This used to be a decent bar.
$5 pitchers and the best karaoke around.
It's changed hands a few times over the years. I was once sitting at the bar when the owner actually took a call to discuss selling it. That's pretty cool.
The food has never been good.
(The below was also posted about Gallagher's, which is across the street, but it is true for both)
The crowd can get rowdy at times.
To be honest, I've only seen the crowd get rowdy when I was there (no shit, huh?) and that was because someone in my party usually started the rowdiness.
You can't do worse than this place when you're cruising this strip center. Of course, it's the only bar in this strip center...
I've been here a few times on the weekends when they have karaoke, and Griffin's has been filled with a mixed crowd - young and old alike. I recently went with a few friends on a Thursday night - no karaoke (fine by me) and all the other patrons seemed like regulars. It's nothing spectacular, just a regular south side bar, but it is clean enough and the staff is cordial. Plus, on Thursday nights, domestic pitchers are only $5! I was excited to find that it didn't just include your regular mix of Coors, Bud, Miller - we downed a few pitchers of Leinenkugel Oktoberfest!
They do serve food here, but I've never ate there. Griffin's is an "Irish" pub, which mostly seems to mean that they have Guinness and a few bits of Irish decorative flair here and there. Even if it's not an authentic Irish pub experience, Griffin's is still a good place to go if you're on the south side and looking for a casual place to have a beer.
