Fandango's Sports Bar and Grill

Fandango's has become a weekly staple for me prior to bowling at the Brunswick Zone Lake Side Lanes, right down the street.  But it took several trips and tries at the menu before I came to appreciate the food.

The happy hour pricing on appetizers is great.  At one time, they used to offer half-price wings and the place was packed, but the economy being what the economy is they discontinued that practice and the wings are no longer half-priced during happy hour.  Either way, the wings are good and worth a try.

The star of their menu though is the rib eye sandwich and the fish sandwich.  Both sandwiches are some of the best you can get at any bar in St. Louis.  Combine them with the homemade seasoned chips and they have become a weekly favorite.

The atmosphere, like many have said, is a mix of young and old and it truly is a place for the smoker (although they now have a no-smoking room, which truly is a separate room).  The service, like most places, depends upon the waitress you get.  On Mondays it is like walking into Cheers as we don't even really have to order, our waitress knows what we want to eat / drink and the service is always good.  I have been there other times, and the service hasn't been as great.

All in all, a good bar and grill to check out.

Upon research of West County entertainment on a Saturday night, we were directed to Fandango's - and were disappointed.

The website clearly stated that the bands started at 9 and went til 1 am.  I called to check about a cover charge and was told that they never charged a cover.  We decided to check it out.  We got there and a bodyguard of some type was standing guard, said hello but did not direct us to anywhere else.  We saw the band setting up (we had arrived about 10) and walked around and found a bar table near the band stage.  We waited about 20 minutes and still no band started to play and no waitress had come to our table.  We called it a night early and left due to our disappointment.

We may check this out another time but we know that we'll have to eat dinner there in order to get a "good" table and have a place to sit for the band.  Then maybe it will be enjoyable.

This place is not as smoky as other reviewers describe it to be. If you have been in an environment where smoking was allowed, it is really not that bad. Yeah, it would be nice if the whole place was non smoking, but its tolerable.

The service was great, food excellent, and blue moon on draft! Also loved the pool tables and dart boards. True, there's an older crowd. (This and smoking being allowed are the reasons why I gave it 4 stars). All in all, it was a nice place for a small get together for 6 college students.
