This is a true Nevada (old Nevada) type of good home grown cooking. My Dad and I had a coupon for this place and decided to give it a try.

The location, she's not so great. But that's not what makes this food joint good to eat at. Grumpy's is located on Oddie (Odd Dee) in the same shopping center where Sparks Cafe and UCP Thrift shop is.
We walked inside and the dining room was empty. Hmm, I thought. Odd, but then again, it was 1:00 PM and the lunch crowd probably left. So, we went in. Didn't see anyone, but started to look around at the decor. It's sparse, but that, in of itself, doesn't tell you if it's a good place to eat or not.  Within about 30 seconds, Terry came in and was very pleasant. She made us feel at home and we sat down. She took our drink order and brought us our drinks.

After a few minutes reviewing the menu, Terry took our order. I ordered the 1/2 pound Hamburger and my Dad the 1/2 pound Patty Melt. Both orders were with fries and no salt on the fries.

Within a very reasonable length of time, the meal came out. The fries are what caught my attention first. OMG! Look at them. View the photos, the fries are just as they appear. They came out hot as hell (quote from my Dad). Needless to say, as you can see in the photos, they are THICK cut cooked very nicely. Best eaten HOT and that's how they were served.
Now that I ate a fry and burnt my tongue. I hungrily looked at the burger. MMMMMMMmmm! I grabbed the burger. There was a bit more mayonnaise  than I would hope for, but then it's hard to please everyone. I was still happy with it. I bit into that 1/2 pound burger. OH! It was burning hot (how I like it), juicy and BIG!  

The only thing to the burger I would do different, would be to serve it with the lettuce on the side. The burger is sooo hot that it wilts the lettuce. Other than that, I WILL go back again.

Now, for the parts that are okay. This restaurant is a Mom & Pop (Grumpy) operation. It's not the "hippest" looking place in town. So don't go there expecting Hash House a gogo. But, if you want a great burger or patty melt with FRESH THICK CUT FRIES, then go here!

Great for lunch and the prices are fantastic!
Hamburger is about $7.99 for the 1/2 pound burger (cheese extra) or patty melt.
Absolutely GREAT!

Grumpy's has that old style Nevada greasy spoon feel.
