I had been hearing about this place for years and finally made my way down there last week. I showed up and I felt like everyone immediately turned around to see who the "new girl" was. Pretty awkward. In fact, people kept making comments "Who are you? You're not from around these parts are you?" When actually, yes, I am an IC local thank-you-very-much.
Things I learned: 1) it's definitely a locals bar. 2) music selection is all over the place, which could be good or bad. Flaming lips at one point, then slayer the next. 3) there's a cool beer garden, always a plus 4) beer selection sucks, but the price is right. $5 pitchers on Fridays.
With a name like Grizzly's you know at first glance at least a little of what to expect! Here was a have a pretty solid local dive bar that serves up a good number of beers on draft and in the bottle. Good special on a Friday night w/ $5 domestic pitchers and they make a pretty mean malibu and pineapple (according to my better half).
What sets this place apart is the decor. You're greeted by a huge moose head over top of the bar and around the entire place are many a large animal! Â It makes me reminisce of the game "Oregon Trail" and what I imagine a man cave would have looked like after the journey. Luckily, there was no typhoid fever to be found, but rather some very friendly bar tenders, many a pool table and dart board, ski ball and....drumroll....The classics - Big Buck Hunter and Golden Tee where for $2.50 you can go buffalo hunting or play one of 100 courses in the country and enjoy a pitcher of coors to boot!
Overall, this is fun spot to head to when you're looking for a chill evening with friends. Don't show up and expect to be wowed by decor or plan to have discussions about whos turtleneck makes them look the most distinguished, but do go if you're down for some inexpensive libations and some great times with vids that you'll remember from when going to the arcade was cool!
