I really wanted to find this place. It is behind the Italian restaurant at 18 S. State street. You cannot find it unless you know it's there. We called after going to a place nearby to see if they were still on business. They are there. I would call ahead. We could not find any sign on State street. We'll try again some time.

Not only does Isaac's feature and extensive beer menu, I would go as far to argue that they have the best burgers in Bucks County. The food menu is extensive and really fits any demographic; family friendly, but also a great place to throwback a few. The patio during the summer is a great place to enjoy an excellent beer along with a cigar. The only downside is the bar area can be tight during busier hours, and it would be great if there was more room there.

Isaac's is a great lunch spot. Their wraps and burgers are great. There's a lot of options to customize your burgers, too; sub with a chicken or turkey burger, etc. Their menu is HUGE, so you'll definitely be able to find something for everyone.

I love this place!  They have a nice selection of draft beer, and the food was great!  The only downside was, me and my guest ate upstairs and we were put in a booth.  I do not have any problems with booths but the only downside to the booth was, that since I am big person, but not too big, was i felt kind of crampted in the booth.  I should have asked if we could have been moved to a table, but did not think of it until it was too late.  Overall, the experience was a great one.  The waitress, was able to explain the different beers that they had listed on a huge chalkboard, and she also made sure that our experience was a great one!  Job well done!!!

We really enjoy going to Isaacs for drinks and, occasionally, food. Great, laid-back atmosphere with much better service than the neighboring Green Parrot. They really do have some of the best burgers in the area. I tried a burger on special that had salsa, nacho cheese, & tortilla chips on it that was absolutely fantastic. Their beer selection is enormous and can be overwhelming, but it does give a lot of options. My boyfriend's favorite is the Triple B burger.

The crowd here is pretty diverse depending on the time of day you're going. Young professionals to cougars throughout the week.

This place is my comfort food. They're consistent and very family-friendly. We probably eat here once a month.  The beer selection is great and I never have to worry about my son bothering the other patrons because they always seat families upstairs.

Went for the first time on a Saturday night with my husband and three young children.  The service was a tiny bit slow, but certainly acceptable for a Saturday night.  Our server was very friendly.  The kids split a pizza, which was very reasonably priced at $4.50.  The calamari, though its breading was slightly lacking in flavor, was super tender and cooked perfectly and was served with both a marinara and some sort of yummy aioli.   Ordered Blaine 's burger, which came out a perfect medium!  I rarely get a burger cooked exactly the way a want it, but this one hit the spot.  Overall, I was impressed with the food here and would definitely return for another meal. Good place for families with reasonably priced good food in a relaxed and casual environment.

Beer heaven, literally. Park in the rear but be prepared to have to wait for a spot. Newtown is adorable but during busy times its impossible to get around in!  You'll want to stick with the burgers here.

Great beer selection and the service is good. Some off nights with the kitchen, but all-in-all pretty good.

Indoor and outdoor seating, separate bar area, and second level seating. All of the areas potentially have a different atmosphere, depending on the time of day you go.

My boyfriend and I love Isaac's. I've been coming here since before the fire over ten years ago (if I'm not mistaken), but I really think their food keeps getting better and better.

They have a huge menu and an even bigger beer menu. I don't like beer, but I have friends who like beer, and they're into it. I love their Bloody Mary's, but you have to ask for horseradish... probably more than once.

I'm a pescetarian (the only meat I eat is fish), but after four years of being vegetarian, I've always found options here.

    A few favorites:

Isaac's Fancy Burger (with a veggie burger patty)
Southwest Fish Wrap (this is my favoritefavorite)
    Seafood Caesar Salad
Buffalo Chicken Caesar Salad (I haven't had this since before I stopped eating meat over five years ago, but I remember it being great)
    Warm Brie Wheel
The fries... obviously. They are glorious.

    Yum.

I was down in this part of Pennsylvania visiting an old friend and we decided that it might be good to go for a beer.  I've been here before.  This is either my second or third time at Isaac Newton's, but it has been awhile since my last visit.

We really only came here for beer.  Also chicken fingers.  The chicken fingers were fine.  Nothing great, but what do you really expect of chicken fingers?  The beer is where it is at.  They have some amazing things on tap.  I think there might be one other place in town that has a decent tap selection, but according to my friend Isaac Newton's beats it.

It is good that this area has a place like this.  If I lived here I'm sure I would be very happy that Isaac Newton's was around.

Over priced for what it is. Every time I give this place a shot the food is okay but not great, and the service is either slow or the staff just isn't the friendliest..

By now, Isaac Newtown's is one of the old places in a very old town. It's gotta be at least twenty years sitting back in the parking lot along Newtown Creek.

Go for the incredible beer on tap or bottles, burgers, Caesar salads, quiche and calzone, but most of the rest of the menu is not as good as what they do best. Prices are decent, if a $10. burger does not scandalize you.

The facility has charm and worn ambiance and the floor plan is comfortable and uncrowded.  The upstairs dining area is where they generally seat families, but with booths you can only hear the kids, and it does not get unpleasant. The best seat in the house is at or near the bar, and that room gets crowded Friday - Sunday nights. Still, you will find many knowledgeable beer lovers hanging out, so you can have a seminar about hops along with your Belgian or local craft brew.

The bathrooms are in the basement, down a steep flight of stairs.  They can be a challenge after a few, and I have never been able to escape the sensation of descending into Dante's lair.

Still, a good local pub with a long beer list and decent bar food. The dinners, not so much.

This was my third and last time at this restaurant. I had the vegetarian chili which tasted like jarred pasta sauce and red peppers nothing else was in it. It was so spicy hot I had 3 spoons and felt sick. I make a wonderful tofu chili at home my whole family loves. I also had the vegetable salad which had no flavor at all. just jarred mushrooms, artichokes and dried tomatoes on arugula. No dressing at all. My daughter had the pesto pasta which had barely any pesto sauce on it. I was very disappointed with my experience.

Would be one star if they depended on the food or service, which has been on steady plunge to and below mediocrity for some time now.

Went with a good-sized business group on a quiet weeknight. It's been our "go to" place when entertaining out-of-town colleagues for a while. No more, though.

I made the mistake of ordering "Pesto, Shrimp and Chicken with sun dried tomatoes tossed with rigatoni." They should re-christen this dish: "Over-cooked shrimp and chicken resembling shoe-leather while nonetheless having no sign of ever seen a grill tossed in a mess of bland glop resembling white carpenter's glue and no sign of even a smidgen of basil or any other herb or spice, including salt and pepper." The sauce was more "al dente" than the pasta, which was limp. And the top layer was cold, having obviously sat for far too long after preparation. The sun-dried tomatoes had apparently been just dumped whole into the mess out of the plastic bag they came in, without marinating, sauteing, or anything requiring actual effort. Salt, pepper (no grated cheese on offer), nothing could be done to make this dish edible.

I got through maybe a quarter of it before just giving up, and felt woozy the rest of the night. I didn't feel like bothering to send it back, as I was with colleagues and didn't want to cause a scene. And I frankly just wanted out of there by that point.

Some of my colleagues ordered the steaks. Now why bother to cook to order if you're just going to give everyone medium-to-medium-well, and are not going to give the wait staff any way to determine which is what anyway? And the sides of veggies and mashed potatoes looked like something from hospital food or a frozen TV dinner. Is there no spice rack in Isaac's kitchen at all?

Someone needs to tell the hostess that if you interrupt an arriving guest mid-sentence to answer the phone, you ask that person to hold while you help the person standing in front of you. It took several minutes for her to deign to inform me that the party was cooling its heels in the bar. Which we did until every last one of us arrived. On a busy night, I could understand, but on a quiet night, why could they not have just seated us and let us order some apps? Of course that would require the staff to do extra walking, which they clearly don't like to do.

The restaurant part of Isaac's needs a good dose of Robert Irvine or Gordon Ramsay.

I'm reviewing this place because as a vegetarian, I was impressed.

This is an unlikely place for good vegetarian food, but I was delighted and surprised with the amount of vegetarian options available on the menu (more than 5 options!!).

I had the warm spinach salad sans bacon and let me tell you it was DELISH!

This ain't no weight watchers salad...try baby spinach sauteed with red onions, caramelized walnuts, and dried fruit all covered in melted Gorgonzola cheese. Oh yes.

Atmosphere: Rustic red barn in New York City.  ...I'm still trying to figure it out.

It's this bizarre mix of  rustic country (barn stars, and Edward Hicks paintings of Quakers) with swirly modern steel light fixtures (which they keep WAY too dim).

Anyway I'm not one to eat anywhere purely for the atmosphere so the verdict is:

Attention pub lovin' carnivores: You now have a place to bring your vegetarian friends!

I am a bit mixed with the star rating here. I have been coming to isaac's for years. I would say for their beer selection 5 stars. For food and service no more than 3 stars. I have had some excellent servers and others that simply forgot they had customers and when the bar is packed it seems to take forever to get a drink. Maybe add another bartender for nights when it is expected there will be high volume. The food is good, but doesn't knock my socks off. It is however one of my favorite places in the area to meet friends and grab a delicious beer.

    Simple review...

Isaac Newton's has a good craft beer list but only okay food.

I don't necessarily think this is a "beer destination" as some make it out to be. Newton's certainly has the best selection in the area though.

I really like this place.  Though not exactly gourmet boutique, the place is my go-to for good bar food.  The hot wings (I'm a hot wings fanatic) are excellent, and the burgers are great and good quality.  The atmosphere is good, especially upstairs.  My complaint is that when you are seated upstairs, you are easily forgotten about, especially if it's early.  Summary: fun place with good bar food.

Super crazy on a Friday night. Service was not great and the food was just ok. If you go for the beer, then it would be worth it to go to the bar. Maybe get some apps. Probably not going back though.

You absolutely cannot go wrong with the beer here; they have a huge craft beer menu and when they have tastings it is awesome too. They have a pretty sweet late night happy hour (after 9 pm I believe). The bartenders are great, but it can get really packed on the weekends and outside during nice weather.

I have eaten here several times. Lunch is OK. You can do much better other places. Dinner is just so-so. I would never eat here if they didn't have such good beer. I really wish that they had better food. Oh and the bathrooms... I have never seen them really dirty, but they ALWAYS smell like something is dying down there and I try to get out as soon as I can. The bathrooms could use a makeover.

Issac Newton's is a great little Belgian Beer bar and is one of my favorite places to eat or grab a drink in Newtown. Firstly, their tap and bottle list is ever changing with lots of great choices plus seasonal beers. They have a bar area and a more formal dining area (both downstairs and upstairs) which is good in case you're looking for a quieter spot. The food is average or slightly above average but my favorites are the fried mac & cheese on the starters menu and the caeser salad (I usually don't even get anything on it)....pretty good stuff. I've always had decent service too. I'm definitely a fan and look forward to going back - love the atmosphere.

Have done lunch there several times and am always satisfied with the meal, as there are some unusual items on the menu. If you prefer to play it safe, they have a great burger.
The beer selection can be a little overwhelming so the staff could do a little better describing the flavors to you, unless you're the type that enjoys experimenting using just the quirky names. If you believe you are a brew-master, what are you waiting for?

It is a little pricey for lunch, but the neighborhood should tell you this before you get there.
You have to try them at least once.

First of all, the name is awesome and I will be the first to admit to my inherent nerdiness and confess that it was my main motive for coming here.  That aside, the food is pretty good and the ambiance upbeat and bustling during happy hour.

We split the white wine sauteed mussels and fries, and I got the caramelized walnut and dried cranberries chicken Caesar, almost out of curiosity.  The mussels were pretty good but not as good as Monk's or Teresa's, although I did like the hot, crispy fries and the hint of saffron.  My salad was quite interesting as I have never had a Caesar salad with candied nuts and fruit; it was actually pretty tasty but a bit different from your conventional salad.  I requested mine with blackened chicken since I like my chicken slightly charred, and that went very well with the creamy dressing.  To be honest, I think that the nuts and fruit would have been better paired with a piece of blackened salmon rather than the chicken.  Next time.  I also tried some of the vegetarian chili, and that was very good with just the right amount of spice.

While I am not an expert on beers and ales, I did enjoy my La Chouffe, which was nice and fruity.  They have a very large selection of imported beers, so this is a good option if you don't want to travel into the city.

Overall, a fun (hey it's in the description) restaurant/bar with decent food and friendly service.  Will be back to try more of the menu.

I want to love this place, I just keep trying.

Let's start with the beer list.  Top notch for this area... There is nothing like it. I wish they put as much thought into their food as they did their beer selection.  The beer selection...is what Isaac Newton's is known for--I would give the beer selection alone five stars.

The food--eh.  They have an extensive menu. We have eaten here several times, so we have explored the menu.  There are some menu items that are well-thought, unique and fresh, and there are some that are not. The menu is very inconsistent. For example, the vegetarian chili is to die for; the pizza is frozen and was undercooked and doughy.  The hamburger is fresh ground-beef with a fresh succulent roll; the turkey burger is a frozen hockey-puck.  It's almost like they chose 10 or 20 items to prepare fresh and the rest, frozen fillers.  We are super picked about freshness and quality of food.

The ambiance is okay. Dingy and worn. The service is tough. There are lots of bust boys and hostesses, but it seems like their wait staff carries too many tables, consistently.   Kids/non-alcoholic drinks came first, then appetizers, THEN beer and wine. They need to work out the kinks in the time it takes their wait staff to get alcohol to the table.

We like this place because it's close to home and it's the best pub in the area. I wish they would give the place a facelift and evaluate the menu for more fresh options.

One of the best in Newtown; when I'm in the area, I like coming here a lot.  As most reviews have said, the beer selection has no comparison.  I usually go for a cider.

As for food, the entrees are above average and moderately priced.  I quite like the veggie chili.  I also love the olive oil and seasoning for bread dipping on the tables.  I've even bought jars of the seasoning to come home!

The decor has something to be desired - little ratty (booth seats need to be replaced), dirty carpeting, somewhat dank.  A new paint job, maybe?  Hardwood floors, get rid of the carpet?

Still, the food makes me want to come back again and again.  You won't be disappointed...especially when you see and order from the extensive drink selection!

Let's just skip the entire food aspect of this review and get to the true saving grace of Isaac Newton's: their weekday happy hour.  Thanks to them, my entire beer vocabulary has exponentially expanded.  Why?  Monday-Thursday's from 10-12am grants guests 50% off pricing on specific beers that Isaac's offers.  No, it's not half-off Yuengling or Blue Moon, (although, they are included) but rather rare keg's that you typically don't see.  All very good, though! The only thing I do advise is to recognize that the 50% off special pertains ONLY to the UNDERLINED brews listed on their chalkboards.

Lotta history down this road.  I've probably been here 7-8 times (From what I can remember).  Half of those were post Newtown Brewfest.  The food is surprisingly good.  Calzone / Caesar Salad combos are excellent and the extras (Breads/appeteizers) are all solid.  While the food was a pleasant surprise, this place is known for having a kick-ass beer selection.  We're talking a massive selection here.  I pride myself on knowing a fair amount of beers but I always seem to find a few I haven't tried yet.

The crowd is very mixed and it seems to hover more on the 30s age bracket.  Roll in on a Saturday and you're bound to hear Penn State war stories from alums.  If for some reason you're in the area (Brewfest is a no brainer) then I'd definitely recommend hitting this place up for food and drinks.

I found my way into Isaac Newton's at the end of a destination-less drive with my boyfriend a little over two weeks ok. He boasted about the place greatly so I could not deny stopping here for lunch.

The inside decor gives off a old rustic and 'happy-to-be-american' type feel.

My waiter sold me on a bacon cheeseburger and I was so happy with that decision! The burger was juicy and fries were very crisp. It all came with this tangy horseradish sauce that you could literally dip anything edible on your plate into.
At the end of the meal, my date and I split a Reese's pie which almost gave this chocolate and peanut butter lover a heart attack.

You can't pass up this place for a good burger.

and apparently you can't pass up the 150+ beers they have stored there as well!

You know a place is badass when "Fun Food and Drink" is in its name.

Depending on the GPS unit or web site you use, they could be hard to find. Don't worry, they're actually conveniently off of Washington and State. Plus, they've got a large parking lot.

During happy hour there's a healthy crowd. Besides a beer selection, there's a pleasant amount of liquor. Last I was there, I did a kamikaze shot, then tried one with Jagermeister, then a screaming eagle shot, I think (about $5/shot)?

Shared tasty string fries, then got myself a hot dog kid's meal -edible and affordable, of course - replacing the fries with applesauce. The applesauce was divine. Sadly I forgot to redeem the ice cream that comes with my meal! Ah, regrets.

Great selection of beer (kind of their self-proclaimed fame) usually about 20 different varieties on draft and around a hundred in bottles.  We sat outside for the first time, which was nice, although we had to ask for candles to actually see the menu.  Bread and water were quickly brought the table, although the bread was almost stale.  The prison sentence was quickly over though when the Scottish Ale I ordered was brought over, which I recommend, very smooth amber beer.

Dinner was decent and filling.  Mostly traditional American fair with odd details in sections like salads.  I ended up having my salad with fried wild-mushroom ravioli.  An odd combination that almost works.

Service was fine, but the selection of beer was better.  Heard a couple disappointments about the wine list from a couple tables over, so might not be the first choice for a fine dining experience.  Probably best for appetizers and beer than anything else.

Visually, Newton's is a delight. Nice cozy atmosphere, comfortable seating and lighting, and a certain attention to detail. Lots of dark wood, natural elements, and clean surfaces. Aurally, there's a certain hush, but there always seems to be conversation going on in the background. It sounds wonderful in here.

The bar is really where this place shines. An amazing on tap selection of fine craft beers are rotated regularly. It really is outstanding. Food is great for the style.

Once smoking laws extend to this place, it will be flawless.

The restaurant is large, the parking lot is large ( although you may still have to street park), the drink menu is large, as is the beer selection with over one hundred choices. The largest thing of all is the menu!

You could eat here twice a day for a month and have different combinations of this and that and still not cover it all. I wonder if anyone has ever tried? It is hilariously written with their snide comments.

In house Belgium frittes with dipping sauce, four cheese macaroni pie, wings, sliders, nachos are just a handful of a couple of dozen appetizers. You name it they make it salads and claim to have the best Caesar you will ever eat.

From ribs, to burgers, sandwiches, a daily quiche, soups to entrees, you will go crazy trying to decide. I would love to try their ribs, but I can never get past the appetizers which I fill up on and they make a great fresh burger.

They can make any drink that you have in mind. It's hot outside, would you like a strawberry- lemonade martini? Or a lime flavored Absolute vodka iced tea?

    Check them out @

Stellar beer menu, with many wonderful craft breweries and international breweries available on tap.  Growlers available for taking your favorites home.  Best selection in the area.

Great pub food, especially the burgers.  They recently stopped serving the wonderful belgian style pomme frites for regular sized fries.  Big disappointment for me.

    Now smoke-free, which is brilliant!

My boyfriend and I like to meet his friends up in Newtown on occasion, and we like to go to Isaac Newton's more than any place in the area.  It's got a pretty good beer selection for the 'burbs, including some Belgian beers, and it's got a cool pub vibe to it.  The bartenders and wait staff are friendly, the clientele is cool, and they have an outside seating area for nice summer evenings.

The downsides?  The beer is somewhat expensive, and the bar is smokey inside.

I haven't had the food, so I can't comment on that.

In the area for a corporate training, I rate Isaac Newton's for the local geography more than the establishment.  Crashing at the town's seemingly only hotel, the Hampton Inn, I was at first impressed with the town's bucolic charm.  However, the charm quickly subsided to disturbia.  Perfectly manicured lawns and large, yet generic homes quickly lent to Stepford paranoia.

A colleague and I decided to go for a beer run.  Local grocers and convenient stores had the complete look of fear in their eyes as we asked for a easy place to pick up a six-pack.  In this dry county, alcohol can only be purchased in bars or distilleries.  Seriously, when is the last time you went to a distillery for a drink?

We found Isaac Newton's, a quaint little pub with an impressive beer offering and a typical bar menu.  The hamburger was good, but nothing to write home about.  The service was that of a typical blue-collar establishment.  However, I was happy to wet my whistle.

Is it me, or is odd to not see a single African American?  Where is the Hispanic population?  Am I the only 'mo in the state?

If you're in the area, sure check out this place.  But, be forewarned, many patron's have Frankenstein bolts in their necks.
