I've been coming here for 8 years and never once did I leave dissatisfied in any way shape or form.
The people are extremely kind and have always taken great care of me and my friends/family and to say this is my favorite place is an understatement.
Thank you for your consistently great food and service
This place is fantastic. Been going on a regular basis since they were in their original location. Food is always fantastic, service is usually good, but can be subpar when they are swamped. The owner is very nice and the cooks recognize us when we eat there. I've yet to find another hibachi that tastes this good!
Review Source:Been to the Japanese steakhouse once. Â I wasn't overly impressed. Â It is your typical Japanese steakhouse food, except they don't seem to do it as well as other places. Â The chef didn't seem to interested in interacting with the customers and trying to make the experience exciting, which is really why you pay 20 to 30$ for a steak dinner at one of these places. Â The waiter was ok, seemed to be on top of things. Â The best part of the meal was the house salad dressing, which is available at either Marsh or Kroger (can't remember which grocery store I saw it at). Â
Overall a major disappointment, the reason they receive the second star is for the salad dressing and the waiter.
Let me start by saying how much I truly love this place. I've been going to the House of Tokyo since it first opened a little ways from where it stands now. The owners are extremely hospitable and care immensely about the food they present to their guests.
I've tried many different Japanese Steakhouses in my travels, and I've found that there is truly no place like home. They have highly skilled chefs, and the food cannot be compared with any other Japanese Steakhouse I've visited. Most importantly, they are consistent, clean, and reasonably priced.
You get about the same menu items as most of the usual JS's, but the sauces, dressing, and soup they have here are far and above the rest. I'm constantly searching, but I can't find ANY that are better than the House of Tokyo. It's simple, and the fresh flavors can speak for themselves.
I will always look forward to going to to the House of Tokyo, and I always have. They treat you like family there, and once you experience it, you'll compare everywhere else to it.
This place was a colossal disappointment. Â I am, as a rule, a fan of anything flamboyant. Â Especially when said theatrics are entirely unnecessary. Â Therefore, I am a fan of Japanese barbeques, which are typically home to over-the-top flourishes, juggled utensils, food flicked around, and eggs opened in midair.
But not at this location.  The guy got up and cooked our food.  It was entirely pointless that we got to watch him.  I've seen people mixing ingredients before, and do not consider it high entertainment (at least not high enough to justify $15 an entrée). Â
What's more is that the food was strictly mediocre. Â Better than take-out, sure, but not by a whole lot. Â To compound this, the guy made me the wrong meal: he added teriyaki to my chicken. Â When confronted on the issue, he offered me some steak, about ten pieces, and considered us settled up. Â Plus, I never got a refill on my Diet Coke.
I hate to say it, but avoid this place. Â It's overpriced, uninteresting, the service is terrible, and the food disappointing. Â It didn't have dirt on the floors or anything though. Â That's worth something, I guess.
