Went here for dinner when we went to Hershey Park on July 18th. Really nice restaurant. We had seven in our group and were told the wait was about 30 minutes but we actually got seated in like 15 minutes, so not bad. Our waiter was nice and efficient, he just didn't intro his name so I thought that was weird. But he was good nevertheless. We had 3 burgers, a salmon burger, a kiddie mac and cheese and grilled chicken with asparagus. Overall the food was very good and service was impeccable. They give you so many fries! I love FRIES! I would recommend this place.
Review Source:This place is pretty solid, especially considering it's a chain. The food is usually good, a step above the normal chain places like Applebee's or something, and the prices reflect it. We mostly come for some of their yummy mixed drinks - they do a good job with some of them, but some of them I would pass on.
It is ALWAYS crowded because of it's location. I only go if I can get a seat right away - it's really not worth a wait.
The fries are decent - nothing special, but good. Most everything tastes fine - the sliders were flavorful, but a bit fatty. Ingredients sometimes seem frozen (corn, meat, etc.) It's a chain, again, and I'm not suggesting you expect more than that.
In the times I have been here, service has always been okay. Some better than others - it depends on your server completely. The food always comes out in good time though (usually the server does not bring it but a kitchen staff member it seems).
My suggestion is to probably search out somewhere else to eat if you are looking for super delicious food. But if you want a decent cocktail and some standard chain style American food, this is a good place for you.
This place is fancier than I had thought it was. I thought it would have been more similar to a Friday's. My first and last experience was alright. I can't complain about the service because it was great, our appetizers and dinners came out at a decent time. The waitress was friendly and constantly checked back with us. I didn't like the wine I ordered, and replaced it without any issues.
My meal wasn't satisfying which is why my ratings are low. Personally, I didn't care for the menu. It was hard to pick something, so I ordered a simple burger - which was far from delicious. The only fulfilling dish was the lettuce wraps. Even hated the stuffed mushrooms!
At any restaurant, horrible food will make my decision whether there will be a return. And for Houlihan's, it was my last. Like I said, service was great but for food choice in my preference, I wasn't satisfied with the menu options or tastes.
Every Sunday, sometimes for a random party, Houlihan's is there for the taking! I absolutely enjoy the dining experience here and how laid back it is. The atmosphere is great for big parties and get togethers. The bar area is sweet, modern and great to catch a game.
I've had nothing more than sandwiches and smaller platters. I really enjoy their pork BBQ sandwich (you won't see it on the menu but if you ask, they'll make it for you... and they'll put a few pickles on it too!) It's seriously the best I've ever had and they SHOULD add it to the menu! I know they sometimes offer it as a slider option, but when we normally go on Sunday's it's never advertised. Ah well!
Really, anything you get here is super to add to enjoying the company at your table. Desserts are yummy, especially the creme brulee. The service has always been great!!
All in all- one of the better chains in America!
Houlihan's is one of those hip chain restaurants that you just return to over and over again because it's consistently good. Â A great place to go grab food and drinks after a long day at school or to celebrate a birthday! They have a really extensive menu and the prices are pretty reasonable! Â I absolutely LOVE the spicy chicken & avocado spring rolls and the french onion soup.
FYI, it can get pretty crowded on a weekend night so get ready to wait for a table... with the crowd of youngsters, Houlihan's almost makes it feel like Hershey is a "happening'" place ;)
I hate chain restaurants, so what's with the five stars? We ended up here after a tortuous trip to Hershey. I was tired and cranky, as were the wife and three kids. We I spied this place on the way in, thinking we would rather have a colonoscopy than eat at a Houlihans. Our minds were changed when it was either stop and eat here, or push the wife and kids out of the car on the Turnpike.
The drama started when we entered the place. It was crowded. Every seat was taken, even at the bar. We were told that it would be a ten minute wait. Yeah right. I've heard that before. Let's hope that the batteries in the Leapsters last.
Um..we were seated in five minutes. No joke. Large comfortable table. Waitress went and got the kids crayons and place mats in less than a minute. Brought their drinks in record time. Then returned thirty seconds later with some carrots and dip, perfectly portioned for each child. I think I started to cry. My blood pressure went down. Her tip went up. We ordered the basics, fajitas and burgers. Everything was cooked well. This is not a five star dining establishment, but hold on a minute...They now have a small plate menu which looks fantastic. Her tip went up again.
Waitress whispered to my wife that the kids get desert, we declined. Tip went up further. She brought out the check thirty seconds later, no pressure to pay, but she somehow knew it was time for us to be moving on. Maybe it was the kid under the table.
Great service! Great Food! Great with the Kids! A++++++++++++++++++++
My girlfriend and I were looking for a place to stop for a quick lunch when in Hershey. Honestly, we weren't looking for anything fancy, so we stopped at Houlihan's, hoping we could get something halfway decent. We didn't know what a treat we were in for. Honestly, we had two of the best lunch salads that either of us had ever had. The mix of vibrant flavors and fresh ingredients made them both very delicious. Our waitress was friendly, outgoing, and prompt. I wish I could remember her name so that I could give her the acknowledgment she deserves. I would definitely stop by again, and I would recommend it to anyone in the area.
Review Source:WOW! Just moved to the area and this is one of my favorite places to take people. You WILL NOT have a bad experience. Suggestions: FAJITAS, Atlantic Salmon, Asian Chop Chop Salad, Stuffed Chicken Breast (Cordon Blue type dish), any side dish, Farm House Club, FISH TACOS, and anything else on the menu. This particular location is owned by Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Company (HERCO) and you can tell by the standards and cleanliness of the restaurant. Great service, definitely affordable prices, and a great atmosphere for lunch, dinner, or any happy hour.
Review Source:Hold up. Houlihan's has lettuce wraps? Yep, and they're not too shabby compared to a certain Asian chain restaurant's version I eat occasionally. They're not quite as good or as substantial, but still made for a tasty appetizer.
For lunch, something a little different: The Spicy Fritos Burger with pepper jack cheese, pico de gallo, Fritos corn chips, jalapenos, guacamole, chipotle mayo. It obviously had a little kick to it, which I really liked. Opted out of the typical side of fries for chips and salsa.
Enjoyed the entire meal while sitting at a table on the outside patio in warm afternoon sun. Â A very pleasing way to end my trip to Chocolate Town, USA.
What will you find at Houlihan's? Very good food, fair prices, awesome happy hour, and a clean environment.
Our first trip in was after a late night preview of Hershey Park. My cousin & I split a pot roast dinner - tender and flavor. But there's one thing I don't understand about the how they use lettuce. Our chop salad came with shredded iceberg while my other cousin's fish tacos had whole pieces of romaine. Is this an east-coast thing? For dessert, the white  chocolate banana cream pie and crème brulee were quite delicious.
Thunderstorms at Hershey forced us out of the park for a while but conveniently into Houlihan's for Happy Hour. You can't go wrong with $5 apps:
Calamari - crunchy & yummy
Spinach Artichoke Dip - a bit runny, but tasty on the flat bread
Thai Wings - when we got our 2nd plate which wasn't cold, they were good too
Chicken Nachos - my favorite
Fried Stuffed Mushrooms - could have eaten these all day
Yuengling on tap - a treat for this Californian
I'd go back to Houlihan's especially since the service is courteous and attentive. Thanks Houlihan's for being a part of our coaster road trip!
Houlihans has a great menu, basically your regular chain but a bit more upscale.
The prices range from descent to a bit pricey,, we stayed on the descent side.
I had the housemade veggie burger with aged cheddar on a pretzel roll and added pesto.
It was delicious!
I mean really damn good, along with a side of perfectly grilled asperagus which could have been more than 4 pieces though.
The man had the fritos chicken sandwich which at the same price as mine ($9) was kind of a rip off.
Side wise he had the baked potato which is by far the biggest portion you get compaired to the 5 fries or 3 pieces of broccoli I saw others get.
It was undercooked and oversalted though.
He literally had 3 fritos and one jalopeno on there along with half a slice of cheese, not really a man sized dinner.
While I would give it 5 stars for loving my meal, I have to take one off for the super skimpy kids meal and my man not loving it here.
My favorite restaurant in the area! Their drinks and food are excellent. Try the Long Island Iced Teas. The potato soup is yummy and their side salads are generous. You can get small plates or regular sized entrees. This place gets busy, especially if there is somethiing going on at the park (aka a Hershey Bears game or a concert).
Review Source:OK. Â I returned. Â And the menu impressed me; they have a great variety of stuff. Â And the food was good (meats were cooked to the correct temperature and things were flavorful). Â And the service was good. And this is a very good incarnation of the chain. Â Much better than you might expect. Â And crowded. Â Even on a Monday night. Â They are getting that fourth star.
Review Source:Delicious food, me and my girlfriend's that I went to cos school with love meeting here for dinner. I would suggest going on a week night because the weekends get crazy and they don't take reservations or call ahead seating. The service is good, and they don't try to push you out the door. The only thing that's a pain is waiting to get sat (but the food is worth it!).
Review Source:I went here for the first and last time a week before my 21st birthday a few years go. I ordered a mango daiquiri, and just expected it to come without alcohol (as I had done so many times before at other restaurants). It had alcohol in it. That's a huge mistake. I suppose most under-aged people would think this is cool. I saw it as trashy and unprofessional.
It was not busy, there were a few people at the bar for lunch. We waited FOREVER. The appetizer came out 5 minutes before the food. The waitress brought out my steak. She told me it didn't look rare to her but she wanted me to cut into it to make sure. This was about the only good thing she did for us. It was well done. She took it back. The chef actually ripped the plate out of her hand, threw it somewhere, then slammed down the new plate. It's not anyone's fault but your own that you don't know how to cook a steak, buddy. Maybe you should go punch yourself in the face. It was still well done. I ended up not paying for it.
I wrote an email to corporate. I was detailed. I gave location, time, names, price, etc. I got an automated response, and that's it. A few months later I wrote another email that was angry about not receiving a response. I got, "We did receive your inquiry and are very sorry for your experience. When were you there and at what location? How would you like to resolve your issue?" I told them to forget it.
I think they have it good because they're in a tourist town and people will continue to go here because they think it will be like other Houlihan's restaurants. I wish it was still an empty building.
I found out about this chain while staying at the Meadowlands New Jersey. I look forward to eating the Potato soup. On a snowy night this is an excellent meal to have in itself.
The place was clean and service was good. I would like to try something else on the menu but I am stuck on the soup.
This place surpasses every other restruant in Lebanon Co. and is prob. on the top in Dauphin Co.
This place has unbelievable food!  I swear I almost had everything on the menu and everything is so delish!  My girlfriends and I always meet here for our birthdays and special get togethers.  Our favorite thing to do is order multiple appetizers and share them.  The drinks they have are sooo yummy and you definitely need to try their Tennessee Tea- a spin off from Long Island Ice Tea.  Their scallop dish is the bomb, along with fish taco's which sound  grouse but are sooo good.  Fancy spagetti is yummy along with all their side salads.  Can't go wrong with the apptz... Â
Do yourself a favor and eat here!
Visited on Saturday 4/7/12 with a group of 6, around 5 PM.
This was my first visit to Houlihan's, and I came away suitably impressed. The food and drink selection is extensive, prices were reasonable, and everything we had was delicious. I like that they have tapas-style offerings, so you can easily build a meal to suit your appetite. It's also a great way to try a smaller amount of another menu item to see if you'll like it.
I was driving, so I didn't try any of their alcoholic drinks, but I've been told the martini flight is terrific. I'd like to come back and try it another time.
The only negative to our experience was our server. He seemed like he was having a bad day or something...he was very uncommunicative and acted like everything we asked for was a hassle for him. I'm sure our experience would have been different with another server, so I won't ding the place too badly for one bad egg out of the group.
always pleased with houlihans!! it's a go-to for dates, kids, work gatherings... everything. they have a scratch kitchen, so it's all made there and fresh, and delish. I've never been disappointed by their food! I love the minis they do - either drinks, apps, or desserts. here's the problem -- it gets SO full and can be really loud!!
Review Source:Don't let the concept of a chain restaurant fool you, Houlihans is great! They have a wide variety on the menu and I've never had a bad meal here. I love the happy hour specials! Their pitchers of long island iced teas are a great deal. I love the "small plates" section of the menu because you can try a little of each dish from the menu for a small price. I've ordered the mac n' cheese, arugula pizza, chicken nachos, french fries, salads and a few chicken entrees; all very tasty! In general, the entree prices are very reasonable. The service is also great! The staff is friendly and easygoing. The restaurant gets very crowded and can be pretty noisy, but that's to be expected for the volume of customers. Also, the food comes out fairly quickly, which is good if you're going there for a business lunch or after work.
Review Source:I should probably start this review by mentioning that my friend and I couldn't figure out how to get in the building at first. A waitress was nice enough to let us in the exit.
Anyway, the food is great and the service was fantastic. Couldn't ask for a better experience.
As an added bonus, while we were eating the goalie from the Hershey Bears walked in. I hear it's a pretty popular spot for the team.
Go to Houlihan's. It's not too pricey, it's a fun place to be, they play great music and it's an overall great time.
For some reason Hershey is hurting for decent restaurants. Enter Houlihans, a better than average chain. I went here with six others to celebrate a birthday. Entrees ordered were varied between a burger to salmon and everything in between. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. Desserts were tasty as well.
Ambiance was nice. Even though the place is huge the noise level was fine and we sat next to a nice fireplace.
This will be my go-to place in the area if I'm looking for something nicer than Red Robin.
Went here after a long day at Hershey Park. Rather tasty for a chain store...i consider houlihan's like an upscale Applebee's/Chili's/TGIF's. I got the fish tacos (with a side of mashed potatoes...weird combo i know) and my date got the spicy burger (with a side of fries). His fries were so good! My potatoes were pretty good, I just wish I had some gravy to go with them. My fish tacos were decent, I would probably order them again even though they lacked the "oomph!" of Jose Garce's, aka Philly's Iron Chef winner, fish tacos (i'm spoiled so I cannot hold it against Houlihan's).
I am a Coke fan, and I really dislike how this establishment is Pepsi only.
Ate here for a birthday party. Â The food was good ( I had the pesto pasta) and the atmosphere was nice. Â The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you receive. Â Only concern is the service. Our waiter was very good, but not around all that often.
Not a fan of the French fries.
Pretty decent for a restaurant chain and much better than I was expecting. I was visiting Hershey over the weekend with my boyfriend, and he liked it so much that we went twice during the three days we were in town.
The beer selection was ok. (to Houlihan's credit they do have Newcastle on tap) I never saw a menu with specialty drinks on it but there seemed to be a lot of colorful martinis and frozen drinks floating around, so I'm assuming there was a wide selection of these.
I really enjoyed the food, particularly the small plates menu. Both times we ate here here we ordered a couple of plates each from this menu and the portions were perfect (Except for the nachos! They were delicious but HUGE, even when shared between two people). The spinach salad and ginger noodles were both very good. The only thing I didn't care for was the mac & cheese (and it takes a lot to turn me off of mac & cheese). It was so rich and greasy (there was bacon in it) that I could only handle a couple of forkfuls before I gave it to the boyfriend.
We sat at the bar both times and the bartenders were very pleasant. One offered to turn a TV to the Caps game as soon as I took my coat off and he saw I was wearing a Capitals T-shirt, which I thought was very thoughtful. You have a good view of one of the four TVs from wherever you sit at the bar, so I'd imagine this would be an ideal place to watch a game. I will definitely consider making a repeat visit the next time I'm in the Hersey area.
One of the better chain restaurants out there. Â The main reason it gets four stars is for portion size. Â The small plates are good if you aren't that hungry or you want a salad and a little bit of mac n cheese. Â The menu doesn't feel too much like a chain restaurant either, like the grilled asparagus salad. Â So I ended up getting fajitas as that was more of what I was in the mood for. Â A nice dollop of sour cream with ample lettuce and cheese (some places can be stingy), a side of a smoky salsa and it was red and green bell peppers with the sauteed red onion. Â It's just the little changes that made for a different flavor profile you might get at other places. Â Our server was 2 stars but he wasn't bad enough to distract from the overall experience. Â The real test would be to go at a busier time, rather than about 7 on a Sunday night.
Review Source:We hit Houlihan's after the Sunday hockey games. Nice looking fairly large restaurant. It is a chain but  it's the best chain I've been in.  Good for families, Nice bar, Martini flights are great!
French onion soup is good
Stuffed mushrooms were good
Rosemary chicken was nice, so was the salmon
Fish tacos I really enjoyed
and I really like the scallop risotto, yum. The smore dessert is fun. Service is good and friendly staff.
I have to agree with Alison. Â I am not a chain restaurant fan (well, except maybe Morton's), but this location is nice.
Atmosphere is nice. Â Bar gets a decent crowd any day of the week. Â Get here early if you are eating dinner, or you will be waiting...
Had a flight of martinis. Â Nice. Â I've paid $7 for one martini before, so three at that price is a bonus. Â I like that they make their own lemonade, and use it in the drinks. Â owever, i wish they had more on the flight menu- I would have loved something a little less sweet...
The fish tacos here are good. Â The onion soup was delicious, and I'm very picky about onion soup. Â I had the steak and wedge salad, which was also wonderful. Â And such a pretty presentation.
The other thing I liked about this place- there were lots of kids present, but I didn't notice them. Â So either they sit them all together or the place is lively enough that I didn't notice. Â Sweet!
A great place to meet up with friends. Â The food is unique for the area, and offers a little something for everyone. Â I am a big fan of the flights of martinis that are offered, and I love the small-portioned desserts (the berry cobbler is fantastic :). Â Yes, it is a chain, but for this area, it offers a modern twist to the dining experience without the cardboard cut-out style of other chain restaurants. Â The wait to get in can be long, especially on peak nights (such as Saturday nights). Â I've always liked the service; the staff are very nice, friendly, and usually quick on orders. Â The outdoor seating is nice during the summer, although it can get a bit loud as it is right along the busy routes of 422 and 743. Â Personally, it is a favorite bachelorette party spot!
Review Source:Houlihan's is a chain, and in another location it would not deserve 4 stars, but since it is in Hershey, it is way better than the other offerings (Applebee's, etc, bleah).
Because it's one of the newest and better restaurants in the area, there is a sizable wait at peak times. This can be annoying since it's not the greatest or anything, but I'd say it's worth up to 30 min wait.
They have a lot of cute things where you can get three different miniature items for a reasonable price, like 3 mini martinis. I think this is a decent deal and I like girly drinks. They don't have a lot of vegetarian offerings. Out of 10 times I went to this place, 1 time during a busy dinner service the pasta was wayyy overcooked, like mush. But considering they have high school kids as staff I guess this is to be expected. The service is pretty much decent overall. The place tries a bit too hard to be trendy but at least they try.
I agree that the smore dessert is disappointing, it sounds so good but when you get it, the chocolate is on this weird piece of wax paper and it's very difficult to eat. Whoever designed that must have never tried to actually eat it. Â The desserts are cheap though so I usually end up getting one.
The food is definitely great but the service leaves something to be desired.
I think I've tried all the appetizers and desserts haha. Â Some of the desserts (the smore thing for one) aren't exactly what you'd expect (in a Let Down sort of way).
And the servers are pretentious as hell. Â You're 30, you're waiting tables, get over yourself.
