Meh.  I dont' understand why people are giving this place such good reviews.  It's more bar than BBQ restaraunt.  The ribs were simply OK, the brisket was awful and service was not that great either.

I don't get it - if you want good BBQ, go to Deep Run Roadhouse, Buzz & Neds, or Q BBQ.  If you a bar, that serves food that resembles BBQ, go here!

Came here to listen to some friends perform and realized really quickly why I have never been here. The beer selection was not too great and the service was spotty with our waitress. The atmosphere is a lot of fun with TVs and tables grouped together. My husband ordered the fish and chips and they came out deep fried and burnt. When we initially mentioned it to the waitress, she said to try it out and she'd come back to confirm if we wanted a new plate. She didn't come back for 20 minutes or so and we requested a new plate when it happened. Kudos to the head cook from coming out with what was a dramatically better plate of fish and chips and to apologize for the previous plate. I had the pulled pork plate with their hushpuppies and coleslaw and I felt that it was okay flavors in comparison to other BBQ I've had in Richmond.

Overall I just didn't have a great experience with the drinks or the food and wouldn't come again.

I'm not sure why this place has such a low score for ratings on here. The place had large meal portions and they were delicious. The waiter service was great. My fiance thought the smoked wings were the best he's had in Richmond. We'll definitely go back here again.

The food is great, the service is hit or miss.  I had a bartender named Dori last night who was exactly like the fish in Finding Nemo...FORGETFUL!  Slow and forgetful unfortunately.  The last time, our service was excellent.  The bar atmosphere is great, and the fire truck is seriously awesome!  The BBQ is tasty, they also have a fun shooter/bomb that if you buy they will set the sirens off on the fire truck.  Hot firemen occasionally patron this tasty establishment.  They are in a great spot and have outdoor seating.  I like karaoke nights here, because you get to sing on top of the fire truck!

A fun place for drinks and apps, but the food is largely forgettable.

I've been trying to like this restaurant/bar because it has a nice outdoor eating area in a fun hustle and bustle part of Short Pump, and its signature brew, the Smokeeater, is pretty good and very inexpensive. However, I've pretty much listed the best features. Time and again, the service has ranged from fair to, well, fair. It seems that even when they are not very busy, we have had to wait an inordinate amount of time for our food/drinks. Last night, sitting at a table just an arms length from the bar (no exaggeration) and in an effort to be loyal to our server, we ordered a beer from her after coming in from an outside table (instead of ordering from the bar.) 15 minutes later, no beer. I could have had one from the bar 15 minutes earlier but I was trying to be polite. Unfortunately, politeness left me thirsty. Finally I simply had to cancel the order because I was up against the end of babysitter time.  The food is another disappointment. The chips, touted as "homemade" were lackluster at best. The salsa, was it canned guys? It sure didn't taste fresh. Wings aren't bad, potato salad is pretty good, but everything else I've tried from fish and chips to burgers to nachos are just so so and I doubt I'll find myself saying, "hey, I'm craving some potato salad, let's go hit the Halligan!" So basically, it's a nice location to go to sit outside on a warm night for a cold brew, but don't expect fast service, and eat before you come.

I always enjoy the food.  On weekdays the lunch menu is pretty cheap for the quality of the food and portions: $6 for a drink, sandwich and side or you can have two sandwiches (it's a $1, 2, 3, type of thing from a short menu!)  The service is always quick, efficient and pleasant.  Try the pulled chicken sandwich, it's the one place that I've had it where it doesn't come across like day old chicken that was leftover and put to good use (if that's what they do, they have a great way of masking it).   This is also a fun happy hour place with the girls!  Sit at the Fire engine bar and get one of their special shots.

We made reservations for 8 people and when we got there they sat half our group on one side of the resturant and half on the other.  It was horrible, we ended up finding a smaller table and pushed it against the other larger table so we could all crowd around together.  The waiter, did try to make things right, but the hostess was the one who really didn't do the job.  My boyfriend and I split a bbq plate, with mac and cheese, hush puppies and coleslaw. It was really good, but a few hours later and the next day, we were both sick!  I don't think I will be going back to eat.  The bar atmosphere was nice, but I will take my chances on other places, before going back here.

Good place! Love the BBQ. Quick service since it was a slow day for them. Bartenders were awesome though and drinks were on point. I ordered the Beef Brisket Sandwich with Coleslaw. Check it out sometime if you want a quick bite.

While visiting the Richmond area, I had went to the Halligan for lunch.  The fire house theme was very prevalent here, both in their menu and the decor, even including a fire truck inside the restaurant.  It was suggested to me that I try out their barbecue selections.  I tried the barbecue triple stack, which includes brisket, pulled pork and chicken, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

This place is an A+++++++ from drinks to food to everything. service is great! they have a tap you can control to pour your own beer at your table on top of the fire truck .The best nachos you ever had . portion sizes are out standing even  great reasonable prices. it's kinda hidden across from Dave and busters.from Kids and family to just the guys or girls night out this place is awesome the fire truck inside as their bar fantastic. We love this place  :) even totally separate room for smokers (I think) like it's own separate restaurant. across the board recommend this place to everyone a definite must try for everyone.!!!!!!

Calling it a bar definitely does not do justice to the awesome food they serve. LOVE LOVE the wings here, one of the BEST I've ever had.  Food portions is great. We were there for lunch one day and our waitress was alright.  Definitely helps that we live in the neighborhood as well.
