Get the roast pork, BBQ pork, Duck, and Chicken.. its all good. After moving to cali, this place still aint bad!

This amazing hole in the wall place has all the BBQ Chinese foods you can dream off and more. The Roast Pork, Crispy Pork (my favorite), the Sesame Chicken and the Soya Chicken, the spare ribs are all excellent. The intestines and tripe and other organ meats are for those strong of stomach and mind!
The young lady serving behind the counter is very pleasant and the Older lady with the cleaver has taken chopping meats to an art form!
We have been going to this place for years and it has always been excellent!
There are 2 table there for a quick bite but most of their business is a take out, week ends can be busy and they may sell out some times......

2nd time to this amazing place. It's so good that your mouth will water just thinking about it after the first time trying it.

the popular bbq pork http://www.yelp.com/biz_… that you see hanging are deep fried, not roast. very crispy and juicy. Eat right away or it loses the crispiness.

The roast duck http://www.yelp.com/biz_… and I normally don't like ducks, but this thing is insanely delicious! Moist, tender duck meat under a layer of flavorful, crispy skin. O.M.G.

they sell 1 dollar meat buns http://www.yelp.com/biz_… that're size of your fist. steam or roasted meat. Really filling, the bun is soft and slightly sweet and the fillings are delicious, although the bun is too thick IMO. You can get full with just 2. Beats dollar menu from any fast food place.

For the more adventurous, they also have pig ears, pig intestines http://www.yelp.com/biz_…, duck feet, tripe and other parts of animals that you won't normally see in Publix.

The best combination for your money is to order is the meats by the 1/2 pound and get some buns to go with them, instead of have the meats over rice bento.

The place only got 2 small tables in the corner, with a line forming at lunch time, don't bother dine in. Wait time is like 20min for your food. First timers please take pictures of the menu, it'll help you call ahead next time.

tax included in the price. cash only.

Candy for your eyes if you like Chinese BBQ!!! Best roast duck!!! This place it's quite a drive but it's definitely worth it! This little wholein the wall, has ducks hanging, chicken and crispy pork!! When we came in, they had just brought in to the display window a huge crispy pork, by the time we left they had a quarter of the crispy pork left!! Talk about turnover and customers in and out!! Oh my!!! The majority of the customers were asian, between chinese, vietnamese, thai it seems we all unite and understand bbq chinese style. There were a couple of westerners, I wonder how they heard of this place!
Service is quick, you must know what you are ordering, there is a line and it's busy. One person taking the order and another person getting the pork, duck or chicken you have ordered. Not much time to think, so I strongly suggest, know what you are ordering first, then make the line. Other items: Soy Sauce Chicken, Char Siu, Duck Feet, Honeycomb, Tripe, Squid, and more.

CASH only place. Besides the BBQ items they have other freezed items, Cha Siu Bao, and other goodies. Last time I was here, many years ago, this little business was not this busy. Today, it's crazy busy!! You can see with the previous reviews, how prices have changed, $5, $6, $7.... We got a Roasted Duck over rice for $7.95.

Two little tables and a line of chairs for you to wait getting your order. It's best for take out!

Enjoy Chinese BBQ!!!!

Amazing little gem in this strip mall.

Gou Lou Cheong is a tiny little hole in the wall located on one end of this shopping plaza right next to a jewelry store. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted with dead animals and tiny elderly Asian ladies with messy aprons and butcher knives. It's amazing.

This place can get pretty packed and it's already as small as it can be. There is one table if you want to sit and eat. Because of that, I would just refer to this place as a takeout only. It's simple really. You look at the meats they have, you get in line, and you place your order.

They have roasted duck, roast pork, spare ribs, soy chicken, etc. You can order them by the pound or you can just get them on rice. Meat and rice is pretty much God's gift to Asians. And for no more than $7!

The roast duck is amazing. It's an entire roasted duckling (even the head) with chinese spices (most likely five spice). The skin is so crisp while the meat is just incredibly moist and juicy (also kind of fatty....that's a good thing). When you take this duck home, you're actually speeding up cause the aroma fills your car and you need that stuff in you right away.

The roast pork is also a thing of wonder. First of all, they hang the entire pig and you feel kind of bad until they start chopping it up, and then you refuse to leave without getting some. The skin is so crispy (it's basically chicharron attached to the meat). The meat is juicy but eat it quick, cause pork does tend to dry if left uneaten (wasn't a problem for me).

Service is alright. They're not the friendliest folks, but hey, they could give me the evil eye or make me do some dumb line ritual (a la Soup Nazi from Seinfeld) and I wouldn't stop coming back. This place is incredible. Stop reading this review and go get some meat....NOW.

Love it! Authentic Chinese BBQ and price is reasonable. Make sure you bring cash and get there early. The roast pig sold out quick.

There are tears in my eyes as I write this (just kidding). Can't believe I have found a real chinese take out place in South Florida. As another yelper put it, when you walk in you are transported to a real China town find. Located in the same general strip plaza as Silver pond but farther south near a quickie mart of sorts and a Viet jeweler. When you walk in there is a crowd waiting to order or sitting down waiting to pick up. You will hear Korean, several dialects of Chinese and Viet. The few non-Asians will be looking unsure of themselves and looking to see what to do.

This place is definitely not for the squeamish folks who think Chinese food consists of deep fried poop and egg foo something or other. There will be many eyes staring at you. But it will be coming from the eyes of the hanging ducks, chickens and the whole (yes, I said WHOLE) pig hanging from a hook. When you walk in you will be somewhat pressed against the glass where you can look and see the hanging delicious roasted food or look down into several containers holding tripe, stomach, tongue and some other mystery meats. There are steamed buns behind the counter as well. There is also a tall Chinese woman efficiently hacking up orders on huge circular cutting board that must be at least 10 inches thick.

As you make your way to the front of the counter, 2 lovely teenage girls will take your order (prices and items posted in English and Chinese on chalkboard). Handed a number and told to sit/wait. In about 5 minutes they will call your number.

The last few times I've gone I've gotten their roasted crispy pork (heaven, sheer heaven and probably their best offering). It's perfectly crispy on the outside and the meat is moist and flavorful. It runs about $6/lb. I have brought this to friends who are Asian and there has been much rejoicing. Also, had the soy chicken w/lemongrass and ginger dipping sauce (yum), roasted duck (very good), steamed pork buns (okay but at $1 it was fine) and the cha siu which was very good. This place is really inexpensive. The word is definitely getting out as the last time I went there was a line out the door. The service is quick if impersonal. Oh and in the tradition of a real Chinese place, cash only.

What kind of person are you? Would you cower or flee if you found yourself late in the evening in an abandoned half of a strip center, walked into an odd looking shop and found a take-no-crap chinese woman wielding a meat cleaver and squinting at you?

Yes? Don't come here.

Do you suffer from clouded judgment when it comes to finding great food? Gou Lou Cheong is your kind of place. Really not that horrible of a location, you can still feel a bit out of sorts coming here for the first time. The strip center has a Chinese market and the well known Silver Pond restaurant. Gou Lou Cheong is on the other side of the center and is a counter which sells Chinese BBQ you did not know you had around these parts. Pay cash, take home. You really don't want to eat there anyhow. However, it was well worth the trip for me.

Its like you warped into China when you walk through the door. Totally authentic Chinese BBQ. Whole cooked ducks hanging from hooks, soy-stewed chickens getting hacked up, crispy pork cut to order. Lunch portions are sizable. Not for squemish people that like to eat food from a factory. Also steamed pork buns for about a $1. Only two small tables I've never seen anyone eat at, so plan on takee-outee.
Come on what are you waiting for!
