***Beware-they added money to my visa receipt!***
We went last Friday, 7/5. The woman behind the bar was unbelievably rude & very sarcastic, I don't know why she is working at a job she seems to hate so much. We had 1 drink, paid by visa debit, & left. I purposely left no tip, they should have tipped us for having to deal with her nasty attitude! Â When I checked my account they had helped themselves to a $4 tip!
I called & asked for the owner who I was told was not in & spoke to Trina who said she was the manager, after explaining to her what had happened she said she would check Friday night's receipts & get back to me. She later left me a message saying she couldn't find the receipt so she couldn't do anything about it & said I could call back if I wanted to, of course I did,3 times! Each time I was sent to voice mail, I left a message telling her I was opening a dispute through my bank which I did & was refunded my money.
Whoever did this needs to be fired, what a crook! I also wonder how often this is done to other people who might not notice it.
I would have liked to bring this to the owners attention & I did call a few more times but the owner is never in, Hmmm?
This was a horrible experience & I am still shocked at how dishonest this employee(s) is!
The beer prices were good and our server was nice.
The food wasn't my favorite. I got chicken fingers and fries. fries were very plain and the chicken was hard to eat because of some tough bits : / Â But my friends burger looked very good and the fried mushrooms looked tasty too!
I would go back but mostly for the drinks and service.
My husband and I ventured here after a night bowling at the infamous Bowlero. I don't know why but I always thought this place was a diner - it just seems like such a strange location for a bar. But then again Hide Out is a strange name for a diner. Whatever.
Anyway - we got here late, around 11:30 - and I'm not sure if the kitchen is normally open at that time but the waitress was able to get the cook to agree to make us something to eat. We decided on a pizza and I for one thought it was fantastic. But then again I'd been bowling for 3 hours and drinking to stand bowling for 3 hours. My husband thought it was bland - I suppose we'll have to try it again.
The place itself was nice, not too busy for a Saturday night. Much bigger inside than it seems from outside. The waitress was attentive and chipper.
I'll give it another go at the start of the evening next time to see it's true colors.
I'm a Renshaws loyalist and this place isn't as good, if you ask me. It's nice, don't get me wrong, just not my Clawson sports bar of choice. There are plenty of TVs, a few beers on tap, a decent sized menu, and good food specials throughout the week. Â I just like Renshaws much larger draft beer selection and food better.
Review Source:Staff is great and that's the only good part of it. Â
The food was horrendous. Â I sent a salad back because the lettuce wasent cleaned and had sand on it. Â Yes sand. Â The waitress apologized and said it wasent washed by the kitchen. Â A bit concerning.
My buddies chili dogs were cold and the chips had mold.
Like I said the staff was great and the beer was cheap. Â I'd come back for drinks but never again for food.
So I was a little wary of such a dive, isolated from the rest of the area's already sparse nightlife. However, I gotta admit: this bar is kind of like home now. Great lunch and drink specials with surprisingly decent food and strong drinks. Great martini selection. The staff are friendly and awesome, remembering you and even your preferred drinks. (to be fair Im probably the only regular who orders chocolate martinis though).
anyway, especially if you're from around the area, check it out. Sports bar dive bar hybrid, its a great place to catch a Tigers game (beer specials during the games!) or watch the Spartans.
The Hideout is a great bar - Nothing special, nothing fancy, but just an overall good place to hang out. I go there every once in a while and am somewhat of a regular. The people that work there are cool, the drinks are good and cheap, and the crowd is solid. Not a snobby type place, just an all round good American bar. Food is decent, not great but not bad, but cheap
The Hideout is a good place. Try it.
Nice sports bar with big televisions all around. The wait staff is pretty nice and they always have specials. The food is pretty decent and the menu is huge. I live right down the street so this place is perfect to just get out of the house and watch a game or two.
This place is way bigger then you realize.
This is probably my choice dive west of Dequindre. The beer is cheap, the atmosphere is roomy, the vibe is chill and fun, and the menu is pretty extensive. I've had numerous things from the menu and I've never really been disappointed.
It's a nice option on a weekend if you want a decent meal and some beers but don't want to deal with the shenanigans and price tags of downtown Royal Oak.
Good food, pretty cheap, and when you get a gift certificate from <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2FRestaurant.com&s=0aab4cbd731f3d3b0d1453050d3abc56a8c80bd214e25469c7555b750dca8a51" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://Restaurant.com</a>, you can use it for drinks too!
Speaking of drinks, $2 23-ounce drafts. Â Oh yeah
Can't wait until May when the smoking ban goes into effect, I'll spend more time here.
The Hideout is my favorite bar, without a doubt, and here is why.
1. $2 23oz (yep, that's right, 23oz!) drafts (Miller/Bud) all the time. Â Not just happy hour, not just games, ALL THE TIME. Find me a cheaper beer special, try it. Â No luck? Â Exactly. Â They also have $5 pitchers all the time as well and shots are cheap.
2. Okay the tv's need a little updating, but I can put up with that during a game because, $2 double drafts! Â Seriously though, during a game this place has a great atmosphere. Â The crowd is rowdy, but friendly. Â Get there early though because it fills up fast and seats are hard to come by.
3. It's a "Cheers" bar. Â Go there enough, and they'll know your name - and so will other patrons. Â There's about 4 groups of drinkers between 25 - 35 and we're there weeknights. Â We all have gotten to know each other, shoot pool and buy each other shots. Â It's a good atmosphere.
4. The food is awesome. Â As far as bar food goes, there's is pretty excellent. Â They also have a special. Â For $5 you get a sandwich/burger, a side and a 12oz draft beer --- yeah beat that! Â Appetizers are good too, and honestly I've never had anything bad there.
5. You can smoke there. Â This is a true smoker's bar. Â If you don't like cigarettes, DO NOT GO. Â Plain and simple. Â There are plenty of other establishments you people have taken over. Â This place has so much smoke in it that even if you made it a non - smoking bar you could inhale the smoke residue left behind for probably another 20 years - at least. Â However, if you do go there and the smoke bothers you, sit toward the front (the 14 mile part). Â It's more open and less smoking. Â THe dingy old part is the real dirty part and the most fun.
6. Â The waitresses treat you right. Â They are all skinny blondes and they all look the same and I still get them confused, but they are quick with your drinks, your tab or whatever else you need and never have attitude. Â They get to know you and will serve you quicker on game nights if you've been a good customer. Â They'll also hold a table for you if you ask nicely.
7. $2 BEERS PEOPLE!
The Hideout is about the best argument for anti-smoking legislation in Michigan. Â When I smoked for years, this was such a great place. Â Cheap drinks, decent bar food, one of the first digital juke-boxes around. Â I didn't notice the smoke as I was lighting up my own, but my wife always made comments about how smoky it was. Â When I quit, this became painfully obvious.
After the bar was renovated a couple years ago, we had great expectations that the ventilation would be improved. Â Sadly, it isn't any better. Â
I will say the new front room was a great addition. Â This is a great place to catch a game or just to go for beers. Â They did such a great job renovating this place as far as the atmosphere. Â And you can still get a tall boy of Miller light for next to nothing.
Yet, we have nicknamed this place "The Smokeout" because it's smokier than any other bar around the D. Â If Michigan joins the rest of the progressive states like Ohio and Indiana (lol) and passes the no-smoking law, we will literally become regulars, as we live down the street. Â This is a great bar with a lot of opportunity (cheap booze, great service, pool table, etc.). Â But for now, other bars in town are enjoying my beer money and I am enjoying healthier lungs..
used to come here quite a bit for happy hour, and to grab some grub after work. huge domestics for like $2 for happy hour... daddy like. Â the burgers are pretty darn good, and for bar food... is a good spot to go. Â there are quite a few tv's with, basically, what is two separate bars area's in this place. Â there is the front, which is horrible set up, a risen area with tables, and a walkway next to a bar that runs the entire front area, the walk thru is about 1 1/2 people wide. Â my favorite are the people who seem completely oblivious to the things that surround them... and use their massive back to monopolize the entire space. Â it's like when you're pulling into a parking spot and you see someone in the car next to the spot you're entering, sitting at the wheel... and you're just waiting for that person to open their door. Â and sure enough "whoosh!" comes the door... just oblivious to the surroundings... or is it a lack of courtesy?
either way... the walk way's small!!! don't stand there you big ogre!
the back area, which was added on a couple of years ago, is pretty cool and a good place watch sports. we've watched some ncaa tourney games there, and a couple of world cup games 2 years ago, and there are a couple of big tv's, and then smaller ones in the corners, but still pretty big. Â i enjoy watching games back there.
the service is kind of, meh. Â i've never been enamored by it... the waitresses sometimes seem like work is the last place in the world they wanna be. Â at least fake it, ya know? make me think that you want to bring me beer. Â i know that i'm here to get drunk and you're just here to bring me said beer... but i enjoy it such much more when it's served with love :)
ya, michael's kinda hit the nail on the head with this place... it seems to be the place to hang out in clawson and meet people of the opposite sex. Â my buddy went to clawson high school, and he won't go here cause every time he does, he runs into a gajillion (that's slightly more than a bazillion) people he knows.
After going to the Lotus for a year or so, I felt daring and needed a change of pace. Hide Out is just down the street from the Lotus, and always seems to be packed, so I checked it out.
I didn't realize how packed it was by just passing by. It was literally shoulder-to-shoulder. Anyone that knows me knows I absolutely hate that. Â I like a crowd, don't get me wrong, but this place on a Saturday night is just insanity.
The selection of beers was wanting. Though I could find my token beer, Labatt, they didn't have much else that I'd drink. I absolutely refuse to drink Bud, and this seems like all that anyone liked in the place.
The crowd consisted of blondes and pretty boys. I don't know how else to explain it. It was.... not exactly Wild Woody's, but not too far off from it either. I felt a bit uncomfortable based on the fact that it was leaning toward "meat market," and I'm definitely not into that.
Honestly I can't think of a single great thing about the place, but I can't knock it either. Beers are cheap. Okay there's one thing good I can say about it.
If you want a bar in Clawson that you can smoke in, this would be one of them. However, I'd suggest Tavern on Main over this place - they have great food and killer beer specials that are the best in town.
