Golden Gate is a classic old school chinese restaurant. It looks like it's been around for a while and probably has a few loyalists. Unfortunately my meal was below average. The fried rice was mushy with cubes of an unidetifyable processed meat. The veggies in the Gai Kow were overcooked and also very mushy with little to no flavor. Overall there was nothing terrible about Gai Kow but there was nothing to love either. I think it's time for chinese restaurants to evolve. I always thought of Chinese as the healthy take-out when I was a kid. Today most of it is worse than fast food. I want chinese with less grease, less salt, and more flavor. Something like Pei Wei but better and more local.
