Hello FOOD SNOB here.
You can still get good quality Pizza in Hammond. Â Place has been here for many years. I believe its the same owners. Â This place ranks up there with Aurelios in North Hammond.
I have not tried it but a couple of Italian Immigrants I know say the Pasta with Marinara sauce is pretty good too.
My mom grew up loving House of Pizza and we still go back every now and then for family birthdays and the like. Â They specialize in that super thin, somewhat greasy, square-cut pizza found in the Chicagoland area (I've never really seen it much elsewhere). Â If that's what you're looking for, House of Pizza does it very well, nothing too extraordinary-just a solid, 3.5 star 'good'. Â My advice-order for take out and save yourself from their hit or miss service.
Review Source:Have been ordering pizza from here for 39 years. I am moved away 15 yrs ago and came back to move a relative to the West coast. I am reviewing every restaurant I dine at out here this week. Ordered baby back ribs, pizza, and a pasta dish. All food was good, including the ribs. House dressing on salad is very good. Service was poor. What a shame that  a kitchen works hard to deliver good food, and servers tarnish what could have been a great experience. If I wanted to serve myself, I would save the $$$ and eat at home. I had to ask for refill on soda. During dinner, server never came back to check on us. After dinner, had to go to the bar to have my mom's water refilled. Low and behold, I saw our server in the corner of bar area sitting down,  looking at her cell phone texting or checking her FB account. Great food, clean and comfortable place, just make sure you ask for what you need before you need it.
Review Source:Note that my rating is based purely on the quality of the pizza and the speed of delivery, and not related in any way to the quality of dine-in service. Really, unless it's a watershed "landmark" pizzeria/chain like the ones in Chicago, why would you eat inside? Pizza like that served here is meant for consumption in the comfort of one's own home with friends, a movie/video games and copious amounts of ice cold Coca-Cola (or RC). That being said, I don't give a damn if the dine-in service sucks, as I'm never going to test it.
Anyway, to the meat of this: the pizza here is pretty good. Nothing mind-blowing but certainly at the same bar as the better pizza places in the HMD (Verona's, Barton's et al). The pie is topped properly and even without getting extra cheese it comes with plenty on it. Delivery is quick enough. Overall, House of Pizza is satisfying but winds up blending in with the rest of the sea of pizza joints.
I have become a complete fan of this pizza place. Â I have never had a bad experience. Â The pizza is affordable and good quality. Â The ravioli is really good too. Â They have some fun drinks as well. Â The sangria was recommended to me by a waitress, and I love it. Â They also have a great blue hawaiian :)
Review Source:I hate that I have been pushed to give this place a 1 STAR rating.
I've eaten here several times and enjoyed eating here  for  a sit down meal for some good pizza. However, the only reason and the main reason why I will probably never return is because the last time I came to eat after waiting for several minutes which was more then 10 min our table wasn't approached at all. Other people who we're seated after us got their orders taken and this is a BIG deal to me.
Here is the killer part of this the hostess who actually sat us down as we were walking out Thanked  us for stopping by and hoped we enjoyed our meal....WTH?!?!?!?
I love this joint I always order the thin crust just because you really can't go wrong. This is one of Hammond's gems and is probably the best Indiana has to offer. I love the staff as well it's whole bunch of gossiping ol'ladies with bad hair, I love it ! Parking lot a bit small on the other hand they do serve this excellent drink called the Blue Hawaiian with 5 rums in it.  It's super fruity and does the trick, cool thing is your only allowed 2, but the ladies behind the bar let me go for 3. Yah that pretty much knocked me on my ass. It's a really laid back atmosphere and there's alot of old people that come in for drinks and to also watch the game and there bar area is small but cozy.If you happen to come across this place stop in you won't be disappointed at least by the food. The staff  well I just happen to get along with ol'ladies.
Review Source:I've lived in "the region" for 26 years and this is by far my favorite pizza in the area. Â With Zuni's in Highland, I would always purchase from there since it's closer to my house, but since that's now closed, you can still get HOP's pizza from the original location in Hammond, or at Dante's in Munster.
Review Source:We went after hearing many great reviews from others in the area. Â Â
We arrive and of course my 4 year old immediately has to pee. Â So we come out of the bathroom, turn the corner and my 4 year old runs right into a waitress (carrying nothing). Â I immediately apologize profusely and she continues to him and haw as if she had been stabbed in the face about how that scared her all while giving us the death stare. Â
So now I am turned off by the entire place. Â The food was ok, nothing really to write home about. Â Â The pizza sauce was a little on the overly peppery side. Â My husband's red bean and rice soup was very good though. Â Â Not sure if it is worth the trip.
After years of passing thru Hammond,IN I finally decided to give House of Pizza a try. I mean, it's been around for decades, and as a rule of thumb, if that's the case, they must be doing something right.
I had a large sausage, thin crust. The crust was thin and dry (in the best sense!), with no residue of flour or cornmeal on the bottom. Light and crisp. The sausage was very good. I can't quite place the spices. In a weird way I was thinking maybe they put in a little ground lamb meat or something. It wasn't spicy or anything, just really good flavor. The sauce is like a lighter version of Aurelio's. I read that someone made a comment about their sauce and liquor. I don't know about "liquor", but a good guess would be that a small amount of red wine is in there. It's a light rich sauce, if that is even conceivable. (I hate to use any form of "water" when describing this). The cheese was nice and greasy---no soy cheese here, and all of it came together to be awesome. Easily the best pizza outside of Chicago.
I had read reviews on other sites about their service and other aspects, but I had carry-out, so I can't comment. I will say that the pizza was ready on time, and hot, and the employees were nice and friendly, and even funny. Parking is TIGHT (I went during lunch).
Definitely get off the expressway (less than a mile away) and stop in. There is not disappointment in their pizza here.
Dam Good  pizza for me i like the crust thin .  I am willing to bet they do not pre cook the sausage this is why the flavor carries threw the pizza on wed. the pizza is super cheep . and they are fast . there house made dressing on the salad was great i chose the backon and cheese . blue i think . the mayo base style . cant live with out it .. We had 2 salads med 4 topping pizza  somp pop  like 22 bucks . hell that is long island's in chicago .  go for it .
