Izakayas are cropping up everywhere-- and as a sushi-phobe with a Japanese wife, I couldn't be happier.  If you didn't know that Japanese food included such amazing options as fried chicken and meatballs to accompany your ice cold Asahi, then allow me to enlighten your mind while en-heavy-ing your physique by introducing the Izakaya.

While I don't understand Japanese, I'm a big fan of any culture that approves of meat on a stick, and at Gyoro Gyoro, I was not disappointed.  If you think the Japanese have improved cars and televisions, just imagine what they've done to fried chicken!  Or better still, go and try it for yourself.

With excellent food and a beautiful interior, Gyoro Gyoro may be the best Izakaya in the valley.  But as a true scientist, my research will continue.

My husband and I went here for our anniversary and it was a fantastic new place. Great atmosphere, fantastic servers (Cheyenne is fab) and the food is yummy!   The Albacore Crispy Onion, Tempura Vegetable Chips, Scallop California Roll...YUM!  All while sitting outside on couches on their comfortable patio.  A lovely evening...

Love this place! Been working in encino for over 14 years now and there is nothing like it! Fresh sushi and yummy grilled skewers (teppanyaki). I am so glad they came into the center. Now we have a great lunch, happy hour, and after work dinner place to go to! My favorite is sitting outside in the cushy lounge area by the fire pit. The ambiance and decor is fab! They really went all out!!

very disappointing! came for happy hour with a friend. she ordered a lychee-tini which was gross. they make their cocktails with sake and not vodka. well, the menu did not mention that detail and neither did our server. we ordered the trio of spicy rolls expecting rolls made with seaweed paper like every other sushi restaurant makes however this place serves them in a crispy wonton shell. very odd and unexpected. again the menu did not mention this detail and neither did the server. i will not be back to this place. there are waaaayyy too many great sushi restaurants in the area to enjoy. avoid this place!

This place is great! Just tried it a few nights ago and we are back again.

First, the service is wonderful; Chris and Cheyenne are by far the dynamic duo of Encino servers (you can decide which one is Batman and which is Robin). Regardless, they are great fun and have taken great care of us both times we've been here.

Next, the food is amazing. The Yellowtail Jalapeño & Habanero is fantastic, as is the Albacore Crispy Onion, the Izakaya (or i think they are called Yakitori) skewers (vegetables and beef wrapped asparagus and bacon wrapped tomatoes [per my roommate since I don't eat beef or pork]), the West Covina roll, and the Crunchy roll (we suggest you add cream cheese). The desserts are all great that we've tried, especially the vanilla ice cream, edamame ice cream, the green tea creme brûlée, the coffee and green tea tiramisu, and the watermelon shaved ice.

Finally, the atmosphere and decor are awesome. Modern, fun and just the right amount of traditional Japanese decor (though the red lights in the bathrooms are a bit off-putting). They also have an open kitchen and a great outdoor patio. The back room with color changing cubes on the ceiling is pretty awesome too.

I definitely believe that if you are willing to try a new place in the valley, this is the one to try.

Gyoro Gyoro was an Amazing Experience from the amazing service to the cocktails .
The sushi was fresh and the rolls were fantastic.
For Encino this place is exactly what the neighborhood needed, a great restaurant so new and so fresh. Such a all around good experience.
I don't understand how anyone can have 1 drink and make judgement .
When you go there try the Beef Tongue Demi Glace stew.
5 stars Amazing Food Drinks and Service

    Will be back !!

First of all, if you want a great atmosphere to lounge and enjoy excellent food, this is the place to go. My friends and I went to check it out, as we had seen the building under construction for quite some time, and we will definitely go back. We sat on the covered patio in comfortable sofas next to the fire pit. Such a great place to dine! Then, as you walk through the large restaurant, it is obvious they spared no expense and the classy, rock star chic vibe makes you feel important.

Secondly, the food was DELICIOUS! There is an extensive menu, so there is even more to go back and try next time, but we got the West Covina roll with seared salmon and orange salsa on top. So friggin' good! The yakitori blew my mind and the albacore fried onion from the starters was great. The only way I would have known how to order from the large menu was because of my server. Very knowledgeable, gave friendly and attentive service, and guided us through a tasty dinner. Thanks for that, Kyle!

All in all, I had a great experience. I highly recommend checking it out!

With the amount of GREAT sushi restaurants in this area, this place is a disgrace. The fish was subpar and did not look or taste fresh. The staff is inexperienced and to busy talking amongst themselves to care about the customers. We had watched the renovations and were looking forward to the "Grand Opening". What a huge disappointment. If you want good sushi don't waste your time or money eating here. YUCK! :(

My husband and I went there for a great dinner last night, 10 days after it's opening.  First of all, the place is HUGE and in a bit of a hidden location in the BB & B shopping center on Ventura.  That said, I do hope people find it!  Great ambiance, which is often not the case in sushi places (we sat at a booth on the patio by the fire pit!).  Chris and Heber were our waiters and they were very attentive and gave us excellent suggestions.  They didn't try to talk you into the most expensive saki or specials which I appreciate.  Totally reasonable priced as well.  We will be back!

Five stars because I can safely say this is the best Japanese restaurant in the valley, and yes I think it's better than katsu ya.  Sushi is cut fat and fresh.  The special lobster was huge and sweet for only $14.  Every skewer was tasty and well seasoned.  I hope they succeed and last a long long time because the valley really needs more quality food!

My husband and I went there for our anniversary dinner. The food and sake were great. We ate mostly from the happy hour menu which was really tasty.  The staff were friendly.

The reason for 4 stars is because the menu lacked detailed descriptions of the dishes leaving us with many questions that our waitress struggled to answer.

I agree with the person who described the price of the martini!  Wow - $20 is way way out of line.  Give them a break- they are new to the area and should learn the local pricing.  On the other hand, the restaurant is AMAZING!  The food is very very good- the yakatori (we tried shishito peppers and okra), the sushi was very good for the valley, and the tempura and combination plate could not have been better.

Give them a try and please ask the price first before you order bar drinks.  The prices are not listed on their menu.  The decor is absolutely fabulous.  You have to see it!  Ultra modern, beautiful lighting, etc.  This type of restaurant is well known in Japan. It's mainly for drinking, socializing, and having a good time.  I think they are called "izakawa" style.

I live in the area and was excited to try Gyoro-Gyoro, because there are a lack of restaurants with full bars in the neighborhood, and I can literally walk to this place. My friend had been a couple times so I decided to check it out, so I stopped by for a drink. BIG MISTAKE!!!! The view on the patio was nice, and the food looked good ( I didn't try it). However, I ordered a Cosmo at the bar. Bartender, who I think is the manager, asked me if I wanted any particular vodka. I said , sure why not I'll have it with Kettle One. He makes my Kettle Martini and it was okay, but drinkable. I had to leave shortly so only had one, when I got my bill, I was charged $20 for the ONE Martini! The check said "martini" and "kettle one", it looked as if he made a mistake and charged me twice. When I asked about it, he simply said that "that's how we charge it  here, as a double". The thing is, I didn't ask for a double nor did I receive a double. No other restaurant charges a premium martini at double the price, it is normally just a $1-3 up charge. The bartender/manager didn't care that it was bothering me that I felt totally ripped off, especially since he didn't tell me that I was going to be charged twice and didn't even as a courtesy adjust the bill. He even made the comment, "Aren't you glad you didn't get another one?".

Nonetheless, I paid for the $20 okay drink, and decided to never go back. I dine at high end restaurants all the time, money isn't an issue for me, but I do not like to feel taken advantage of or ripped off, and that is exactly how I felt coming here. Never again will I be back, and I'm telling all my friends not to patronize the place. Sucks because I was really looking forward to making it my new spot. Their loss.
