This bar used to be such a fun place to go, but lately they have gone downhill. They lost a lot of business from myself and a large group of my friends. We have spent many nights in the Green Room and have also spent a lot of money. Last night was Electric Kingdom (which is supposed to be an EDM kind of night but instead all we heard the first hour that we were there were remixes of terrible 80's sounds. The DJs are terrible.) We ended up going in early, paid our $5 cover charge, bought drinks and shots, tipped our two face painters, danced a little and decided to leave and come back later in the night. We were stamped with the "official" stamp by the dumb door girl and off we went.
0130 am we decide to go back and finish off the night...we go to the bouncer with our stamps ready to be looked at and immediately he waves us off and says, you can't come in. That stamp was stolen 4 hours ago, bye. My friend had a receipt to prove that we were there that night, he didn't care. We went to another bouncer and did the same thing and he said sarcastically, "Ooooo it's so amazing that you have a receipt, that doesn't matter, you need to leave". I'm sorry but you would think that local people would be treated better, especially when they have been to the establishment a hundred times. Of course the bouncers don't know this, nor do they care, but at 0130 AM when the bar was about to close???? You would think we would have been let in... We were all completely butt hurt at the fact that we spent so much time and money there and yet...they were complete assholes about the entire STAMP problem for a measly $5 . I also was talking to another patron who was outside who had the "approved" stamp and he wasn't allowed in because it was faded. Hmm....shitty stamp ink? dancing and sweating? Could the ink have.... RUBBED OFF?? They were going to make him pay another $5 to enter. He had done the face painting also so obviously he was there. Maybe the girl guarding the stamp should have been paying more attention to her VERY important job and this whole experience would have been avoided.
They were rude and lost business from all of us. I will not be back.
This place has lost its charm and it's smelly, grungy, nastiness can't be glossed over any longer for me.
Found a new bar to go to for dancing and they have a much better atmosphere, drink specials, bartenders, and music. Monsoons has recently upped the ante and is now a dance spot on the weekends. We spent the majority of our evening there in between this tanking establishment. Thank the dancing gods for a new spot!
I like The Green Room for the most part. However, my favorite times to be here are during the day, or early on, when I can sit down and enjoy their $1 margarita specials, or something of the like. One of the best times I had there (and I've seen multiple shows) was actually when they were doing construction and had super deals, and no one was in the building except a few guys. Their 25 cent drink night, Ladies 80s, is not the best deal in town, but at least it exists from 8 to 10 on Wednesdays. 2 dollar U-Call its occur for ONE HALF HOUR after the 25 cent special ends, which is quite a scramble as you can imagine. However, it might be a better idea for them to push that special back a bit, but I guess the business is trying to make money. However, if you've got money to spend, their selection is pretty good for a casual bar.
The shows they have are great and the prices until more recently when bigger names have come in, have always been very reasonable. I saw the Polish Ambassador, a very intimate VibeSquaD show, and most recently Michal Menert of Pretty Lights Productions. Most of the time you get to chat with the artists, so it's a pretty unique experience usually. However, on the most exciting nights, when there are bigger names in the building, the place is usually a high traffic cop zone, which no one likes. I understand that sometimes things get out of hand, but often on high traffic nights, the bouncers get a little pushy and rude. One night when I had too much to drink (according to the bouncer...I "stumbled") My undersized beer in a plastic cup (which was charged to me at normal prices...some sort of "special" ploy) was forced out of my hand before I was turned out onto the street, and I wasn't allowed to signal to my friends inside that I had been kicked out.
On the whole, most of the bartenders are really nice people, very talented, and very good looking. Also, their facebook page is very well managed and they give away tickets and drinks often.
Dive type bar in Flagstaff. The best night is Wednesday Ladies 80s nights Drinks are $0.25 from 8pm-10pm (I think). It gets packed on Wednesdays but it's fun to be around a ton of 80s music, loving locals getting drunk with you! Not much seating though. Maybe 5 bar tables total to sit at. There's Foosball and pool. Decent amount of standing room at the bar too. The bartenders aren't the friendliest. Wear 80s style clothing on Wednesday nights and get in without paying the $2 cover!
Review Source:If it werent for the bouncer trying to get in my date's pants, I wouldve given this place 5 stars.
Decided to try The Green Room as a change of pace to Collins. I suggest going with the Stone Smoked Porter on tap- its pretty much Guinness's hotter older sister.
Perfect spot to end the night with a few drinks. I wish I couldve seen how it is on the weekend ( I went in on a thursday).
Enjoy!
I always hear great things about the Green Room. Â People rant on about Ladies 80's, jello shots, live bands, etc. Â It sounds like a ton of fun every time. Â Sadly, the times that I have gone to the Green Room have been a letdown. Â Boring, if not straight out gross, drinks... bad service... annoying patrons... odd smell... getting shoved from all directions by random strangers... "live," if you could call it that, techno music...
I am sure I will get roped into going back to the Green Room, but I certainly do not look forward to it.
This was my favorite place to go dancing when I lived in Flagstaff. Ladies 80s nite is where it is at. I have yet to find an 80s nite in the Bay Area that compares. (A friend and I went to one in Oakland once only to find no one dancing... wtf!?) I'm sad that I moved away before the Electric Kindgom nights started happening... because that is so my kind of music, but maybe someday I'll be lucky to be visiting on a night when that is happening.
Review Source:My absolute FAVORITE bar in Flagstaff. Home of Ladies 80's. Enough said. It's grungy, crowded, and yeah, people get crazy. All of this equates to a good time in my book! Go here on Wednesday in your 80's finest to avoid the cover, and from 8:00 to 10:00 drink your face off. (25 cent drinks, 50 cents for doubles.) After their drink special ends, go to the Joint. It's sketchy, but their drink special goes from 10:00pm to midnight for 25 cents. Basically, you can drink dirt-cheap for 4 hours.
Review Source:Big dance floor, big stage, big bar and big bouncers.
We rolled here for New Year's Eve for a few drinks. Â There was a great ska band playing. Â This more closely resembles a live music concert hall - though much smaller- than it does a bar.
The door guys were cool, the bar staff was nice and the people there were really diverse. Â I assume there would be way more college students there if it were not winter break.
Don't half step. Â Drinks here are not nearly as cheap as the other places in Flagstaff that we went to.
One of my favorite hangouts in Flagstaff. Â The stage is big which is great. Â This place also get's a lot of good national acts. Â The drinks are well priced and the sound is nice.
Another great thing is it's open early. Â Drinks are cheap in the afternoon. Â They also have darts, pool, video golf and most other fun bar games. Â Oh yeah, did I mention the best bloody mary in Flag? Â The bartenders are great. Â What else is there to say?
This place could be good, and I think they're working on it. Â Kind of a dive bar, which I like. Â Sometimes good live music. Â Other times not so good. Â (Last time I was there some DJ was playing something that sounded like they took a microphone and recorded it falling down stairs, perhaps that was the point, I don't always get art). Â I also like the beer selection, and it's pretty cheap. Â My biggest issue with this place is the consistent smell of foul body odor, which you might not notice if you drink enough. Â I don' t think it's management's fault for the hygiene of the customers, but I would support a campaign for the awareness of showers and deodorant. Â Oh, and haven't been there in a few weeks but seriously, consider a new door staff. Â These guys are going to cause more problems than they resolve.
