I've been coming here for several months to play trivia on Thursday nights. A few months ago they went through a change of management and I have not been happy with many of the changes they made, i.e., taking away certain drink specials on Thursdays, removing unique items from their menu and replacing them with standard menu items, etc.
However last night I tried to redeem a $10 gift certificate and was told it expired. I obtained the certificate on March 28th, so as of last night it wasn't even a month old. This is highly illegal. On March 23, 2010, the Federal Board Reserve released the following statement:
"The final rules prohibit dormancy, inactivity, and service fees on gift cards unless: (1) the consumer has not used the certificate or card for at least one year; (2) no more than one such fee is charged per month; and (3) the consumer is given clear and conspicuous disclosures about the fees. Expiration dates for funds underlying gift cards must be at least five years after the date of issuance, or five years after the date when funds were last loaded."
When the poor waitress came back to my table to tell me this, I asked her to ask the manager to reconsider, meaning the manager had a chance to correct this illegal action. The response? They would honor no more than half the value of the gift certificate. Completely and totally unacceptable. The management is obviously either ignorant of federal law (doubtful) or is convinced their patrons are either stupid or unwilling to stand up on principle.
This is a place that does everything  just ok, nothing great and nothing horrible. When I am in ATL on business we stay at the hotel attached to this ghost-town mall.   There are few choices to eat, weird Mongolian BBQ place, cheap pizza or the over priced, sub-par food in the hotel.
We end up here generally a few times a year, this place gets you a beer quickly, serves a so-so pulled pork sandwich, decent but not really BBQ Ribs, decent wings, average burgers and poorly executed salads. Â Stick with burgers! Â
Avoid the sweet potato tater tots, they are horrible balls of over processed goo, deep fried stale old oil and rolled in sugar, the worst thing I have ever here. Â been served here. Â
Plenty of TV's and i does get loud, but that's not a bad thing in Sports Bar.
They haven't reinvented the sports bar or moved far from the menu at Denny's but it'll do when you are hungry and need a frosty cold beverage.
I love this Jocks N Jills location. Â The beauty of it is - that no one knows that it is here. Â It is tucked away here. Â I'm glad to come here whenever my Yankees group meets up for the games or the NCAA tournament. Â The drinks are very good. The food menu is good. Â A big fan of their fish and chips (their special from time to time). Â Awesome reuben's, good burgers. Â Some of the TV's are nice but outdated but I think it has a Michigan State following #random. Â Nutshell - food was fine, service was fine, Â never overcrowded, non-smoking = happy camper!
Grade: B
This place is filled with TVs. We came here for March Madness and they had every game on in a location where you could see it. There was no where in the place where you could not see every game.
The food was pretty good and we got a good amount of fries. I ordered the Reuben and was not disappointed. I like the way they have thin crispy fries. The food is good for its price. Great spot to watch a sporting event.
We've lived about 10 minutes away from this location for almost 2 years, and just tried it for the first time. Had company from out of town, so we wanted to take her to Big Chow Grill. So, we headed there, got to BCG, and was told there was a 30 minute wait, so we took a coaster, and walked around the ghost-town mall known as the Galleria. We spotted the Jock & Jill's, and having never even seen what their menu was, stopped in to look over a menu. Our company said we should try that, so the coaster to BCG was returned, and a booth at J&J was obtained.
Started off with some wings and a Rosarito margarita, which was problem the weakest, most watered down margarita I've had. Tasted just like a watered down Minute Maid Limeade. Was practically clear. But, for $4, I don't know what I was expecting. The wings, Chipotle BBQ were good, just not very spicy.
My wife got the boneless wings, which she said were average. Our friend got an order of the buffalo wings, which she said were average. I ordered the Mushroom Swiss Burger, medium well, no onions, as I'm allergic. It came out, smelled rather good, I'd say. Ate about half of it, and noticed it was really tender meat. Took a look at it, and given that it was more dimly lit inside, didn't really notice the color till I cut it open, instantly noticing the total bright pink of the meat. Well, me and raw meat don't get along, so, it was sent back. About 10 minutes later, the half slightly more cooked burger was back, this time with onions on it, which again, pose a problem as I'm allergic and had specified it. I was told the cooks don't speak English, so it's easy to see why there was a problem.
So, it was sent back again, and I was told I'd be getting a whole new burger, which at that point, was past overkill. I wasn't really even that hungry, and my wife and friend had been done for quite some time. But, shortly, a new burger was brought out. I cut into it, to check for everything, everything looked fine. Then, I put it to my mouth, and the smelly of dirty dish rags hit my nose. A pungent, stinky smell that made the whole thing unedible, and made me sick to my stomach, actually. So, I gave up, and it was sent back, alas, I wasn't even hungry anymore.
The server, Autumn, was very nice, friendly and understanding. She told us a little about herself, that she'd only been there 3 months, and that she had recently moved here from Pittsburgh. Very nice gal, but she couldn't overcome the cooks in the back. And sadly, that's the reason I won't be back. Typical sports bar food menu, poorly executed, that's what I got. Next time, I'll be sure to wait for Big Chow Grill.
(And I needed to add, this morning (4:30am) I was awoken to some of the worst stomach cramps I've had in a long time, and spent the next while, guess where.... The meal that bit back.)
The best part of this place is the service! Â Elliott was a fantastic waiter. Â He made great recommendations, kept our glasses full, and added some fun and humor to our meal. Â We could definitely go back. Â It's a perfect place to watch a game and enjoy some great food...even better if you can ask for Elliott!
Review Source:I wouldn't even come here if it weren't for events/meetings/trade shows at the Cobb Galleria Centre... and in all reality, if this weren't the only place in the building (other than the catering bars) that served alcohol I wouldn't even consider stepping inside. I *heart* vendors with expense accounts.
Come here on a normal day and it's dead. It's packed when they have stuff going on upstairs. I think they have trivia some nights.
Drinks are good. The food is mediocre. The service is all right. Overall, nothing outstanding, but not awful.
This was a great spot to hit after picking up a friend from the airport.  Be sure to ask for ''King'' the waiter for GREAT service and patience! He was cool enough to chit-chat with us a bit and even waited with a good natured  gleam in his eye while we cracked up to order (old friends that don't get to see each other much).
My husband knows good wings when he has them and he quotes these wings were ''Awesome'', and a good hot spot to chill for the fellas during an event, I'm sure. I myself had the ribs and fries which were a nice combination of saltiness and juicy meat, made pretty close to perfection! Â
I'll be sure to recommend this place to anyone that asks about it or when I'm in that area, sure! There are plenty of TVs to see wherever you sit, nice side bar, a cool balcony upstairs, and a nice place to eat outside.
Worth all the stars for great service, good food, and a good clean environment.
An alumni event that started off with a warm reception rapidly degraded into an evening of frustrating delays and lackluster service. Â The food was fine. Â Getting to watch our alma mater's sports program via satellite was very cool. Â Our server changed mid-shift and we did not see the new server for almost 30 min (I had to ask three people when we might see the new server). Â Drink and food orders were not filled with any attention to timeliness. Â Again, the food itself was fine (kudos to the kitchen), but the nachos were cold when they got to the table. Â No one was given a napkin/ silverware setup until the meal was almost done (and we had to ask for them). Â
I am grateful that we got to watch our game. Â Individual contact with staff was always pleasant. Â But I had the distinct impression that our small gathering just wasn't that important to them.
Typical bar food...stick to wings and things...I had a salad and chicken quesadilla, and wish I had just ordered wings.
Besides that...GREAT SPOT. Â Every seat in the house has a clear view of a flat screen. Â Popped in here during the playoff game and was able to get a seat at the bar. Â One of the bartenders created a greenbay shooter (midori float on top of something yellow) for a nearby fan...fun!!
10 points to Jill who asks and then greets EVERY CUSTOMER, including me, by name. Â wow. Â Little personal touches go so far these days.
Cheap prices, good vibe. Â I highly recommend it.
Any bar that has this many screens AND broadcasts obscure college hockey games for superfans like myself, so it gets an extra star above "Meh". Â I had a HUGE sandwich- california club with a pound of fries, that I ate entirely, just because I was there to watch 2 hockey games. Â Otherwise, this place is a Fridays/Bennigans-type place but with TVs, with your standard fried foods and burger toppings for salads. I was one of the few females there, other than waitstaff, for a good hour. Â But I will come back- why? Â Amongst all those guys, I won the sports trivia game and was awarded a Jock N Jills gift card.
Review Source:I am not sure why they moved from their location on 10th, but it probably was one of the worst business decisions known to mankind. Â While it makes sense that the Galleria would be a huge attraction in Smyrna/Atlanta/whatever you want to call the "no mans land" of the Cumberland Mall area, it just isnt. Â The Galleria is like the forgotten distant cousin that you only remember when you get that rare Christmas card from them, and that Christmas card actually reminds you about how unmemorable they actually are....yikes...hope you kept up with that.
Went to Jocks once following the guidance of friends who met there everyday after work. Hmmm....lets see. Â 10pm and a sports bar is EMPTY, aside from the 4 regulars/losers that probably eat there every night and consider this place a "home away from home".
The drinks here are actually on the cheap, and if I lived closer, and wanted a bar all to my lonesome, I would probably be a regular too. Â
However, I dont. Â I like to be around people most of the time. Â
I cant really comment to much on the food. Â All I did was have a few really cheap beers. Â Who am I to complain, 4 beers and 5 bucks later, I was feeling pretty damn good.
Great for the drinks, people? Ehhh not so much.
I've been here a number of times, mostly for viewing a game with a group of fellow alums, and it has always been very good as a sports bar as well as for food. Â It always helps when my team wins, so Saturday evening's experience was a success, Cal 52 Maryland 13. Â I had a chicken fajita wrap, which was good. Â Service was fine, no pressure to order a lot if you're there for several hours to watch a game. Â The criticisms I have are that veggie burgers seem to be off the menu, so there aren't a lot of vegetarian options; and there are only a couple of audio feeds, so if our game is not one of the primary games, you don't get audio. Â Go Bears!
Review Source:Awesome place to hang out. Â We made it there for trivia night which was quite a blast. Â
The food is great sandwich style bar fare. Â Drinks aren't overpriced and there are seemingly unlimited HD TVs.
One gripe (and I know this is about the trivia company rather than the bar itself), we had a trivia question which was essentially "What is the highest airport in Colorado?". Â Now a pilot who lives in Colorado instantly would know that the answer is a tiny little airport at Leadville, located at almost 10k feet. Â However, the trivia researcher's Wikipedia level analysis thought the answer was Telluride at 9k feet.
Okay that's more of a personal gripe, but I take trivia pretty seriously.
Jocks N Jills is a sweet sports bar experience - check them out.
I have been going to Jock's before it moved to Galleria (from Smyrna) and it has been getting slower and slower there. Â It is a shame because it is such a nice bar. Â Very spread out, a small patio, nice new tv's that can be seen from everywhere. Â I have not been back for a while until last Monday, and it was disappointing at best. Â I was with a party of 5, and there was sports trivia (which was fun btw). Â Only 4 teams playing though was kinda lame. Â We ordered food and it took exactly 32 minutes for the food to arrive. Â The excuse was there was a party of 10 in the other room. Â I work in the business, and 15 orders is not busy. Â The food was good and I had no issues with it, Â just the slow service really was a turn-off considering there was nobody in the place. Â I felt kinda bad because it used to be an amazing place with a great vibe, fun servers and amazing staff. Â It just seems like it may not be around for much longer.
Review Source:Decent food, covered parking, and poker double-games twice a week (Tuesday evening & Saturday afternoon) make this place a winner in my book.
If you like to drink crappy beer, Miller Lite and MGD drafts are $1.25 all day every day. They have better beers on tap though they aren't quite as reasonably priced.
There are a lot of TVs spread out all over so you can catch the games you want. I don't think I'd come here just for dinner by itself, but I do enjoy the Saturday afternoon poker game, so I'll keep returning.
File this one under "indifferent". I don't hate it, I didn't love it. I've been to other Jocks N Jills and this one is the same, except there's lots of Big 10 Network watchers at this particular location.
They have really big tvs, they have decent food, the service is ehhhh.
If you're a Big 10 fan, go here. They have all the games you can't seen on regular cable channels. Bonus: If you're a Michigan State fan, the Atlanta alumni club meets here.
$3 10oz Martini's all day Wednesday, need I say more? A full menu of nice, filled to the brim drinks with all the garnishes, not the dinky 7oz ones. The choices range from classic Cosmos and Apple to Mardi Gras and Cherry Kiss. Also with a $5 purchase you get can get an appetizer for $3.50. Â Shots of Jager are $3 for those the Fletchers Castoria type and Miller beers are $2 or $3. My fav after work hang out!
