Let me start off by saying that the food here is wonderful. Â If the love of food is all you care about then you need to stop in here if you're in the area or traveling on Hwy 85. Â If you care about service then maybe you should prepare yourself first before you step in the front door the first time. Â Please be prepared to be ignored by the young girl at the counter for about the first 10 minutes. Â We waited quietly to be seated and all she did was sit there are stare at us the whole time. Â Come to find out they don't have a wait staff. Â WTF!!! Â You order at the counter, pay, get your glass and then it's all up to you from there.
So we finally figured it all out without any help from the young girl and go over to make our drinks. Â The tea was out so of course we look back at the young girl for help. Â She gave us a look that said "so what, pick something else to drink." Â
At this point there were several employees just standing around chatting so I spoke up and complained to all of them about how poor the service was. Â This caused one young man working here to take notice and take care of us the rest of our visit. Â He was great after that so we left him a generous tip. Â
So, after all that, please do try them out for the food. Â As for the restaurant owner, stop wasting your money on paying your employees without the opportunity for them to earn tips. Â Hire a wait staff so your patrons can enjoy the whole experience of your restaurant.
We live in the Oxford area...with that said, I was GREATLY disappointed!!! We arrived at 11:10 (they open at 11:00) the doors were still locked, the girl working unlocked the door but said nothing to us that they were ready for service. We entered the restaurant, no greeting.. she stood behind the counter drinker her glass of water while we tried to order. It seemed that everyone working in the restaurant seemed so unhappy...not one smile!! As far as the food..it was very good. But not the way to keep locals coming back!
Review Source:With all the positive views, we arrived at Harvest with pretty high expectations. The location was nice and we sat on the porch for dinner with our kids. Beer and wine were well priced and service friendly.
We ordered only entrees quickly and then sat for 45 minutes waiting for the food to arrive. This was on a Saturday night, early, with the place less than half full. Entrees were priced around $18 each and sounded good. We ordered chicken breast and pork tenderloin. Unfortunately, both the pork and chicken were dry. One was served with a stodgy risotto and one with grits that resembled hard scrambled eggs. There were some nice fresh veggies on the dish but no sauce to help the heavy dry dishes.
We opted not to stay for dessert, and left feeling like we'd overpaid for the food. The flavors were good but it did not live up to the hype. Sorry Harvest - I could have cooked it better myself. Perhaps lunch is more successful here...?
We were on our way home traveling northbound I-85, and I really didn't want fast food. I found this place on yelp. It's a few minutes off the interstate, but worth the drive if you are in need of a good lunch.
The food is all very fresh. I had the Rueben, and a house salad. Reuben's don't get much better than this one! My wife had a chicken wrap that she liked a lot.
My parents live in VA and I go to UNC, so I drive through here pretty often. I've stopped at Harvest a few times and it's really good. I only tried their sandwiches so I can't comment on anything else. I can remember exactly what I got when I went almost 6 months ago - a braised turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce (or something to that effect). It was awesome.
Just watch out for their hours. I've made the detour twice on weekend afternoons, not realizing they're not open...
Get off 85 and eat here! Â Spotlessly clean. Â Superb sandwiches on home made bread and rolls. Â Clever soups. Â Had the Chinese sausage, turnip and spicy greens but the broth alone was superb. Â My Cajun meatloaf sandwich full of flavor, tender, with a nice crust plus two large slices in my sandwich made for an awesome lunch. Partner's turkey sandwich was " VERY good". Clean, fresh, unembellished healthy goodness. Â Small town. Â Big flavor. Modest place that performs atan excellent level
Review Source:Ladies and gentlemen, this is why yelp is awesome. Â The next time you are driving on Interstate 85, and you need to stop for lunch, fit this place into your trip, but don't park at CVS.
The lower level of a pretty large house has been converted a restaurant/sandwich shop. Â You'll enter through the CVS side. On your right will be the counter where you order, on the left a cooler full of drinks including a pretty respectable selection of microbrews. Â In front of you is the drink counter, and above that, the menu. Â
This is a true gem of a place like Michael H says. Â It's quaint and tucked away in an unassuming town just a short drive from the usual rest area monster chains like McDonalds, BK and Wendys. Â I got the chicken salad, which was a bit oniony, but still very tasty, and the vegetable soup with pasta. Â My girlfriend got the grilled chicken with feta, balsamic reduction, roasted peppers and spinach on a wrap, but she got it on a croissant. Â That was really tasty too. Â She also got a mixed lettuce salad and it was all very fresh and not one smidge of wilted anything. Â
Sandwiches are $6, soup or salad is $2. Â It's a cheap lunch and great for a small town. Â Since all their produce is locally sourced, I'm sure the menu changes frequently. Â The dining sets are all dark wood, hardwood floors and what looks like a fireplace in each room. Â I'm not sure they work though. Â
On a side note, the bathrooms are HUGE! Â Well, the men's room is anyway.
Locally owned & operated serving farm fresh food to your table. Â This is the motto of this sandwich place. Â Small menu to chose from like Roast beef with horseradish crema sauce on wheat or smoked ham with tillamook cheddar cheese on sourdough bread or smoked turkey on rye with cranberry relish or spicy meatloaf on marbled rye. Â They also had a grilled cheese with provolone, asiago & Havarti. Â Sides were cole slaw, house salad & sunchips. Â The inside of the restaurant kinda felt like the inside of your mothers home. Â Very nice. Â The hours they are open was limited to 11am to 3pm Tuesday to Friday for lunch and the diner hours were short only Friday & Saturday from 5pm to 9pm.

Who knew that such a gem of a restaurant was hiding in downtown Oxford? I stumbled (almost literally) on this place last weekend and decided to give it a try, and I'm glad I did. My turkey sandwich was everything a sandwich should be; juicy, rich, freshly sliced turkey on sturdy, nutty bread with a delicious homemade hot cranberry jam. Even the tomato soup was thick and steamy, and I didn't let one bit of it escape from being sopped up. Yes, I'll be back!
Review Source:I have family in North Carolina and they took my boyfriend and I to this new place called Harvest Restaurant. We walked in and the set up inside was very inviting. The entire experience was spectacular. The service was prompt but, we never felt rushed through our meal. Our waiter was friendly and very helpful. I had the rigatoni with sausage and ricotta that was out of this world and my boyfriend had the halibut with black eyed pea succotash that was just as delicious. I mean I am an Italian girl that is picky about her pasta and the dish was creamy but, the cheese did not take away from the savory flavor of the sausage. You can tell that each dish at the table was artfully crafted by the chef and his staff. I wish this restaurant was closer to home for me because it has now become my new favorite restaurant. Keep up the great work Harvest Restaurant! Can't wait for my next visit!
