  Part Beer Garden, Apartment Complex and Art Gallery located in the heart of Sand City... The Independent is all that and a lot more... I've enjoyed all kinds of beer at Post No Bills, checked out an apartment or two (I have a few friends that live here) and most recently enjoyed attending a VIP party at The Independent during the West End Celebration which was co-hosted by MO+CO (Monterey Contemporaries - a membership group affiliated with the Monterey Museum of Art).  Check out their Facebook page to learn more or better yet head to Opening Night of TRANSCENDENTAL VISION :  JAPANESE CULTURE & CONTEMPORARY ART this Friday January 27th.   Festivities commence at 5pm and end at 8pm. Don't miss the Taiko Drummers, Japanese Sword Demo, Silent Auction, Refreshments donate by local Japanese restaurants and meet the artists!
  
  This will be a one month exhibit starting  January 27th - February 26th, 2012, Wednesday - Sunday from 12-7pm.
