  On a drive to farmers market we stopped at Hess for lunch.  We ordered the BBQ chicken, beef and pulled pork, since there were 4 of us. The portions were very large and probably big enough for 2. However, we were not impressed with the food. The beef was very dry, as was the pork.  It was worth a shot.

  May have been the best restaurant experience I've ever had.  The owner and his staff were extremely friendly, and they served the absolute best pulled pork sandwich and brisket that I've ever had.

  The Log cabin is a terrific place for lunch! The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because there is no indoor seating so the ambience depends on weather.  
  The food is all fresh made daily.  The pulled pork is bbq'd in a pit right outside. Nine bucks will get you a hefty pulled pork sandwich (or other meat), two sides and a soda or fresh tea.

  Tried Hess's BBQ at the MD State BBQ Bash. We decided to try their food because of the numerous awards they had won. Unfortunately they must not had been serving us what I would call "championship" BBQ.
  
  The pulled pork was completely bland. The gentleman serving us offered us a try of their ribs and they were both bland and dry. The slaw tasted like something you get at KFC. The beans were so-so, but runny for my taste.
  
  For the amount of awards they have won, I was extremely disappointed.  Next year, I will skip their stand.

  After a leisurely drive in the country my wife and I stopped at Hess's BBQ for lunch. We had the three meat platter - I had brisket, chicken and ribs and my wife had pulled pork instead of the ribs. All the meats were done to perfection.
  
  The sides were very good as well - corn bread (huge piece), Texas style baked beans and mac & cheese.
  
  Add a drink to both meals and the total came to $30 for the two of us.Money very well spent in my opinion. I highly recommend Hess's for everyone who loves great Que.

  Truely deserving of a 5 star review, Hess' puts out a prime spread for your catering and take out pleasure! Prices are very reasonable, BBQ and side menu items are excellent and well prepared, and servings per person are most generous! I have had the opprotunity to deal with the catering service for a non-profit banquet, as well as picking up some take out in the shop for dinner after a long day of Lancaster shopping. Service is very friendly and helpful!
  How can you make this place better? The seasonal dining at a Barnstormers game and the Log Cabin in front of the shop, AND, they are setting up online ordering soon!
  BBQ HEAVEN.
