Stopped in here friday after work to enjoy a martini and some appetizers.  On past visits they had some decent food at half price during happy hour.  We couldn't figure out what to do for dinner so a drink and a snack while we decided where to go sounded great.

They have totally changed the set up here.  There is no more table service for tables int he bar.  So you have to wave down the lone bar tender.  He still makes a fine vodka martini but when I asked for a menu he said "we don't really serve food any more, just nachos and wings one day a week.  On friday that is all we have."

So we drank our drinks and got out of there.  Not sure why they dropped the food unless, they are planning to start letting smokers in.  But I doubt I'll be back, but I'll miss there calamari served with sweet chili sauce instead of the typical marinara.  AT leas the drinks were still at happy hour prices.

So I was really torn on how to rate Horsefeathers... or as some have called it, Cougarfeathers.  Part of me wanted to give it 1 star out of principal, I mean the alcohol is a little expensive, and the atmosphere at night is a little absurd, but then again, part of me wanted to give it 5 stars because I did go there almost every friday last summer.  So I guess I should probably explain myself.  For most of the summer my friends and I had the same routine, we would grab dinner at Zak's or Pacific Rim and then head to Horsefeathers for some good old fashioned people watching.  And that is why I wanted to give it 5 stars, there really isn't a better place to people watch.  Sitting at one of the outside tables, enjoying some drinks and watching the a combination of the crowd outside of Evie's, the crowd outside of Horsefeathers, the crowd inside of Horsefeathers and the crowd constantly coming on/off the shuttle heading to the Key.  In a lot of ways it doesn't get better than that.  Now, on to the crowd, I mentioned earlier that the atmosphere was a little absurd.... so that could probably use some explaining too.  The atmosphere is a mix of fairly normal early/mid twenties, a large contingent of cougars, usually far too many guys in Affliction t-shirts, a random smattering of the thirty-somethings, some forty-somethings and a decent number of tourists (during season).  There really isn't much else to say...... I say go, its usually pretty fun.

Good beer on tap. Plenty of different seating configurations. Great for sports games, then after the game is over, turns into a dance club. If that's not your speed, the other side of the bar is plenty quiet to get more personal.
