday afternoon visit, STILL no cook!! Apparently he leaves at 2pm.

A woman fell off her chair and I somehow wandered into the guy's restroom and then tried to enter the utility closet, all the while scratching my head in confusion.  Refusing to relieve myself in that skanky bathroom with the urinal and the door that wouldn't shut, I wandered back out to find the women's restroom out in the main bar, NOT down the hall.  I could hear the bar laughing at me thinking I was actually still using the men's restroom. *sigh* I may not be the brightest crayon in the box, but, really, I do manage to keep to the women's restrooms.

They don't take debit cards, but they have an ATM machine that will punish you with a $3 fee for not having cash.

According to their large sign, they have live entertainment on Fri and Sat evenings and breakfast specials on Sunday.  Taco specials on Tuesdays.
