I was impressed with the IPA I had and the interior of this place. It is very nice inside of this old building. I was part of a large party and decided to keep it simple with the pork schnitzel sandwich and sweet potato fries. Both items were excellent. In fact, Our large party of 15 or so all seemed to enjoy their food.
They do have a growler beer deal, but they were out of glasses during our visit. Ask before you get your hopes up! : )
This place has so much potential, but at last it fails in everyway:
Food: Everything is fried or piled with butter. If you are healthy at all, this is not your place. There is nothing great about the food, but the price. For the cost I would expect a higher quality of food, but then when I see the chefs smoking outside....I can understand why the food quality is low.
Bar: Drinks are average, but the bartenders are not friendly at all. Most of them are rude and always focusing on something else. There are a few gems out there, but most seem to hate working there and it shows. The bar looks like a sports bar but they dont even have the NFL ticket!! I have gone in on a Sunday to watch my team and no one is in there....they are all at applebees watching the game!! What bar allows an applebees to steal the NFL scene which brings in big money and customers!!
During a Thursday NFL game that was playing, the bar was also doing Karokee....OMG was that a non enjoyment to my life. Horriable singing while most of teh bar just wanted to watch the game.
Overall this is not a good bar or resturant. I would recommend Danny's by legends to have a good time to watch sports, or food. I found this gem one Sunday when Highnoon didnt have my game on....I have been hooked ever since.
Hope this helps!
I've visited this business many times over the last 10 years and it's always a solid choice if you're in the area. Â Leavenworth is hurting for decent bars...
Recently visited and had the chicken fried chicken, delicious! Â The mashed potatoes were pretty damn good too, and the price was under $10. Â
They have a large variety of beers and the bar is large enough for you and your rowdy friends. Â Karaoke is always fun and they have lots of special bar events to entertain the masses. Â
Definitely worth the trip!
With a solid selection of 6 beers (6 samplers for $7.50) with seasonal offerings such as Oktoberfest and IPA, I was happy with my lunch at High Noon. Â I got a hamburger with a side salad ($7.49). Â My friend upgraded to onion rings for ~$1 and enjoyed them as well. Â High Noon offers typical bar and grill menu options (salads ~$7, burgers/sandwiches ~$8-9, dinner entrees ~$13) with a large saloon area with pool tables. Â The beer is pretty solid but nothing too exceptional. Â I did like the floral notes of the Honey Wheat ($4/pint). Â The stout had a very strong coffee note while the Raspberry Wheat was very subtle and had no sweetness. Â I felt a bit rushed when the server asked if we wanted dessert & laid down the check before we were even half way through our meal, but other than that, service was fine.
Review Source:I've been here half a dozen times for lunch, dinner, and for the 1st time last night, for the bar.
Lunch: Decent enough food. Â Better than fast food but nothing healthy by any stretch of the imagination. Â Prices for the local demographic are kind of high. Â Expect to pay $20 for an entree, drink and tip.
Dinner: Pretty much the same experience as lunch, with slightly higher prices.
Bar: Divey... but I think that's the point. Â High Noon comes across as a mix of TGIF with a bar and a dance "floor." Â There are some historical aspects of which I think they could make better use.
There aren't many choices in Leavenworth. Â If you're in the area and can't get transportation to KC (or don't want to drive the 45 minutes) and you're desperate for a night scene, give High Noon a try.
I have been to the High Noon Saloon numerous times over the course of a year. Â What really stands out on their menu are the burgers. Â The Guac Rocks Burger especially. Â It's messy, but in a good way. Â Definitely not for the prim and proper.
The salads didn't wow me for the price.  They are on the smaller side and look thrown together.  The add-ons for the salads are pretty pricy-  they probably expect you to buy the add-ons  to make the salad look pretty.  I don't know.
Decor in the main dining room is nice with booths and tables (right front door) Â There is seating in the bar (left front door) which is not as great. Bathrooms are small for a place this size. Â Staff is friendly. Â Kid friendly.
All-in-all, it's a great place to bring the family for a meal on those nights you don't feel like cooking!
The staff went above and beyond for our very large party. We arrived for a late lunch, got all of the kids and adults settled and then realized we had to be out of there in 40 minutes for a family function. We alerted our waitress, she checked with the kitchen. Orders were taken and food arrived shortly thereafter. Everything was hot, tasty and correct. We really appreciated the spectacular service and quality food we received that afternoon. Oh, and the beer is pretty great too.
Review Source:Last night (1/20/12) Â was our first night to attend the High Noon Saloon. We are here for CGSC, and they served beer at the student reception. Although we did not wait in line, we wanted to try out the Brewery. The beer was excellent, as was the service from Amanda. But when our app's came out either burnt or cold, we let her know and she was apologetic and went to the kitchen to right the wrong. When she told us she would speak to a manger (one of five) and would see what she could do... well she came back to tell us that the manager offered us a free dessert. We had only ordered beer and food. When I spoke with the manger Celina - she said - 1. That is their policy (what to only offer dessert when that is not what we are eating??) and 2. she questioned me that did our server not get the food reordered?? Amanda was quick to get the order correct, but we had to wait 20 minutes after the other patrons in our party had made it half way (or more) through their meals. When I explained to the manager Celina it was our first time to the High Noon Saloon and it would be our last -all she did was look at me and smile and say ok. What kind of customer service is that? Although I am sure many people have went there and had a good experience, ours was not. For an establishment that offers free beer at a student reception to a class of approximately 1100 students, I would have expected more people there, and the place was pretty quiet. Although Amanda was an excellent server and the re-done meal was fair - and their beers are good (because even though Celina was less than accommodating) I still bought my husband a growler filled with his favorite beer that he had that night, we will not return due to the way we were treated by a Celina. I clearly told her we were not looking for anything exceptional but to only be offered desert, she told me quiet simply it is the policy that they offer dessert as a compensation. What if I was a diabetic or had other food restrictions? What then? I cannot imagine it is the policy of any establishment to only offer dessert when a patron gets cold or burnt foot.
Review Source:Decided to hit a new brewery on the way home from the Renaissance Festival instead of eating at the fair. Â Bad choice. Â
The service was good - the restaurant had get decorations and was comfortable... but the rest of the experience was lacking.
My husband and I both had two sample (5oz) beers. Â The wheat and the ale. Â We both drank the wheat and it was ok but the ale was left on the table and my hubby ordered a Bud. Â
I ordered a pulled pork sandwich that was steamed in their beer - I didnt enjoy the sandwich at all. Â It was dry and not very flavorful. Â The sweet potato fries were average. Â
I was very disappointed.
I am giving High Noon 3 stars based on the service I received. Â If it wasn't for the good service it would be a 2.
The Groupon included their sampler of beer which we ordered. Â I am a huge porter and stout fan. Â But, the Stampede Stout was hands down the worst stout I have had. Â All I could taste was a burned coffee flavor. Â I thought the taste might tone down with food. Â Nope. Â It was my least favorite out of the sampler. Â I usually don't like honey wheat or wheat beers. Â But oddly enough I liked their Tonganoxie Honey Wheat.
We had the fried pickles to start. Â They weren't the best I have had but they were a solid starter. Â As for my lunch, it was fine. Â I had the Reuben with onion rings. Â It was prepared the way I ordered, no cheese with extra kraut. Â Other than that, it and the rings weren't memorable. Â The batter on the rings wasn't crunchy and was too sweet.
The restaurant area was understaffed. Â Our server was giving us the best service she could along with 7 other tables. Â She was the highlight of our lunch.
I will go back the next time I'm in town to give the food and beer another try.
This establishment use to be our favorite local restaurant but change hasn't made it better. You now pay more for smaller size servings. There is a lack of consistency in food composition and quality. Given better choices in the area management needs to decide what works and what should be left unchanged. If you want a good micro beer this is the place but if food is your main interest there are better restaurants in the area.
Review Source:I am a very picky beer drinker. I LOVE the beer at the Highnoon! The Stampede Stout is the BEST beer I have ever had. I also really like the Lewis and Clark lager and Raspberry Wheat. I live in Colorado (Home of many microbreweries), but the Highnoon is better than ALL of them!
Foodwise...I love their fried mushroom appetizer (so juicy!!) The Zorba the Greek salad with Shrimp is excellent! My husband loved every side! Fries, mashed potates, green beans. He also had the best chicken fried steak ever!
This is such a great place for being in the small town of Leavenworth! I can't believe how great it is!! We will definitely go back the next time we travel through Kansas!!
I have been to the High Noon Saloon three times over the last 9 years...first when I was at Fort Leavenworth in 1999, again in 2007 when passing through, and then most recently in November, once I moved here. Â Every time, I've had a good meal.
Since my prior two meals were a long time ago, I'll focus on the most recent one though.
Having just returned from Iraq, the High Noon was my first microbrew beer since I had returned, and it was quite good. Â I like the flavor of microbrews generally, and the High Noon is no exception.
The establishment is a pretty large place - has a couple of seating areas, the bar area, and I imagine it can get pretty packed on a weekend night, particularly if they have live entertainment.
I got a burger - pretty standard, but it was also pretty good. Â I really enjoyed it. Â I think I will try a full entree next time I go - perhaps a steak. Â Prices for beer and food were about what I'd expect. Â Not unreasonable at all.
Since there are not an abundance of restaurants in the area, the High Noon is one worth checking out.
