The one star is not a rating.. it's for the fact that they are closed now. After trying to go a few times..calling.  Found a link to tweet from Waukesha Freeman (paper) that the place had closed.

Best dam burger I ever had :(

    FOOD POISONING ALERT

We went here around noon yesterday. I feel fine, but my other half has not been doing so well. Around 5 yesterday she started feeling unwell. It wasn't until about 8 or 9 that things got real bad. She had a rough night, and is just starting to feel a bit better.

I was going to give this place 3 stars, as I thought the food was pretty good. I had the Baja Chicken and she had the Aloha Burger. It could have been expired pineapple, or bad beef that she ate, I'm not sure. Everything else that we ate earlier that day and the night before I also ate and feel fine, so it has to be that burger. I wouldn't post a review like this unless I was certain.

I'm not sure if this could have caused it, but our server was coughing a lot and was obviously sick. I have a pretty firm belief that if you work in food service, you should not come to work sick, so I was pretty turned off by that.

The beer was cheap and it is a decent atmosphere. I would probably go there for drinks again, but not food.

My wife and I visited J Lotti's on a Saturday afternoon.  To be frank I had high expectations but I was let down.  We both ordered beers but when I asked what was on tap the waitress seemed rushed.  She went through the beers very rapidly and I was compelled to ask her to repeat herself often to understand the brands.   We both ordered hamburgers, my wife getting the New Glarus Swiss and I ordered the House Specialty, The J Lotti.  My burger was very bland for being a house specialty.  The J Lotti is supposed to be 1/2 precooked weight burger with a fried egg, two slices of bacon and a wine and cream reduction sauce.  The burger must have been very fatty because it was a relatively small patty when it came to the table, not at all what I expected a 1/2 pound of ground beef to be.  Further, the bacon was cold and the reduction sauce was very bland.  The patty did not seem to be seasoned at all.  I chose not to top the burger with condiments since I thought the burger would stand on its own, but it was simply an uninspired burger.  My wife liked her burger, a 1/2 pound burger with sauteed mushrooms and melted Swiss cheese however she felt it needed ketchup and mustard as well as the Au jus sauce to dress it up.  The waitress and kitchen was very slow.  It took over an hour for us to place our order and receive our meal, although the beers came relatively quickly, even though there were only two other patrons in the pub at the time.  Overall, J Lottis was clean but the wait for the uninventive fare was not worth the premium prices for the meal.

Back to J Lotti's to check out their burgers. The mushroom and Swiss burger was terrific! Served with an au jus dipping sauce, it's a cross between a cheeseburger and a French dip sandwich. Beer-battered onion rings are an up-charge, but are worth every penny. Great food and service makes J  Lotti's a great choice next time you're craving a burger.

I'm always hopeful when trying a new place and I'm all about patronizing local business. Though this one fell short for me I have to give it three stars due to the wonderful brandy old fashioned! Other than the drink, overall experience was so so.
We were there on a Friday night and there were many empty tables which was a bit of a surprise. Place was too loud for my liking due to the sports bar tv atmosphere and my salmon salad would have been great other than it was extremely salty. Had a bite of my spouse's burger which was good but not earth shattering.
Will we be back? Probably not.

I've been a few times and have noticed the food and service are hit or miss which is surprising given the strong presence of the owners. All three times I've been, the owners are circulating the floor and interacting with customers.

Interestingly enough, one of the three visits was also on St. Patty's Day (same as the other reviewer). We were quite disappointed that they had a special menu as we had hoped to order something else off their main menu.

The burgers are DELICIOUS. On Tuesday nights you can get $1 tap beers and $1 burgers. That's one heck of a deal. I've also had their chicken and waffles (the first time I ever tried chicken and waffles) and it was an immediate favorite. The chicken was juicy and just the right amount of kick for a good piece of fried chicken in my book. Unfortunately on a separate visit we tried the fish fry (which for $14 also comes with all you can eat fried chicken), and it was incredibly dry (to the point of being hard to swallow) and the fish left much to be desired. (I had the fried fish, my dining mates had the baked and said it wasn't very flavorful).

I'd definitely go back for the burger and other menu options as long as it's not on a Friday (maybe the crowd caused the lack of quality).

Service was good. Each time our waitresses were a little flighty and forgot at least one thing we requested. The owners seem very involved though, so I imagine shortly all service qualms will be resolved.

It's a nice interior, plenty of booths, low tops and high top tables as well as ample seating around the bar. I've never had to wait to be seated or seen the place packed enough to require a wait. Parking has never been a problem, there's meter / street parking right out front. During nicer weather they've got patio seating out front. There's plenty of TV's to make it a decent place to watch a game.

Disappointing. Fries were soggy and not crisp. The turkey burger was a pre-made patty that looked anemic and most likely came straight out of the freezer. The waitress couldn't tell us what beers they had on tap and there was no beer list. There were five other full tables when we ate there and we had a party of two, but they still managed to mess up our order. I ordered the J Lotti house burger and the boursin cheese had run off of the burger before it had even made it to the table. We found this place in M magazine as one of the best burgers in the Milwaukee area. Five guys has better burgers for less money.

We went on a Monday night which is typically a slower night for resturants.  There were maybe 10 people in the resturarant.  The one waitress doubled as the bartender.  We got there at around 7pm, ordered and it took about 10 minutes for our drinks and we didn't get our food until 7:40 pm.  This just seemed like too long to wait for 2 burgers.  When we got our food, neither of us was happy.  My girlfriend had the Tex Mex which had fried jalapeno's that were too overcooked and a "spicy texas sauce" that was nothing more then frank's red hot or similar buffalo sauce.  My burger was the J Lotti, the "signature burger" with bacon, fried egg, and a cheese sauce reduction.  My egg was not fried completely leaving the yolk somewhat runny which sounds good.  In reality, it made the burger more mushy between that and the cheese sauce. The bacon was excellent and the star of the burger but neither my girlfriend nor I could actually taste the burger patties.  The burgers were done nicely to our requested tastes, medium rare for my girlfriend and medium for myself.  Overall, just not worth the wait.

Stopped in for the first time on St. Patrick's Day for dinner.  Was seated a a high-top table.
They had a special menu for St. Patrick's Day.  Based on other reviews, I chose their house burger, the Old Standby.  Unfortunately the burger I received was not as I had ordered it.  The waitress also noticed and just said that she wrote down the correct order and then she walked away.   The burger was still edible, but I expected at least an apology or offer to get me another one (she did apologize later when I was almost finished eating).  I'll chalk it up to being a busy night.
Outside of that experience, the burger was very good.  The waffle fries were yummy and the pickle extra crispy.  The manager/owner (?) spoke with us a few times and was extremely friendly.
The atmosphere was very nice.  Somewhat sports bar, but not dark and screaming loud.
I'll be back for the burger again and I'm looking forward to seeing what other regular menu items they have.
