This is one of the better Chinese carry out resturants in the area. The food has a fresh taste to it, unlike the commercial mall Chinese flavors of some of its local competitors. The restaurant has an open clean kitchen behind the counter, which is great. If you place a large order they will throw in 4 free egg rolls, which is a nice touch.
Things I've tried:
-Shrimp Fried Rice (Good Flavor, Shrimp are on the large side and there a bunch of them).
-Chicken and Beef Lo Mein (Heavy but good, tons of meat and fresh veg, noodles good size in between thick and thin)
-Almond Chicken (Delicious, very fresh gravy with good flavor and nice huge strips of all white meat chicken)
-Beef and Broccoli (Really fresh Broc, great flavor to sauce)
-General Tso's (Not my favorite, sauce is a little on the commercial side and sweeter than my preference. Those who prefer the sweet taste of s/s or sesame chicken will like it).
So I have passed this place a 100 times without even knowing it existed. Â I grew up around this area and never heard of this place. Â I came onto yelp and decided to try it out. Â It did not disappoint. Â It was awesome to walk in and see the cook in the kitchen with an open kitchen. Â We walked in, placed our orders and we were out of there within ten minutes. Â The food was excellent. Â I got the Almond Boneless Chicken and it had a great crisp. Â My girlfriend got the Kung Pao Chicken and liked it as well. Â I would prefer the almond boneless chicken though. Â We will be going here again for Chinese food.
Review Source:A great trio of take-out choices. I decided on Shrimp Lo Mein , Sesame Chicken, and Broccoli with Garlic Sauce. My broccoli combo was coated in a slightly sweet and spicy sauce. A good choice for me tonight. Waiting for the guys to try their meals later. I have a feeling they'll be glad I decided to stop here on the way home tonight!
Review Source:Outstanding food, decided to check out yelp looking for a new Chinese joint and this was around the corner.
First the kitchen is open and can watch the food being prepared. It's made to order, the almond chicken was crispy no doubt the best I've had around these parts of macomb.
I even overheard a customer before complement on how great the food was. Glad I ventured out and found a new spot closer to home
I have lived in Macomb for six years and have no idea why tonight is the first time I have tried it! Â Usually we go to PF Chang, Pei Wei or Dragon Phoenix for Chinese and I'm less than thrilled about it. Â However, my hubby loves Chinese so I am stuck with one of those three at least twice a month. No longer! Â Golden Bowl will be our choice for carry out from this day forward.
We ordered General Tsao, Almond Chicken and Chicken Fried Rice. Everything was hot, fresh and so good! Â I didn't feel like I was eating mystery meat. The gravy for the AC was savory and looked like gravy, not some strange bright yellow goo. The fried rice was fresh and flavorful. Â And for some reason, we were given four extra egg rolls! Â
Definitely try this place, you will NOT be disappointed!
Unfortunately, my favorite Chinese place appears to be under new management (and no longer offers the great deals they used to), so I've decided to take a look at other local Chinese carry-out places, and happened upon Golden Bowl.
The only thing I can say about this place is that the food and the quality of the food vastly exceeds what is typical of Chinese carry out. Â As a previous reviewer mentioned, they're clean. Â When you walk in you can sit and watch your food being made. Â The kitchen is not covered by a wall or a door. Â It's clean, period, end of discussion.
The food: Â I'll admit that I'm basically a one-trick pony when it comes to Chinese food. Â I like General Tso chicken. Â I like my chicken to be white meat (nothing is worse than biting into a crunchy part and wondering what part of the chicken that came from). Â They pass on both levels. Â The fried rice incredible. Â It was definitely a cut above the "all yellow" variety, or the "all brown" variety. Â It was *not* uniform as though it was purchased as frozen fried rice and simply heated up.
I also arrived well before I was told my food would be ready and got to watch the cook make everything. Â They're serious here.
This place, however, is completely carryout. Â They have three tables if you wish to dine in, but clearly nobody does this. Â On one of the tables was an opened can of coke that had the Christmas theme on it (if I couldn't actually "see" into the kitchen, this would have been a little alarming).
The prices, as well, are not fantastic. Â My lunch special cost $7.50. Â I was given a good amount of food, but I was spoiled by the lesser but far cheaper $3.99 specials at Happy Garden (that are no more). Â The combinations come with a generous amount of fried rice, and an egg role, as well as enough Duck Sauce to get through the egg role (which was also very good).
This is great carry out Chinese restaurant with great food. We go here quite often and are always greeted by friendly workers. The place is also very spotless. It has a few tables in it which are moslty for waiting for your order. The kitchen is visible from the waiting area and is spotless. The bathroom is also very clean. I have heard it said that the bathroom cleanliness reflects the cleanliness of the kitchen and in this case it is true. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant and I would recommend the Chow Mei Fun.
