One of the reviews before me is exactly right. Â "Good food / dining experience" is not what comes to mind when a buddy tossed out the idea of "Houlihans" for dinner. Â This place is great. Â This pizza appetizers are excellent, food and drink all good, plenty of space, friendly service, it all exceeded my (low) expectations. Â Houlihans has moved up in the world...at least this one has.
Review Source:WTF Houlihan's ... seriously WTF. Â EVERY TIME I ORDER TAKE OUT YOU SCREW IT UP!! Â How do you not know your own menu? Â Especially when I'm just ordering one of your salads. Â All you need to do is place the correct ingredients in a box. Â I can train a monkey to do that, and the monkey would probably be cleaner than you.
Review Source:Houlihan's... you know your typical chain style restaurant. Not too bad. My friends and I split a bunch of appetizers. (Calamari, cheese fries, chicken fingers. Healthy right?) Overall, it was okay. I also got a Raspberry Lemonade mixed drink with rum. It wasn't strong at all and seemed watered down. This was only my first experience here so maybe I will give another update if I visit again
Review Source:When I think of Houlihans I think crappy chain restaurant.
We tried this the past few weekends and were thoroughly surprised. Food was great, service was good to.
The wait is generally faster then they say it is, we have never had to wait the normal Saturday night 45 minutes for a table.
This is definately going to be a new regular spot for us.
Amanda was our assigned server. Let me tell you what a joy it was to have her serving our meal! My husband and 16 month old daughter absolutely enjoyed her assistance when selecting our entrees. This is our first time visiting your restaurant. After such a positive experience we are more than sure we'll be back. Amanda was very thorough with our order ensuring my husband's allergy was well documented with the kitchen and she routinely stopped by our table to make sure everything was okay and our drinks topped off. I'd say food was delicious but I want to make this comment about her service which was five stars. Please thank her on our behalf and tell her management team what an asset she is to your establishment. My husband and I would tell you we are so picky about service and let it be documented that this review was made while we are seated inside the restaurant! Thank you so much for your incredible food, rad atmosphere but more important, for having Amanda. She truly made the difference.
Review Source:My family and I have come here a few times and I have been very impressed with this restaurant. Especially for a chain restaurant. I have the Tuscan lemon chicken and its amazing. Â The drink menu is large which is always good and the small plates are amazing a well. I will be returning.
Review Source:Our server Lauren was wonderful!!
We had the scallop small plate as an appetizer and it was sooo good. My boyfriend got the pot roast which has amazing flavor, I kept stealing bites from the plate. I had the rosemary chicken which was actually really good also, a huge piece of grilled chicken with great seasoning.
One problem I have with Houlihan's is the amount of calories in ALL of their dishes, it is insane. Please get more options that are under 1000 calories, please!!
I'm shocked by the good reviews at this restaurant!
It was sad, weird and disgusting. My boyfriend and I had just driven 4 hours home from a trip and were hungry! I thought ANYTHING would satisfy me at that moment, I guess not!
Literally everything we had was terrible. The French Onion soup was basically gravy, everything else was just...terrible. The menu reads like a schizophrenic nightmare. I just can't say enough how bad the food is here. We usually try to stay away from chains, but will every now and then indulge in something to satisfy a craving. Big mistake to come to this place!!!
Went here one Friday night while in the area visiting. Â I liked the low lighting which gave the place an intimate vibe. Started with the Calamari, which was crispy and tender. Â I ordered the Filet Mignon which was pretty good. Â I'll tell you one thing, our server, I believe his name was Zack, was very good, very personable young man. Â He's another good server I've had in recent memory. Â If I dined here again I would try to request one of his tables.
Review Source:They have really good food for being a chain restaurant. Â The lettuce wraps are my favorite apps and i always enjoy the lemon chicken, french dip sandwich, or fillet Mignon. Â The servers are always nice and friendly, although sometimes they can be slow. Â
I usually go here when I'm at the stores on Rt. 110. Â Nice atmosphere.
For those who know me, know that I'm not a big fan of chain restaurants. However, I must say I'm a big fan of Houlihan's. The food is always good. They seat you quickly and the service for the most part is excellent. Once we were waiting a while for our server. Another server noticed we weren't being helped, she took us on as an extra table. She was very sweet and we gave her a nice tip. The manager came over and apologized and gave us two free entrees for our next visit. Try their Angry Orchard hard cider its excellent!
Review Source:Just a quick update: A regional manager contacted me after writing this review, asked some questions, and treated me to a follow-up dinner at Houlihan's. Awesome. I went again and all of our dinner, plus beverages, were covered. Very impressed, and the food was fabulous. Thanks again for the commendable customer service.
Review Source:A quality chain restaurant, it's a step above Applebees of TGI Friday's. This location is clean and large, so the wait usually isn't excessive. However, while the wait staff is friendly and attentive, the food often takes a while to come out. On the cheap side, it's a good choice for an inexpensive, tasty meal if you're in the area.
Review Source:A notch above the other chains.
Still not the greatest food, but good value. Â It just that the service is lacking and the ginger ale is just a coke and sprite mixture (no joke). Â The server seemed to be high have the time. Â Hey it could be worse, he could have been obnoxious.
They seem to have all the staples that the familiar TGI or Applebees have, but just a little better. Â They have these thai chicken wings that are better than your traditional buffalo wings. Â They also have a good burger selection too including my favorite the burger 72 with a fried mushroom cap.
To some up one of my briefest reviews I would say if you're considering going to a ruby tuesdays or something give this place a shot instead.
I have been going to this location for awhile now, and I find this one to be the best. I have had one problem here, as far as service went, but the manager took care of it quickly. The best thing I felt they had on the menu was the Meatloaf No.9. I say "had", was because of my last visit, while checking out the menu I noticed the meatloaf was not on there. I asked our waitress, and was upset to hear that they are going to do away with it, but they will continue to make it until they run out! Please don't do away with it! If anyone else has enjoyed it as much as I have, speak up! I mean, you would not think a chain restaurant would have great meatloaf, but oh boy! All I can say for the doubters out there is get it while you can to see what I mean.
Review Source:I gotta say, the thanksgiving dinner they served yesterday was amazing. Lots of meat and potatoes and it comes with stuffing, string beans with carrots, cranberry sauce, soda and any dessert on their menu for just $20, not bad! It actually tasted really good! The service there isn't the best in the world but it's far from the worst. Definitely worth going to holiday dinners, if your from out of town and had to work the night before, like us :)
Review Source:I'm a fan! Great food and friendly service for a large place like this. Â Have been here twice, both with great experiences.
Had the Lettuce Wraps and Grilled Rosemary Chicken, both were delicious, came quickly.
Our friendly waitress was attentive, and frequently checked up on us and made sure we always had drinks.
When coming on a Friday or Saturday, get here early, there is a wait. Â For a Friday, at 6:30 for 2 it was about 15 minutes, and it was quickly getting busy.
It has been a long time since I've eaten at Houlihan's. Â I am not a big fan of these chain type restaurants, but some are better that others and Houlihan's is one of them. Â
I had the fish tacos for lunch there, and it was very good. Â Unfortunately, the fish was fried, but I was able to have rice and beans with it, instead of fries. Â We also had Margaritas with our meal. Â If you love Margaritas, don't have one here. Â I know it's not easy to make a good one, but this one was very disappointing. Â
Definitely not a four star restaurant, but good, affordable, tasty food.
After a matinee showing of Inception at the UA theater across the street, we (party of 4) came to Houlihan's for (what was supposed to be) a light snack. We were seated right away after arriving (it was about 3pm on a Sunday afternoon). We ordered the Stuffed 'Shrooms for an appetizer (probably one of the best ones on the menu). I had the Spinach dip with cheesey lavosh (it was so cold in the restaurant that the cheese on my lavosh hardened rather quickly.. it was probably the worst I've ever had and a disappointment!). My boyfriend had the chicken fingers, half original, half thai-style. I personally liked the thai-style ones. Very flavorful, spicy, and sweet. I definitely ate more than I should have for a "light snack."
Service was decent. Nothing to call home about.
Durring the football season, you can typically find me here on Thursday nights ( they have the NFL network). Good food, friends and the NFL... oooo Heaven is a place on Earth.
When I come it usually isn't very crowded although on weekends I am sure it is. But so far  I've never needed a reservation and I am not even sure if they take them. Tthe waitresses are all very friendly and never try and chase you out. (I guesss b/c it isn't busy... I wouldn't push my luck if it was).
The Chicken parm hero and an Arizona Iced Tea is my favorite meal here but for you health nuts they offer a soup or salad/entree combo deal which is satisfying. Everything is always great here though.
Surprisingly they offer a delicious creme brulee too.
My only gripe is the lamps/lighting. The unique design is intersting but it blocks the views of almost all the TVs no matter where you are seated.
Food was really good. I had a straight up burger on whole wheat (love that option!) and cheese fries for an appetizer. Everyone at the table (party of 7) thought their meal was excellent. The only disappointing thing is the Blue Whale drink no longer comes with a plastic blue whale. :(
Review Source:Houlihan's is similar to TGI Fridays and Bennigan's . Â They have good burgers, wraps and have a comfortable atmosphere.
This location is pretty convenient being next to a couple hotels, a Walmart and a Bank of America all in walking distance.
I stopped in to grab a beer and a quick lunch. Â I ordered the Gourmet Bacon Cheese Burger. Â The burger was pretty good. Â The bun was whole wheat, the bacon was crisp and the rest of the ingredients were fresh and tasty. Â The beef is Angus Beef and was flavorful and juicy. Â I am usually pretty happy with any burger I get at a place like this.
It did the job.
Food and fun at the foot of a runway.
Why the nice folks who run the Farmingdale area continue to erect structures that house a lot of people at the edges of a runway is beyond me. Â First, a movie theater, now Houlihan's and a hotel - this is just begging for a plane to fall short and take out a lot of people...
In any case, Houlihan's has been on a major building spree in the last few years and have moved ahead of the competition in terms of quality food and atmosphere. Â
This location is brand new - so new that the parking lot is still under construction. Â The place was jammed to the rafters last night and even finding a spot at the bar was a chore. Â
The servers at the bar were excellent - and we decided to stay there since the wait for a table for two would be about 30 minutes.
The food was great, the prices are reasonable and except for the wall-to-wall crowd we enjoyed a light meal and a couple of cocktails.
