My first visit was on Valentine's Day, and it was a fantastic experience. They served a modified menu with plenty of choices. The entire restaurant was full to capacity, yet the kitchen was getting the food out to the patrons in a very timely manner. Everything tasted delicious! I will be returning there in the near future to try out their regular menu as I hear the Shepherd's Pie is legend!

    Pinkie up for this one.
I recently came here for a friend's baby shower and it was so fancy. The setup was very nice and we had table service ( I know, am i used to anything)?
The food was meh, I guess just the usual mass produced food. I had the orange ruffy and it wasn't bad, wasn't great. The veggies were so so.
I think my only complaint was that the drinks were at the bar, and the punch that was being served was already watered down, like no one was really taking care of that.
It was a nice place though.

This place is so special to my husband and me. We've been coming for years just to eat, but we also had our rehearsal dinner here four years ago and announced to our family in the snug that we were expecting our first baby two years ago. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, service is outstanding, and the food is exceptional. They also know how to properly pour a Guinness every time. You can't go wrong.

Blandity, bland, bland.  This sums it up pretty well.

Everything tastes like nothing.  Hyperbole?  Yes.  Existentially possible?  Probably not.  You see my point though.  Perhaps all the Indian food over the years demand that my mouth be overwhelmed by a thousand spices to elicit any reaction anymore.

The potato soup tastes like liquified potato.  As someone that hasn't developed a palate for a potato's intricacies, I fail to see this as a good thing.  The vegetables with my meal?  Boiled.  Can't tell if it's fresh or frozen, they're...just...there.  Well, this Guiness battered shrimp sounds delic....nope.  Just tastes like plain fried shrimp (decent portions though).  Apparently, cooking with Guiness doesn't impart the same tastes as drinking it.  Maybe they should add a Guiness sauce on the side then.  Then again, maybe Irish food just isn't my thing.

We went here for dinner last Saturday evening with my sister and her husband. They had never been here before.  They were just so happy with their meal as wer my husband and I.
The dinners that were ordered were four spinach and crab soup that were delicious.
One file mignon with french fries, one scallop slugo?  I believe that was the name,
steak fitzgerald, and the rack of lamb.  Everything was cooked just perfect and they even remembered the mint jelly for the rack of lamb.

All the bread selections were also delicious.
    This is my favorite restaurant.

I went here for an 80th birthday party and I really liked the vibe, the service, and the food. It's' a great place for a small private event because they have lots of little reviews.

The menu has some standards (Corned Beef & Cabbage, Shephard's Pie) but also a nice selection of more modern fare. I appreciated the variety! Personally, I went with the more traditional dishes because a good hearty Irish dish is a treat for me. The food was all delicious.

Except I did have one major food complaint: I ordered cream of spinach soup with crab and the crab was imitation. CRAB STICK. Yuck. And we're on Long Island, land of good seafood! Less crab, but real crab would have given the soup better flavor and texture.

The service was wonderful - everyone was friendly and accommodating. I would come back surely. It's a great family place.

Went here today after mass for an early dinner with some family members. My parents have been regulars here for years and i only on occasion have made my way to the Irish coffee pub. We were a full hour early then our reservation and they accommodated us immediately. You can always say if it was packed that wouldn't have happened but they were extremely nice. It was restaurant week and all six of us took advantage of the pre-fixed menu which included soup, entree and dessert. I had the beef barley soup and asked for another cup of the potato soup as everyone else was saying how great it was, both soups a-ok. I had the new york strip steak with a terraiki sauce, very nice, and finished off with ice cream with a chocolate chip cookie. very good all around. And don't forget a few pints of that good ole Irish ale Smithwicks, good stuff. They wait staff was wonderful and pleasant. I know why my parents frequent this place.

I'm really torn about how to review the Irish Coffee Pub.

On one hand, the food was good, it was hot, and the restaurant atmosphere was really very nice. But... well, here's the thing. It tasted and looked like banquet/wedding food --- granted, really good, banquet/wedding food but, right.

Maybe it was side of steamed vegetables or the mashed potatoes that were doled out via ice cream scoop that are keeping me from giving away that fourth star. I can definitely see why the Irish Coffee Pub gets great reviews and why its a well known wedding caterer in the area... I just can't see it as a brilliant stand alone restaurant.

Went here for New Years Eve 2012 and I really enjoyed it. It is a beautiful place, don't let pub in the title throw off. The wait service was attentive, albeit over worked since it was crowded being New Years and all. I had the bacon wrapped filet mignon and baked potato which melted in my mouth. Loved it. My boyfriend had the teriyaki steak and he enjoyed his immensely as well. I wasn't super impressed with my apple tart for dessert. It wasn't bad by any means but I have had better. I would definitely give some of the other desserts a try the next time I am there. I will definitely go back for the ambiance and the entrees. This would be a lovely place for a nice date or to celebrate a special occasion.

Oh wow, it's been so long since I've been here and I am so glad my family decided on having a holiday dinner here! I forgot how nice it is in here. Walking in, I felt as though I was a kid again walking into my grandmother's house for Christmas dinner.  The Irish Coffee Pub is decorated meticulously for the holidays - and this place is huge! The upstairs was closed which is usually used for catered events. On the main floor they have many different rooms, each decorated with nuances of Irish country living. We were seated in the main dining room which, in my opinion, is the nicest room. The fireplace was roaring and really accentuates the ambiance of this cozy room.

Starting, as always, with a round of pre-dinner drinks, I ordered a Bombay Sapphire and tonic. The bartenders at the Irish Coffee Pub don't play around - the tonic was merely an after-thought! Oh so nice. With dinner, we split a bottle of Dancing Bull Zinfandel (Cali) $35 (x3.5 mark-up, retail $9.99). They have a pretty comprehensive wine list with most bottles ranging from $35-$60. Other non-wine drinkers in our party stuck with Guinness, which tasted fresh and cold. On a quick side note: there's a great authentic-looking bar/area nicknamed, "the snug", where they have live music on most weeknights.

For dinner, they are featuring two different menus: regular traditional menu and their holiday menu. The holiday menu is basically a prix fix menu where you get a choice of 1 appetizer, 1 entrée, and 1 dessert for $29.99. It's a good deal, but you won't find any of the Irish classics on it like Sheppard's Pie or Corned Beef and Cabbage (more continental selections like pork chops, shrimp scampi, etc.). I went with the traditional menu and ordered Sheppard's Pie $20 (comes with a house salad with creamy dill dressing and fresh steamed veggies).  It was served piping hot and tasted outstanding; so close to how my grandmother makes it.  Guinness and Sheppard's Pie...life is oh so good!! Everyone else in the party thoroughly enjoyed their meals as well. Irish Coffees are a must at the end of your dinner. They use Powers Gold Label Irish Whiskey en lieu of the typical Jameson's which, I feel, gives a sweeter finish..yum!

Service was impeccable and our waitress Katie had the most adorable brogue. We were treated like extended family members which is par for the course here. The Irish Coffee Pub has been going strong for 28 years and understandably why: great food, drink and Irish hospitality all in a warm home-like atmosphere. What more can an Irishman ask for?

    Erin Go Bragh!

I can not comment on the menu food nor the restaurant service since I was at a prearranged, catered affair, on their top floor, Ballroom level.  I found the catered food to be delicious! Everything that was ordered for our party was wonderful. The bar tenders were outstanding! The only thing that was not superb for some reason was the cake they served for dessert at the end of the evening. Maybe it wasn't even from them, not sure. It was extremely dry for NY bakery standards. Now the Italian cookies were another story. They were awesome! You know, this place is very pretty. I loved the upstairs room and the outside patio areas. Very charming. I had a marvelous time here. I had always wanted to go all the years I lived in NY and never did. I am happy to finally say I have visited the ICP. Thank you to the staff for such a pleasant event.

Great food. Nice atmosphere. Traditional Irish fare as well as American fare. Full bar.  Great for parties large or small. Special private rooms and larger areas for weddings and dancing etc. Excellent beef barley soup, and may I suggest the salmon. Perfect every time!! Offsite catering available.

What can I say, I have been here more than a few times over the last few years, and have never been disappointed! From appetizers to salad, entree, and dessert, all the food is exceptional, and the service is top notch.
I highly recommend the rack of lamb special, its quite simply the best anywhere.
    Nice atmosphere and never rushed.

If you find yourself in the unfortunate situation of being hungry in Islip, I can relate.  Work brought me out here and I hadn't seen this many trees and grass in months.  I also didn't see very many restaurants.  My coworker and I decided on the Irish Coffee Pub and it ended up being some of the best food I had had in a while (and I live in Manhattan..).

We had eaten no lunch earlier so we needed to quell major hunger pangs.  We kept it simple- I went with the shepherd's pie, and my buddy went with the fish and chips.  The shepherd's pie was legit.  It was spiced exceedingly well and the veggies (yea, typically no one gives a damn about veggies)  were crisp, fresh, and on point.  The fish and chips though.... it was flounder that had no fishy taste and the breading was moist and flaky.  I was full within just the first five minutes, but it was all so good that I downed my entire pie and about half of my coworker's fish too.

We had no booze since we still had to make the epic trek home to NYC, but the drink menu looked interesting.  This place had sort of a gentlemen's club feel- no, not strip club... rather one of those places where old dudes get together to drink and talk about their mistresses.  I think when I'm old and want to drink and talk about my mistresses, while eating fish and chips, I will come here.

Oh me oh my! A friend was generous enough to invite me to dinner at the Irish Coffee Pub, which is right down the street from where I go to school.  I'm generally not a classy lady, but there was something about this place that curbed my urge to curse.

The seafood platter is an absolute no brainer. The seafood bisque is also an inevitable decision.  You must order it.  Seriously.  That is, unless you prefer red meat, and in that case, then, you would probably order the surf and turf, which even made this vegetarian's mouth water.

The wine "list" is not substantial, so fellow wineauxs may have difficulty gulping down a generic shiraz.  Don't worry, your meal will more than make up the difference.

The service is traditional, much like the establishment.  Your food will be served promptly and piping hot.

I never have room for dessert, so I didn't indulge.  i will admit, though, their desert menu looked more than enticing.

We had my dad's 60th birthday here, just a smallish family dinner and it was great. We had the room mostly to ourselves which was surprising since it was March and there was a big Irish parade that day. There was also live Irish music in another room which we could just hear which was nice. The service was excellent.

I agree with the previous review that the Shepherd's pie is delicious. That's usually what I get. My husband got one of the specials when we were there. Some kind of pork chop with bacon-wrapped shrimp if I remember correctly and it was absolutely amazing. My mom had it too, everyone who tried it loved it.

The potato soup is my favorite thing! You have to try it. Also the barley soup is good, and if you ask them they will mix the two together which is very tasty.

I've been to a few bridal and baby showers here and they are very nice. The round room they have them in looks really cool.

The only thing I don't like about the Irish Coffee Pub, and this is a big dislike for me since they specialize in Irish cooking, is the Irish soda bread. It is unforgivably awful. I bake my own traditional Irish soda bread so admittedly I am pretty discerning. But it really isn't even passable. It's like a KFC biscuit with raisins in it. Seriously, they need to do something about the Irish soda bread, so disappointing.
