What a bad experience.
Took my grandparents here and was immediately disgusted by the tile floor being slippery and dirty (like a public toilet floor). Â You might want to mop that up more than once a day. Â The Host (you will not be named), looks like he hates his job, couldn't smile, didn't say hello back, and just stands there doing nothing. Â
We sat down and the waitress was very friendly. Â Although we asked for Tobasco for our tomato juice and never got it. Â (My grandfather got one off a dirty table anyway). Â I got half of my meal before anyone else did (kind of odd)... and felt rude eating in front of everyone. Â then we waited.... and waited... and waited... Â over 30 minutes. Â Watching people who came in long after use leave with their leftovers already...
here it comes...
Huevos rancheros looked worse than a lean cuisine. Â The whole plate was flat like it had just be microwaved. Â The tortilla was under the half a can of sauce, and was complete mush by the time my grandfather received it. Â I ordered a chicken salad sandwich and after one small bite i spit it out... it was a giant rubbery piece of cartilage and the entire salad was CONTAMINATED with salt. Â There's seasoning with salt, and then there's trying to really make someone sick with salt. Â It was more salty than drinking a mouthful of long beach ocean water. Â and probably just as toxic. Â Nobody bothered to taste this in the kitchen?!?! Â by the time the waitress came to check on us, my grandparents were already done with their meal. Â I sent my sandwich back (i have probably complained less than a handful of times in my life, and i'm a server, i know how annoying it is when people do this) Â but seriously, it was that disgusting.
After waiting another longggggg time for a turkey sandwich, we were already waiting for the check. Â We were here already over an hour... long enough to watch the very sweating cook.... maybe that's why my salad was so salty!?!? Â TASTE BEFORE YOU SERVE!!!! sweet waitress... wish she had a better restaurant to work for.
Hof's Hut, 4251 Long Beach Blvd, Long Beach, CA
This bistro has gone thru some changes over the years. Â Years ago, there was a wait timem to get a table. Â This restaurant chain has a handful of locations, located in Long Beach and Orange County. Â They will prepare items as you like, and they will prepare things that are not on the menu if they have the ingredients. Â They will swap out side dishes and exchange parmesean toast , for muffins, dinner rolls, corn bread, etc, with no extra charge. Â They are friendly and clean.
My only complaint, is they used to have more unique salads which included grilled fish, and other bistro style items. Â They have delicious pies, and great pumpkin brown sugar and spiced muffins during Thanksgiving and Christmas season. Â Two times per year they discount their pies by 50%. Â This restaurant chain is similar to Marie Callendar's but is a lot more personable and they tend to have more California Bistro style selections. Â They also have outdoor patio seating. Â Pricing is moderate to very reasonable for some items.
