I first got introduced to hotcakes by smell while commuting to work on my bike. Â Our group would ride by and catch the smells as we passed by. Â We always talked about stopping on our way but it never happened. Â Finally made it there and glad I did. Â They have a great variety, skillets, eggs, cakes, crepes, french toast etc etc. Â I have tried and enjoyed most of it. Â I have been on a healty kick for a while and I find I can still eat there and enjoy it. Â These days I am ordering oatmeal with raisins and either scrambled or hard boiled eggs and they taste good. Â I have found the service very good, I don't think I've been lucky since I have been there a number of times. Â It can be extremely busy there and you can tell the staff is working hard. Â The ambiance is loud.
Review Source:We live very close and decided to try this place this morning. The food was good but the employees and the service are terrible! They argued and cursed at each other the whole time and at one point we thought it would get physical, it did not...thank God. We had to ask for silverware after our food arrived and also after asking for a refill of coffee the waitress forgot and we had to ask a third time. When we received our bill the waitress commented on how we were quite customers and THANKED us for being that way. O_o
Again, the food was decent but we eat at a lot of restaurants and it would take more than decent food for us to go back to the Hotcakes Emporium.
