Ellie's Place

I miss Ellie's Place something fierce! But as the saying goes...All good things must come to an end.  Now before you go and cry the blues along with me, they have been reborn-born". Before I unveil my review of the new place, here is a bit of history from Ellie's Place.

I was bartending nights at Ellie's and loved it, the people, bikers, friends and management were just phenomenal, making it a place to remember forever.  There was also something else to remember forever. One night while bartending, I had brought my rottweiler with me (never did that before) and I think it was about 12 AM and only me and "baseball Jimmy" were in there.

A gang banger entered the bar, demanded money...which I gave him, then he demanded more, so I directed him into the "safe",  this is where it gets good!  The "safe"; which we really didn't have, was a room where my trusty rottweiler was kicking back.

The guy opened the door, the dog rushed him and the rest is beautiful history.  My dog tore the robber up so bad, he took himself to the ER up the street, leaving a trail of blood from his wounds, including a bullet wound to the back of the head...from him! Ha ha! Yes folks, he grazed himself with a bullet from his own gun, while in  a struggle with my dog...PRICELESS!

The bar became famous, my dog became the bar's hero and I became known as, "That bartender with the dog", great memories!  Veila, the owner of Ellie's Place has waited for just the right place and just the right time to open shop once again.  

The new place is called, "Veila's Mayfair" and I must admit that as much as I hold great sentiment in my heart for Ellie's, this place is the grandad of bars!  Huge flat screen TV's on every wall, taco Wednesdays are great and it is a great place to play pool and meet people that are cool!

Bottom line, I met some of my greatest friends at Ellie's Place! A big shout out to all those people who made Ellie's a real life "Cheers".
