My only complaint about this pub is that it's small, but I don't think the size justifies the loss of a star, so five it gets!
I'm pretty fond of the atmosphere -- comfortably dark, not too rowdy, and decor much like what you might find at a pub across the pond. Because of the pub's size, I've never sat at their bar. It's been full or close to full every time I've gone in, no matter what day or time of day, and I don't like to get THAT intimate with strangers.
I've ordered their cod, which was rather filling and cooked to perfection. Their clam chowder is pretty decent too, better than what you might find at most other places.
The final, most important note, and probably my biggest motivation for writing a Yelp review: STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING. I can't emphasize enough how essential it is that you save room for dessert and order this bowl of heavenly deliciousness. I love taking my friends here solely for the purpose of popping their sticky toffee pudding cherries, and they always thank me for it afterward.
The best fish and chips I have had anywhere outside of London, hands down. they also have a good selection of beers, and they even have some British ciders which are very good. Â I also liked the fact that they employ actual British people to work there, makes it feel more authentic. Â the atmosphere is kinda dark and dingy, but I guess that's what they were going for (and hence the name).
Review Source:Olde Ship is a dark and dank pub, a place where you can barely see the person across the table...yep, just like an Old Ship. Â
However, I was actually pretty impressed with the haddock fish and chips ($16). Â It's ridiculously large (enough to feed 2 people) and fried perfectly. Â Also, the clam chowder was tasty as well. Â They have a bunch of British beers on tap such as a Banana Nut bread Hef, which I thought was pretty tasty.
Service can be a bit slow, but the waitress was really nice and even split our checks up. Â Thumbs up!
