You can expect when you order food to get a few things wrong, but honestly in all my orders and all the items inside that order I've not had bad food yet. Â Pizza, appetizers, pasta YES! Â All perfect and all very good. Â
French Fries are amazing
Pretzel bites  YUMMY (maybe a bit too much butter oil)
Mozz. Sticks are incredible.
Now the pizza, the double decker is all I order and it's incredible, and you won't want anything else, it's thick, with cheese intertwined with the layers, it was amazing and sooo good. Â
I love the Ofallon Store is the best, very kind staff and they are always so friendly. Â
Oh, I'll be back and I hope to see you all there.
We spent $40 bucks on two 12 inch pizzas - That's $12 for a think crust that I can easily get at Imos for a fraction of the cost and a whopping $25 for a 12 inch "double decker" with pepper slices, sausage, and onion. One of us hates mushrooms so we tried to order one half of the double decker without mushrooms and were told it would be more expensive if we try to "split halves". Really? I don't care who you are but $25 for a 12 inch pizza (It is not deep dish. I don't care what they call it, double or triple decker) is just highway robbery. I can and have dropped some serious dough on food but this just wasn't worth it.
Review Source:What a surprise in the middle of nowhere! Found this place on Yelp (of course) after touring the "Train Museum" with my 5-year-old son, my husband, and my 87-year-old mother. Try to please THAT crowd! Â And what an off-beat name for an "Italian" place. Plus, we got off to a bad start since the hostess didn't want to accomodate us on the patio, then did so with a frown. Still 4 Stars!
Mom & Kiddo split a pizza - 1/2 pepperoni & 1/2 veggie. Man was THAT good!!!
I had the pasta with spinich & feta, hubbie had the Alfredo sauce (he's such a sucker for that!) All was delicious.
In conclusion: If you ever make it out this far and stumble on this place definitely go for the pizza!!
Holy expensive Buffalo Chicken pizza Batman! Â It was damn near 17 dollars for their smallest version of this pizza. Â I was quite upset, because it was just me eating pizza. Â I had to settle for a personal size pizza. Â It was pretty bland and boring. Â This place came in as our second choice after the Corner pub and grill was backed up out the door with a huge wait. Â I kind of wish we would have just said the heck with it, and waited for the Corner Pub, but sadly it was about to rain, and we just didn't have the time.
Review Source:JJ Twigs is an excellent example of straightforward STL style pizza. The crust is just as expected, thin but not cardboard. We ordered a half and half pizza and the server had no problem delivering a masterpiece. My half, covered in meat, was extremely flavorful and delicious. My GF's half, veggie and chicken, was a bit less flavorful but she still enjoyed it.
Service was not over the top, but attentive and we never felt like we were in need of anything.
I would definitely go back for another pie!
I Really enjoy the pizza here. the crust is crispy and the sauce is good.
The fried pickles were very greasy, a pool of oil in the bottom of the basket.
One thing very strange...We ordered the meatlovers pizza, minus the canadian bacon, and they charged us EXTRA to take the canadian bacon off- The server said..."yeah its stupid, but its policy"  gotta love that!
The wife and I were craving some margaritas and pizza before the Blues game (GO BLUES!) and remembered JJ Twigs. We have been here about 3 other times and always have had a good experience, this time would be no different. Â We were immediately greeted and seated in a booth and ordered our margaritas and pizza.
The wife ordered a pineapple and cheese pizza and I got a pepperoni and homemade Italian sausage, both of them being the 12" double deckers.
Our drinks arrived and were nice and strong. I wasn't expecting the worlds greatest margarita at a pizza place but it was very good and as mentioned it was strong. No weak pours from the bartender! Â
The pizza came out and was awesome! Cooked just right (I normally ask for pizza to be well done)and even though I had ordered pepperoni and sausage which is usually a artery clogging grease bonanza, the pizza was not overly greasy. The crusts were awesome and the sauce was seasoned nicely and we had plenty of left overs. Â One of these days I may have to stray from their pizza and try something else on the menu.
Went to grab a pizza late on a Friday night. The hours state that they are open until midnight but when we arrived around 9:30p- the place was cleared out and the staff seemed annoyed that we wanted to order.
We chose a spot at the bar and the bartender was friendly. Pitcher of Shock Top and a Haley's Comet (double pepperoni & double mozz) pizza later.... Nothing special. Maybe the Double Decker is where it is at but the original thin crust doesn't have much to offer. It reminded me of a frozen pizza and to say that this includes double ingredients is a definite stretch. $17 for a 12" seems a little steep too- probably won't go back. Sorry JJ's....
One of my favorite pizza places, I really like the thin crust pizza. Â Its a little salty tasting compared to some others, but other than that it is extremely good. Â Thin crisp crust piled high with toppings. Â The pizza is not cheap. Â A large will cost $20. Â But it is worth it. Â They also serve Amber Bock on draft, another reason this is one of my favorite places.
Review Source:After eating here about five times, I thought it was time to give it a review. Â The food is very consistent, that is a big deal to me. Â I know every time I go there, it will be good. Â
The pizza is cooked thoroughly with a crisp crust and abundant toppings. Â Their Chopped Salad is awesome! Â It is fresh, huge and well, chopped. Â A couple of weeks ago I veered offed the pizza and salad road and ordered an Italian beef sandwich and sure enough, it was great. Â The fries were cooked to a perfect, piping hot, golden brown too. Â
It isn't a huge place, but I like that. Â It is a cozy pizzeria, dimly lit with a separate bar and dining room. Â This is my new go to place for a cold beer, hot pizza and fresh salad!
Great pizza.
We have not tried the "double decker" yet.
The regular thin pizza, no provel cheese, is very good!
They have the ugliest yummiest battered mushrooms I have ever eaten!
I mean they really look unappetizing BUT they taste YUM!!!
We were able to take advantage of a warm day and use the patio.
The service was great!
Go have a good pizza here. :)
Husband and I have visited JJ Twigs three times now, and each time it has been great! Â Service is good, attentive and food timing is paced just right. Â He orders the boulevard wheat on tap, I get the pom-tini and we're always pleased with these. Â We order an appetizer of pretzels (very good, just wish there were a few more pretzels in the order!). Â Usually order a pineapple and bacon thin crust, or a pineapple/spinach/tomato - all three times have been scrumptious! Â We always leave with leftovers, and are just as good the second time :) Â
Will be back soon I'm sure - great place to relax/hang out/catch up - it is a small place, so you may have to wait for a seat. Â We waited at the bar once, which was fine as well. Â Enjoy!
I love this place. Im a bit of a pizza snob, so I take my pizza very seriously. Â The pies here are fantastic. Top two places in the STL area to eat pizza. I love that I can get a Chicago dog too. Â I would say I don't care or the Italian Beef. I've had such great Italian Beef in Chicago and it just didn't compare. Â Finally, I love to go and watch White Sox games here.
Review Source:Will they throw me out of the city of St. Louis if I admit proudly that I hate thin crust pizza? Well I am sorry, but I do. I am not from here and back in ol'Cali we like our crust a bit thicker.
So when I find a place that offers more than the typical St. Louis thin crust pizza, I am happy girl. JJ Twigs does serve thin crust pizza, but they also have this amazing double decker beauty that fills my mouth with yumminess. Crust, sausage, green peppers, onions, cheese, crust, sausage, green peppers, onions and more cheese. It is thick and loaded with toppings.
Their crust for the record is so delicious that it really deserves to be doubled. And if you are like me and you do not like to eat your pizza bones, this place will change your mind. They leave honey on the tables, to put on the left over crust and it is a brilliant idea. We even do it at home when we get takeout.
Besides the pizza they have great and unusual apps. My BFF loves the fried pickles, but I am a fan of the Fried Cheddar Cheese Curds and the Italian Sausage Bites. I mean it is hard to beat baked Italian sausage with cheese and breadcrumbs.
I live in Kirkwood so this place is close, but I promise it is worth a drive out West.
Read great reviews so had to try. Of course went with the double decker with sausage, pepperoni, green peppers, tomatoes and started with wings. The wings sucked but then I'm picky and haven't really found much in the way of good stl wings. However the pizza was great! Another great alternative for pizza lovers. When I want thin stl...its imos for me. Classic crust... deweys. And now when I just want a heavy delicious slice of meat cheese veggie goodness... jj twiggs. We went back within a 2 weeks to have another.
Review Source:You can not go wrong with the Double Decker pizza. Try putting honey on the crust, tasty! Â I have only been to the O'Fallon location and have always had decent service, nothing outstanding. Â The buffalo chicken dip is very good and the small house salad is a pretty large portion. Â The ingredients taste fresh. Â
Just a heads up if you have very small children, the blower in the bathroom is SUPER loud and scarred the crap out of my 4 month old while changing her diaper.
If you've never had double decker pizza, your in for a treat.  It wasn't too busy  for a Sunday evening and we were seated quickly.  They have happy hour specials daily and a rotating special drink each day of the week for just $5. Â
We started with the JJ Twig's Special Chopped Salad, for a $9 salad it was huge...enough for 4 people to share. Â It was an okay salad. Â It seemed like it was a whole bunch of random things thrown together in a bowl. Â Who would think to put three different kinds of meat plus a little pasta in a salad? Â There was chicken, bacon AND pepperoni. Â Luckily, there was only one kind of cheese, bleu cheese. Â The dressing wasn't anything special. Â Overall the salad did the job and curbed our hunger while we waited for the pizza.
The pizza was ready by the time we were full of salad, less than 20 minutes. Â We had a 14" Double Decker JJ Twig's Special: sausage, mushroom, onion and green pepper. Â The Double Decker was basically 2 thin crust pizzas stacked on top of each other. Â The bottom pizza's crust is nicely crisp and top with meat and cheese. Â The top pizza's crust was cooked (not doughy) but not crisp and topped with all the meat and cheese again. Â The pizza sauce is fairly mild, but the sausage helps spice it up to where I like it. Â
Better than expected for a strip mall pizza shop and well worth the drive out West.
You must try the Double Decker pizza.
I have only even heard of double decker pizzas in one other place in another state, so I was so happy to find out there was a place here in St. Louis that actually had it, and it tasted awesome.
The taste of the dough and the toppings even reminds me of legendary Giordano's in Chicago. Â Mind you, they are two completely different types of pizza, but the flavor and quality is there.
J.J. Twigs has the best double decker pizza! I have never had a bad combination of toppings there.
The only complaint I have is that there are many times where the service is not the greatest. There have been a few occassions where it has taken longer than usual to be seated or to ever have acknowledgment that my group or I was present in the restaurant. But the food is so good, it's still worthwhile to eat there!
The double decker pizza was divine! Â It's like a deep dish pizza but with a thin crust. Â The crust was quite good! Â The toppings was delish & quite fresh! Â Service was fast & quite good! Â Wait time was a bit short even though the line was long. Â But, hey that's what you get for going on a Saturday night. Â Sadly, the bf & I had a bit of a trouble with gas afterwards. Â But, it was all worth it.
Review Source:JJ, the roof of my mouth hates you. The pizza was so hot, so fresh, so good, I couldn't help myself. I had to try out this double decker pizza, I have never heard of this, basically two thin pizza on top of each other with a crisp breadstick for crust.
Unfortunately it burned the crap out of my mouth and I was suffering for days.
Was it worth it? Some say it was so.
This is up there with some of the best pizza in the Saint Louis area. Â This is not the traditional St. Louis style pizza. Â Very good pan pizza the Double Decker is delicious. Â They have a full menu with other items as well. Â
This is kind of out there if you live in the city. Â But it is probably number two on my favorite St. Louis pizza joints.
As you can see, almost everyone enjoys JJ Twig's. But what not everyone might know, is that pizza isn't the only good thing on the menu. Thier chicken strips are so fresh-tasting. I eat mine with cheese sauce. People think it's gross, but I think it's delicious. Everything there is great. I would certainly recommend it.
Review Source:LOVE IT! I have loved everything I have ever had here. Anytime my work has a lunch party- we always go here. Be prepared to leave extremely full... that would probably be my only gripe. The buffalo chicken dip is AMAZING! It's served with fritos (the taste outweighs the calories) and you have to be careful because they may fill you up before dinner. I love the garlic chicken pizza... the double decker is a-maz-ing.
The restaurant is clean and the staff is very friendly and they are always out to please, which is great. One time we were brought the wrong pizza- and not only did they not charge us for it- they let us take it home in a to-go box. :) The presentation is casual and fun, which can be very refreshing.
LOVE IT.
This is some of the best pizza in St. Louis!
You have to try The Double Decker, though I must warn you it IS a diet breaker! I've no clue of the calorie content, but each piece of a large double decker has to be at least 400 - 500 calories if i were to guess. If one were to eat this pizza daily, lets just say that your waist line will um....expand.
Their original pizza is awesome too, but all in all I really like The Double Decker. It's unlike any pizza I've had in St. Louis and in fact, it's all I order when I am there since it's so good. As an aficionado of left over pizza, I have to say that this pizza is also excellent cold the next day.
Supposedly their other menu items are good too but I wouldn't know since as I've already stated I only get The Double Decker.
This pizza really is a blessing in such a pizza wasteland as St. Louis...
Went there last night and LOVED it! The service was great (except when it came time to pay- that was a little slow) and the draft beer selection os pretty good. We had a pitcher of Blue Moon and a double decker black olive pizza and two dinner salads. The dinner salads were pretty good sized and delicious, the house dressing being a ranch/Italian mix. Also, they are the first place I have been to where they put the salad in an oversized bowl- that was awesome! I hate when places put their salads on plates that are the exact size of the salad so it spills onto the table. That's annoying. Also, they have very tasty fresh made croutons.
The pizza was really good, had a nice chewy mozzarella and a good crust.
In the incredibly annoying words of Rachael Ray, "Yummo!" and "Deelish!"
We will definitely be back.
quite possibly the best pizza I've had in St. Louis. With so many pizza places using provel..it's hard to find good pizza. J.J. Twigs accomplishes that. Â Dont miss the double decker and especially the JJ Twigs specialty.
There salads arent half bad either and the caesar goes perfect with the pizza.
Pizza is a big deal is STL, as you may have noticed from the sheer volume of pizza entries on yelp. While I'm a big fan of pizza (a huge one, in fact) I'm not a big fan of JJ Twig's Pizza- especially not their specialty pizza- the double decker. I like thin crust pizza but I'm not a big fan of two thin crust pizzas piled one on top of the other; it's messy and just too difficult to eat. The single layer thin crust here is fine, good in fact, but I've had better and so have you.
Review Source:This double decker pizza competes for some of the best in STL! JJ Twig's has a great bar/restaurant atmosphere. It's a pretty small place and I think they will have to expand or move soon. Nice little bar area and slightly larger dining room. Okay back to the pizza. The crust is very light and obviously hand-made. Â I would love to see them do a Chicago-style pizza. The double-decker is more NY style but with 2 layers.
I highly, highly recommend this place.
The crust on the pizza here is wonderful, unlike any other pizza I have had. Â The decor is dark wood and booths, with sports on numerous flat screens around the place. Â Very comfortable feel to the place. There are other jj twig's, all up in the Chicago suburbs, but the pizza is not a Chicago style deep dish. Â jj twig's offer single crust and their specialty: double crust.
