We enjoyed the Groggy Frog. Â We went on a Sunday with a http://Restaurant.com certificate not knowing what to expect. Â We really liked the food and the service was great. Â We have been back a few times since to enjoy the patio during happy hour. Just wish they would serve food during the afternoon before 6 pm on weekdays.
Review Source:When I first entered, it seemed like the Groggy Frogg iis more of a bar than a restaurant. Â I'd recommend going early or on weekdays to have a meal. Â They had very juicy, handcrafted burgers and some of the best and most authentic Mexican food I have ever eaten, which was a pleasant surprise. Â
For a place that seems to have a reputation for great beer, the selection was not terribly impressive and there are only one or two tables to sit and eat at. Â The quality of the food here is outstanding and I can only hope that the owners make it more inviting for casual diners looking for a great meal.
Located within a block of at least 5 bars in the heart of downtown Southingon lies this great watering hole. Â Cool little cozy pub, very nice draft beer selection, great bartenders, and tasy food. Â Karaoke Thursdays and live music some nights. Â Definitely a must see for the local crowd. Â Bonus: Â Nice side patio.
Review Source:A buddy and me went here on a Saturday night because his friends are in a band (Drift) that was performing there. I was told "great cover band, all songs you will know." Well, they were good...but not really my idea of a bar cover band playing only songs you can sing to. Although, they did play a Weezer song so.....
Needless to say, the place was pretty cool. Reasonably priced everything, good aesthetic feel, typical CT crowd ranging from 20s to 50s. There were some REALLY cute girls there, but they were all with their boyfriends. Go figure...
We also tried their snacks and I was impressed, although it is hard to mess up bacon/cheese fries. Ultimately the place is too small to have a band play. They take up good standing room and then everyone is facing them, so it is hard to maneuver. Plus, people are too scared to get close to the band so their is a big chunk of wasted space between them and the crowd. I prefer a jukebox 9 times out of 10.
Check it out cause it is a really nice area of Southington anyway.
This is a little bar that has nice food and drinks.
We always go on a Sunday, 1/2 price wings, but when we go for lunch, even tho the kitchens open at noon no one is ever there to cook! Â So if you want 1/2 price wings go for dinner.
Friday and Saturday nights are nice, there is always a live band playing. Â The place is small so it gets hot and packed. Â
The wings are amazing. Hot or mild, both are great. Â They smell so good, you have to order them! Â Fries are also good. Â They have a small menu- appetizers, sandwiches and burgers. Â Never had a bad experience, except when the kitchen isn't open when it should be.
Drinks are reasonable. Â A big pint beer glass of a mixed drink is $5 or so depending. Â Bartenders are always nice.
They also have a bunch of TV for sports games!
