I've been going to Hopscotch almost every week since they opened. I love everything about this place. Great draft and bottle selection (I'm a pretentious beer snob). I've probably had a third of the items on the new menu and have loved everything, no way I could pick a favorite. I also smoke cigars so it's great having both patios cigar friendly. They do sell good cigars but I always bring my own. Last, but not least, the staff! Everyone is always friendly, pleasant and helpful....of course half of them know me by name now. On slow afternoons/nights Chef Cody comes out to ask how the food is. As far as beer and whiskey go, James is the most knowledgable bar manager I've ever spoken with.
It does get really busy on weekend nights, if you want the best service and prices go during happy hour on a weekday. They have a few TVs for sports fans but if you insist on yelling at the TV and drinking cheap beer and Jägerbombs, please stay away.

Had lunch here for the first time since the place opened up about 9 moths ago. The portobello mushroom sandwich was excellent as was the summer salad with goat cheese. The ingredients used were excellent for both dishes. Waitress was prompt and food came out in timely fashion. This establishment does change their menu often, so for those accustomed to ordering the same with each visit this might not be for them. Will visit again to try different dishes.

have been there twice first time food was great and service ok but second time we walk in and there was only a few people with about 5 table out side open we ask for a table out side, they said give us 5 minute to get it ready. AFTER 35 MINUTES I ASK WHATS THE DELAY, hosts said sorry but all table are reserved, I ask why did you not tell me this before, also 4 other people WAITING walk out for the same reason I was real mad but I ask for one of the empty tables inside she look at me and said they are reserved. I said thanks will never be back. I give them 2 months and they will be out of business to bad great food. bigggolf@gmail.com

I loved this place! Definitely one of my top places to go in Fullerton. GREAT beer and cocktail selection. Awesome atmosphere! Lots of young folk. Also, great food with a lot of barbecue options.

Been here twice and both times where disappointing.

PROS: nice theme, ambiance, bartenders are very friendly, larger selection of whiskeys than most.

CONS: Terribly made cocktails, poor quality alcohol used, cocktail ingredients used are poor tasting. The house made ingredients terrible tasting. Price was another issue i ordered 1 cocktail 1 regular beer and 1 mini beer cup that they serve and cost was $30.00 more than what Branagans, Slidebar, Backalley etc.. charges definitely not worth it.

IE.

I ordered a bloodymary not much you can screw up, well this place did. They used cheap no name vodka, strange tomato mix, then used other ingredients that made it to salty and smokey flavored to drink and i am a firm believer in not wasting alcohol.

a shame i gave this place two chances and they Screwed them both, not going back again.

Bartenders need to go back to bartending school and learn to make better drinks.

New place, pretentious scene. I live down the street from DTF and always get excited whenever there's new establishment. So on one saturday a friend suggested we go to DTF new bar, Hopscotch. I'm like what?! New bar? I'm there.

First of all, we got there and there's a line. So I thought alright! This should be good cuz there's a line! We waited for about 5 minutes cuz the line is going by quick! Finally we entered the place and it's half empty?!? What the hell was the purpose of the line? We could've just walked in. Lame.

Secondly, the bartender is rude! I'm not going to lie, my friends and I are borderline Alche and we're been drinking after dinner. So i decided to buy a round for everyone and ordered 7 beers, 7 shots and chaser. Since they have a full list of beers so I asked for a suggestion. She didn't ask me what kind of beer I'm looking for.. She said "house beer." Terrible service. Now that I think about it...I want my tip back!

Anyways, I'll keep trying the new joint in DTF but I won't drop my beer $$ here again

Service - Friendly, but painfully slow.

Reservations - Be sure to make some!

Food - Well executed and seasoned.
1. Sweet Potato Fritters - Spicy but really good! I enjoy spicy food but the first bite caught me by surprise and I ended up choking and tearing up. Crispy fritters filled with mashed sweet potatoes and from what I heard, spicy jack cheese and cayenne peppers.
2. Blue Crab Tots - Fried "tator tots" filled with crab and risotto. A bit bland, but overall still pretty good.
3. Scallop Special - Medium rare cooked scallops with citrus. Refreshing but overpriced.
4. Blue Roan Burger- Perfectly cooked medium. Tender, really juicy and perfectly seasoned!

Where do I start...?? I've lived in Fullerton for over 15 years now and I've been to every establishment in Downtown Fullerton. When a nice little Italian restaurant closed down and I heard the concept of Hopscotch coming in I was very excited. Staff is friendly and very nice, but lack direction and experience. I blame that on management. They had a couple experienced people on their staff, but they all seem to be gone now.

Well, here's why I am finally posting a review. I had gone to Hopscotch over a handful of times for lunch and the same for dinner. My fiance and I enjoyed our experience so much we brought all our DTF local friends, our LA hipster friends, our families, and everyone found something they loved about this place.

SO WHY the bad star rating...?? The service was alway questionable, but the staff tried and you gave them the benefit of the doubt. We had stopped by for lunch like we had in the past and noticed a menu change. It happens, but this one was not for the better. They took off half the menu and, get this, only have 2 salad dressings, a caesar and a special house style dressing which is very unique. Bottom line, if you don't like either dressing, order something other than a salad cause that's it. Then we came to dinner and noticed they changed the menu completely for dinner also. A very uneventful menu. I'd write a review about how the food is, but the menu selection was so bad we walked out.

I'm so sad because this place was headed in the right direction for both a great food and drinks place to now nothing. WHY nothing you ask...?? Because we then were just going to have a drink and go elsewhere for dinner, BUT we then found out they changed their drink menu also. That's fine, but they also stopped carrying certain bottles of alcohol so they couldn't even make them anymore. Maybe they forgot they were in Downtown Fullerton and think there's no other bars. What made this place special is now gone. It's become another bar in Fullerton.

Thank goodness there were so many other options and we found another great restaurant in walking distance.

Took my husband here for his birthday last week. We'd been hearing about this place for quite a while and were anxious to check it out. We had sort of done a fair bit of eating before we got here, which was a mistake! I can't wait to go back on an empty stomach! The plan was to just much on a few small plates (their "social hour" menu is full of great deals and even better flavors) but we went overboard after reading the menu and just kept ordering! Our server Jill was super friendly and helpful, and made my husband feel like a king on his birthday!
Here's the thing about this place that I want to drive home afer reading some of the less-than-favorable reviews: This is NOT a dive bar. It's not even a gastropub really. Don't come here if you want bar food and a shot of Jack! This is an extremely well-thought-out menu with high end ideas and flavor combos, in a casual atmosphere. I applaud the chef for the concept, and I hope they keep running with it.
We enjoyed everything we ate and drank. The two cocktails we had were some of the best I've tasted. The food was phenomenal (again, wishing we had saved room for main dishes!) and I would order it all again.

Less than impressed! We had been going to Hopscotch as weekend regulars for brunch and thoroughly enjoyed it.... until a few weeks ago. We walk into an empty bar and were handed the new menus about 7 minutes later, at which point our jaws dropped. The menu was cut in half, nothing left of our favorites (pork belly benedict) and the prices had doubled! After waiting a significant amount of time, considering the lack of patrons, to order drinks I was ready to leave and move on to another brunch option. Long story short, they convinced me to stay and it was horrible! They cut their menu in half, along with their portions and doubled the prices... and the food now has no flavor! Don't go if you value an honest restaurant with great food because that is Hopscotch no more!

Absolutely love this place. We ordered an excellent short rib jerky for appitizer. I had a great salad made from local, seasonal ingredients. I ordered 2 cocktails, one from menu & 1 bartender's choice. They make their simple syrups by hand. No mixes here.
Cocktails were excellent. The French fries are stellar. Cooked w multi-step process of blanching prior to frying. My friend loved her meal as well. We found the ad for this place in a magazine. It is a find! We look forward to returning. Oh, and the service was excellent. The cook, the mngr, the bartender all came to our table at various times. We enjoyed the waitress. Next time I may try a cigar.

Ended up at Hopscotch last night because my friend and I decided that we didn't want to listen to anyone at Slide Bar and the smell of cigars was far too tempting and we were far too weak to pass it up.

So from a whisky and cigar standpoint: Awesome. A $6 Arturo Fuente and Elijiah Craig bourbon later, I reveled in the nice patio, the warm night, and a really comfortable place to have a good conversation for a few hours. The other nice add?Nobody complaining to you about how their mom/cousin/cat/chiropractor-is-allergic-to-or-bothered-by-smoke-so-can-you-please-go-sit-somewhere-else-it's-bothering-us-and-you're-being-judged. In OC, that's quite the rare find.

I'm surprised at all the not-so-great reviews on service; we were well-taken care of. Got drinks, cigars, a cutter, and even broke a lighter our waitress was really damn cool.

So good and worth the wait!

Their sweet potato fritters are probably my favorite thing on the menu, and the Mellow Portabello delicious and a good alternative burger for herbivores.

They have a good beer and alcohol selection, so far my favorite was the basil gimlet. It's pretty busy, if you want to sit on the patio during summer i'd recommend making a reservation because it's usually packed.

WOW! I'm not giving threes stars.. but 3 RINGS because this place is a frickin CIRCUS!!

Gumshoe servers might get your food out eventually or forget your beer order entirely. The menu changes rather often and the prices increase every time. I might not have had too much of an issue with it had the food shown any sort of consistency. I've been here dozens of times. Something changes every few weeks. The sliders I liked are gone plus the cole slaw I had ordered 10+ times never tasted the same; not once.

$14 mac-n-chee..... (up from $8) the waitress had no idea why a small bowl of cheese and pasta would cost that much and frankly, neither did I. Does anyone?

The craft beer and drink selection are what's keeping this joint open. So if you like beer, it's worth a visit. Most everything else is hit or miss. Cross your fingers.

So disappointed in this place. Concept seemed so cool...slick cocktails, pork-heavy menu, tricked out old building, patio overlooking the train depot. What went wrong? The management...

Took the lady and her mom to brunch last Saturday. Fullerton is a bit of a stretch for me as I hail from deep in South OC, but it was close to GF's mom's house so figured it was a good opportunity to try out more places in Downtown Fullerton. I had checked out the menu online, so was really looking forward to a good brunch.

Got settled in to a nice patio table, waters all the way around, a light breeze gently caressing the backs of our necks as we flip through the cocktail list and prepare to get our Saturday morning buzz on... Then love died. Abruptly and without warning.

GF ordered the pork benedict. No problem. GF's mom ordered the non-caprese omelet. Also no problem. I order the breakfast burrito and ask that instead of bacon, could they please use sausage instead.

Birds stopped singing. Cars came to a dead stop. The train's plaintiff whistle ceased to blow. The sun hid behind a lone cloud in the sky.

"Uh, I am not sure I can do that, my man." Our waiter with well-coiffed hair and dramatic part so formal we could see the white of his scalp. "The kitchen is kinda real strict about no substitutions." Really? I responded. It's still a pork product, just sausage instead of bacon. "Nah, they don't do changes," he counters. Would you check please? I can't believe they wouldn't change up sausage for bacon in a breakfast burrito.

Waiter dutifully goes to the kitchen, comes back, tells me "Nope. Sorry." I tell him how lame this is...he agrees, but says they're real particular about serving the food their way. I remind him it's a f*#%ing breakfast burrito, for god's sake, not a work of art... Thankfully, my smart GF sees I am fighting a losing battle (in front of her mom, no less) and jumps in. She asks "could he just have the burrito with no bacon and order a side of sausage?" Genius! Waiter decides that doesn't count as a substitution and charges me the extra pork for the side of pork. Crazy. Had to knock back three mimosas (which were fortunately only $3 a pop) just to get my weekend chill back.

Food was decent, but hard to make a comeback from such a poor display of customer service. I am happy to drive fairly long distances and pay fairly ridiculous amounts of money for great dining experiences. I understand some chefs may want to preserve the integrity of their creations (as in, don't order the scallops and sea urchin risotto, hold the sea urchin), but this was ridiculous.

Too many other restaurants actually want me to be happy, to enjoy their food, be attended to with great service, and come back time and time again to spend more money. Hopscotch missed the opportunity here...all over a frigging breakfast burrito.

It could be a cool place. Cocktails and snacks looked good. You'll probably have a good time here. Just know the management is there for their own experience, clearly not yours. Treat it as such and you'll be fine.

It's a shame, really. My friends and I have been going to this place for the better part of a year and it really is great. However, there's been some change in management and last time we went, the menu was completely different and missing MANY if not all of our favorite dishes. At one point we were talking to one of the head guys there and asked about the sloppy joe and mac and cheese on top sandwich... and his response was "didn't we all eat enough of that in elementary school?" Nope. I want to spend my money on the fantastic whiskey choices they had (many were missing - AND the prices had gone up), and not on a $30 entree.

Good thing there's plenty of other joints downtown.

Restaurant menu used to be freaking awesome - pulled pork sliders and truffle fries used to be on the menu. No longer. Now the menu changed completely and is way more expensive and lost their coolness with beer selection. Hopscotch lost their step for sure. Need to go back to what made this place good - good bar food and better beer selection.

Pretty good spot, large selection of alcohol. Went on a Thursday night and they had a DJ setup outside. I will say watch out for the SPIDERS on the patio deck! I was sitting outside on the outer edges when I look downed and there was a few uninvited guests at my table hahaha.

I am disappointed I am giving Hopscotch a bad review because I really wanted to like this place and have it be my new go to bar. unfortunately their customer service is so putrid I just can't see myself returning soon.

I will start with the good.
- They have an awesome selection of craft beer on tap. Apparently their selection of beers is always changing. You cant find something like that in DTF.
-The atmosphere is really cool! It is a tiny place, so it can get crowded especially the patio.

The bad
- Long story short, i was charged twice. This seems like it would be an easy mistake to fix, but i have been dealing with their customer service all week to get it corrected. When i contacted them on Monday (6/17) they informed me it may be a hold on my credit card, because 99% of the time that's what happens and should drop off within 3-5 days. I found that strange because usually holds are pending and not posted, but both charges had been posted to my account. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and waited.....and waited.

Which brings me to today (6/20), I called in the morning and asked to speak with a manager, the lady on the other end of my call informed me he was giving interviews and should be done by 4 at the latest. I call back around 4:10 and I am put on hold, for over 15 minutes! I hang up and at this point I am getting frustrated. I decide to head down and talk to Tom (the manager) face to face.

Tom again points out that it is probably a hold on my account, yadda yadda yadda. I explain the issue a bit more and he asks me to wait for about 10-15 minutes while he finishes something up. Time goes by and I notice Tom talking to pretty much everyone but me. After 30 minutes I leave. I didn't need anymore of my time wasted.

Please, hire more managers or schedule multiple at a time. Maybe have a seminar on multitasking.

OK. I get it. Craft beers, artisanal cocktails, cee-gars on the patio. Plenty of handlebar mustaches and hot chicks with lots of tatoos. It's "pork belly" not "bacon" and instead of 'chicken and dumplings' it's 'duck leg confit and dumplings'. Why? Because Hopscotch is a hipster's paradise. It kind of reminds me of the place in the Fog and Smog Mixologist video - http://www.youtube.com/w….

The restaurant space is lots of fun in a deer-head-on-the-wall kind of way. This is not an intimate space, but it's got a great bar vibe. I find the food to be a bit too precious. You're generally better off sticking with the burgers. I've always found the service to be good and the food is cooked to order and very fresh, so don't whine if it takes a little longer to get to you. What do you care anyway? It's going to take you awhile to decide if you want the single malt highlands or the single malt lowlands. You hipster, you.

This place is excellent. The more time goes on the more frequently I find myself at Hopscotch, particularly as a post-work winding down place; it's become my new local.

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and can craft a darn good cocktail. As for the whiskey selection? It fills the wall behind the bar. There's nothing in this world a Templeton Rye (neat, you heathens) can't fix.

I've never eaten anything I haven't enjoyed there. I can't get enough of the brisket tacos lately, and tend to order them the second I belly up to the bar. And any day they have Duchesse de Bourgogne Flanders Red on tap is a day I feel like doing cartwheels.

I don't know why the universe took this long to provide me with a place that specializes in meat, whiskey and beer.

Oh, and one time we stopped in for brunch on a Sunday. Eggs benedict topped with pulled pork? Yes, please. Both my vegetarian girlfriend and I decreed: freaking delicious.

I realllllly wanted to like this place. It looks cute, the menu is great. BUT
Came here with a couple people on a Thursday night. There were about 4 servers on, and it took forever to get a menu. The service was slow, and when the food came out it was just average. I've had much better bbq. I might try it again, but as of now I wouldn't really recommend it.

First visit 3 stars and my second visit 4!

First time I came I had a great time with my Sista Gigi and other yelpers, especially Juan and his girlfriend. But they get a 3 stars for the lack of seasoning in their food and weak drinks( 1st visit). Don't get me wrong, drinks are tasty as hell, especially the ones with egg whites. But they didn't make me tipsy not one bit. I'd need a pitcher of drank to get buzzed! Service was very good at first and then became spotty Blah. The food came out hot and fresh but bland :( Maybe it was an off night. I'd try the food again. I also thought the tab was HIGH! Like 400 dollars high on a damn Tuesday!

I do love the patio and the fact that I can get my MAAAAAAAAAAAAADDDDDD cigar smoke on. They also sell cigars. The second time I came here, was with a date and we made everyone jealous with his private stash. The bartender in the outside bar was very good and was a cigar aficionado so she hooked it up with the drinks and I had a nice buzzzzzzzzzzz from her pours and cigar smoking. I was feeling real good . Also I loved the Dj that evening. He played ALL TYPES of shit80s,Rap,Metal,Rock,R&B,60s all over the place and something for everyone! I know my date(now axed LOL) and I were making everyone sick with the tons of making out we did at the bar, but hey I was feeling gooooooood! So my second visit on a Saturday was a solid 4!

I'll try the food again.......

5 stars atmosphere (old train depot)
5 stars quality of food
5 stars friendly servers

BUT, if you asked me to describe Hopscotch in one word I would say SALTY.
Just a warning the calms and fries were sooooo salty. Maybe you can ask for them lightly salted. Their seasoning is GREAT, just WAY too much. Oh and the burger was served raw.

Cool place. Nice to experience it ....once : )

Hopscotch is a great place. I've visited on a number of occasions, and have always been pleased with the food, drinks, service and ambiance. We often use it as our meeting place, gathering there for the "Blue-Collar Special" before heading out to other places in DTF. That special includes a craft beer, a shot of whiskey and a cigar, all for $15. An amazing deal.

There is a very nice selection of craft beers, both on tap and in bottles, and no price-gouging. With the popularity of craft beer, some places are starting to treat it like fine wine, with prices to match. Over at the Pint House, for example, an 11.2 ounce bottle of Delirium Tremens is $12.50. I like the Pint House, and Delirium Tremens is a great beer, but that price is about a 250% mark-up. At Hopscotch, a number of 22 ounce bottles of great craft beer sell for $10 or less. Both the beer and whiskey selections need some work (no Blue Label on the blended list?), but it is a very good foundation to build on. The mixed drinks are also very creative and impressive, and all are $10.

The decor seems perfect for the nature of the place, with a bar made of whiskey barrels, dark woods throughout and beer and whiskey related quotes printed on the walls. The layout consists of the primary bar area, a separate room of about the same size with a number of booths, a large patio area and a smaller patio area. Even when I have visited and found the bar area and patio were packed, there were still a number of available tables in the separate room. You'll probably have a good shot finding a place to sit unless you visit at the busiest times.

I didn't get a chance to try the food, but the cocktail I had was good. A little strong, but tasty nonetheless. Our waitress was great, she was really friendly and very accommodating to our ever-growing group. She spent a long time going through the menu, but wasn't pushy at all.

The outdoor area was huge, there were a bunch of people there with room leftover! It's a great place to kick back and have a drink. I'm not much of a beer drinker, but my friends sampled several beers and were satisfied with the selection. I can't wait to come back for dinner!

If you are a whiskey fan, you should definitely check out Hopscotch. They have a wide selection of different types of whiskey from all around the world! I was pretty stoked about it. Also, they have crafted beer.

The location itself is pretty modern and yet classy at the same time. The interior is filled with hardwood and dim lighting. It made you feel like a man's man when you walk in.

Overall, the staff is wonderful - great service! Also the bartenders know exactly what to recommend.

If you get the chance you should definitely try a glass of Strathisla (12 year).

Overall, great location, great design, great food, great drinks, and good times!

The day started out bad! Late to work and I had to leave early to meet the cable guy. Dang it my cable was broke!

OK so I got my chalk out early and had a couple of brews while my cable guy was fixin' my junk. I crossed my fingers he wouldn't take long because I wanted to go play Hopscotch with some friends.

Yes! Larry delivered and I was able to make it up to DTF for a little fun at Hopscotch. Some of my pals new and old were there and had already started drawing the game out on the table. I'd never played hopscotch like this before. It was new and fun. With over a million kinds of whiskey, scotch, single and multi malts available I was unable to decide. http://www.yelp.com/biz_… I grazed over the menu of boozes and food and decided to go with the dealers choice for my drinks.

No worries Hopscotch got ya covered. They brought me several tasty concoctions and shots and all hit the mark! Wish I could remember the names or for that matter the bartenders name but lets say he got the job done! And our servers were quick and efficient and made sure my lips were never dry! http://www.yelp.com/biz_…

Not that impressed, unfortunately. Right off the bat, let me say that our large order was to-go so maybe in house dining will make a difference. But since we only experienced the food, I'm basing my rating on that. Here's what we got and what we thought:

1. Butter thyme meatballs: couldn't taste the butter or the thyme, but the meatballs were ok. Nice and light. Good size.

2. Pulled pork sliders: the best of what we got, IMHO, but still nothing special.

3. Mac n cheese: passable, but the noodles were overcooked. I'm sure it's better in house.

4. Brisket: flavorful, but half the order was inedible fat. Not delicious.

5 coleslaw: nothing special there

5. Steak fries: overcooked

6. Lemon ricotta fritters: overcooked and did not come with lemon custard as it states on the menu

7: Butterscotch cake: it was so hard, we couldn't eat it.

The only reason this place didn't get one star from me is because they had the food ready when I got there and the gal who took my order was cheerful and thorough. Disappointed. Will not go back.

I'm in love.

Rugged, hip, with just a touch of sophistication.. Hopscotch is right up my alley.

They offer a wide variety of craft beers which I'm sadly staying away from at the moment (summer bod in progress) and an impressive selection of scotch and whiskey of course. The original moonshine whiskey is a great introduction to vodka drinkers like yours truly. The food menu is just as impressive, serving both traditional and non traditional American grub. The fried clams and brisket sliders are just some of the favorites.

And if you're feeling a little spiffy and have JT's Suit & Tie playing in your head, have a cigar at their designated cigar patio. Did I mention this spot draws in an older crowd from your DTF regulars? No complaints here.

I understand why this place gets a mix bag of reviews.

Great set up, extensive offerings of whiskey and beers and a good selection of food.

We had reservations and wasn't too happy that we where seated at one of the table tops in the bar. Was expecting to get seated in the main dinning area.

The potato soup was the highlight of the dinning experience. I ordered the blue roan burger and my wife got the cheddar bob burger. Her burger was way undercook, it was a bloody mess. The waitress never bothered to ask us how we wanted our burgers cooked so I guess she assumed we wanted it them raw. Once they got there, they were ok. The fries were ok, nothing really to rave about. We ordered the ricotta fritters with the lemon curd for desert and they were more like ricotta cinnamon donut holes. When you think of a fritter you think of something flat and round, not a donut hole. Though the cinnamon crust on the fritter meshed really well with the lemon curd though.

I ordered a beer and one of there whisky's. The beer was good, it reminded me of Purple Haze. I ordered a Old Grand Dad whisky and the fly in the cup came for free!!!!! The drinks were a little pricey for my taste. Basil Hayden whisky was around $9 here and I have had it for less then that in more upscale dinning establishments.

Would I recommend this place for the food, probably not. I would give this place another shot to go hang out and have a drink. They did have some nice music playing throughout our time there. We left right after the DJ arrived and the few songs we did hear where good. Nothing really like you would hear on the main drag in DTF.

Here's what I thought of this gastropub in DTF:

AUSCHENTOSHAN.

It's an inside joke between my co-worker and myself. It's a name of a single-malt scotch recommended to us by the waiter after he pondered for 3 minutes over what to recommend.

Here's what "Auschentoshan" means for us now: classy, smooth, leaves a good feeling.

Hopscotch has plenty of brews offered by bottle, and some worthy ones on tap. They also offer a bunch of scotch, and as I mentioned, it is almost overwhelming for waiters to suggest something especially since great ones are about $18 for a 2 oz pour. I'm glad I helped him get to the gist and said, "Oh, and I could only afford about $8-10."

The appetizers we had were good enough. I ordered the Wings spicy sauce and found them to be larger than other wings I have. Forget the baby wings you get at Buffalo Wild Wings...Hopscotch hooks you up!

I appreciate that they also offer two types of cigars: a regular for $6 and a premium for $12. Even one time the shift manager had to send us to the liquor store across the street since they sold out, but I appreciated that Hopscotch allowed us to smoke another store's cigars and also provided us cigar cutters and wood matches. If you smoke cigars, you probably know that you should light them with wood matches.

Looks like Hopscotch knows what they are doing.

And yes, try the Auschentoshan classic. ;)

I heard about this place from a bartender at another Fullerton establishment months ago and made it mandatory that I eventually visit the place.

'Hopscotch' is a play on words, really. The place focuses on craft brews (hops) and whiskies (Scotch). I didn't look, but I don't think you'll find kids drawing squares on the floor and skipping over them.

This place is.. amazing. I like to think of myself as a whiskey connoisseur. But ths place made me feel as if I've never seen a good whiskey ever. If I had to compare it to anywhere else in the OC/LA area, it would be Seven Grand in downtown LA.

When I entered Hopscotch, it gave me the feeling of entering a saloon from the golden days of our embellished 19th century Cowboy-Western history. It was rustic, had attitude and was very.. what are the words I'm looking for? Cowboyish? Without being country, without being Western. It was bad-ass. There you go. You can quote me.

Their beer and whiskey menu is pretty impressive and their crafted drinks are lovingly made (Tawny, the bartender [and a DAMN FINE bartender she is!] made the case for this). Besides their awesome drink menu, they also serve food. Had the brisket sliders. So good. I'm pretty sure the rest of their menu items are tasty, too. I will make it a point to try everything on the menu.

If you've read any of my other reviews, you'll know I'm a stickler for service. The folks at Hopscotch are very attentive and make you feel welcome. They were on top of things and I was really impressed.

I normally never cross over to the east side of Harbor in downtown Fullerton, but I will make an exception for Hopscotch. This place is really great and, if you like whiskey and craft beer, you will certainly enjoy this establishment. I certainly did.

This place is awesome. Very weird since it's in DTFullerton where half the bars and places in the area are intended for the Bro and Tool variety of classless individuals. I love their whiskey and IPA selection. The female employees are some of the hottest around and I've been here about 4-5 times already and the patrons and staff are very cool people. I'm sure they wouldn't let you in if you're wearing and sleeveless tee with tribals in here, well I hope they won't, but yes, this places isn't your typical DTF Coors Light and Jager Bombs kind of place.

I was here for happy hour once and there was only one person who didn't know anything about anything regarding their selection, which I guess is expected. All your employees can't all be awesome, but since most of them are I still give this place a perfect rating. It can get crowded at times, but for the most part it's an awesome place to go with friends. And if you happen to meet somebody here, at least you'll know they have some taste. LOL

Come hungry because WOW the portions are huge! The prices are reasonable for how much food you get.

My favorite libation was the "Barrel Bar" tastes very similar to an aviation but with egg whites.

We ordered the deviled eggs, brisket and the PAC MAC Sammie. My least favorite were the deviled eggs there was nothing special to them and the yolk part was getting hard. My favorite was the PAC MAC - salty and sweet; a massive sandwich made of pulled pork top with mac and cheese. Totally recommend it with a nap after. ;)

Had an awesome, first time here!! Service, food, drinks, everything was perfect!

Party of 5, grabbed a table in the bar area. Server was prompt, friendly and even amused us by answering our silly whiskey, scotch questions. He was so cool and didn't even give us a hard time when our party grew to 7 and we asked for a larger table. They were so accommodating in moving us outside to the patio. Great job, guys! Our new server outside was super friendly and cool too. She kept checking on us and made sure the drinks kept coming, and it was packed on a Saturday night! They were also really good at always coming by and clearing the table of empty glasses and finished plates. We got top notch service here, so not sure about the bad reviews on service.

I tried a variety of drinks (can't remember all the names) but loved the whiskey sour! Plus, we got a few dealer's choice drinks so that added to us being clueless! On the beer side, the Hopscotch hef was a good, light brew too. They have 104 varieties of whiskey and 17 Scotch. Didn't ask about beer.

Now onto the food ... check out the pics!! All very yummy!!! Cracklin Rosemary bread, deviled eggs, sweet potato fritters, mac n cheese, spicy Nicholson burger and the Duke burger; liked the Nicholson better even though they were both good. Aaah, darn, I forgot to try the butterscotch cake!! Guess I'll be back again real soon!
