Sep. update, when you see some 1 stars and then lots of 5 stars you wonder how many employees are Yelping. Â Had drinks which were OK but bartender spends plenty of time talking to regulars and you're 2nd fiddle. Â Read on about the horrible barffet...
Easter buffet, our waitress yelled at a buffet food runner for consolidating the dried-out biscuits with his hands and he moved the last 2 with greasy tongs that had fallen into the Gordon Food Service enriched flour filler breakfast sausages. Â I repeatedly said "excuse me" to the food runners that silently squeezed between me to consolidate institutional food. Â Unseasoned (meaning "lightly" seasoned) prime rib. Â Flavorless chicken parm. Â If it's worth doing why not do it right? Â All the pies were GFS too probably, my apple pie had an apple seed. Â No iceberg lettuce. Â Institutional eggs. Â Horrible bacon, why not serve LESS bacon and make it quality Oscar Mayer? Â
The coup de grâce (n., a blow meant to end the suffering of a wounded creature), was the compulsory 18% tip for taking plates and putting carafes of iced tea at your table.  For this I expect to not go on Splenda discovery expeditions and have polite food runners not consolidate with mechanic's hands.  Dan G. was accurate in his review.  My point is if you put Chili's food or Redamak's up against the food here price-wise and taste it's no contest.
I've been here now 4 times and love it more every time we go. Â The pizza is truly homemade and has an authentic Italian taste. Â The sandwiches and steaks are wonderful and even the appetizers are yummy. Â
My family and I typically eat at local holiday buffets for Easter or mothers day and other holidays and haven't found a better buffet than Hammers. The food is hot and quality at a lower price than most, I even love the biscuits and gravy. Â I only wish they had the buffet more often like they use to. Â They even offer a reasonably priced catering menu, so check it out.
The only thing I would complain about is the french fries. Â They are small like the shoestring fries and very little potato taste. Â Frankly, McDonalds fries are better.
One last thing, the waitstaff is super attentive and friendly. Â The last two times we were there Sue waited on us and she was amazing.
Hammers is alright. Â The fam is in town here and we always seem to end up here for the buffet on holidays. Â The food is good. Â Even though the restaurant is smoke free it still spills over from the bar. Â I could really do without that. Â I'll update with better details after our next visit.
