I had my Birthday Party at Joy Karaoke and it was great. Friendly staff, Nice clean Rooms... Can't wait to go back

This place is a joke.  Come to get third hand smoke and immerse yourself in a ghetto environment with rundown decor.  No wonder they serve alcohol because you need to drink yourself to a stupor to enjoy this place - but wait, I can do that with any place.

Basically the only thing that makes this place bearable is the fact you can smoke, but that's also what makes it suck.

Love this place. Service is really nice here! The system and everything I believe is in Korean, which is where I had a hard to learning how to work it. The workers were really patient with me and my friends and followed us through everything. We stayed from 9pm-2am on a Saturday night, and had the same guy waiting on us hand and foot. There's security walking around the hallways making sure everyone is fine, since there were smokers and drinkers everywhere and acting up all night (which was funny). Food and alcohol looked a bit overpriced, but whatever.. what's a party without alcohol!! Anyway, a large selection of songs in English, Korean, and maybe other languages as well. Very nice and quaint place, definitely be coming back :)

Hands down the best KTV (Karaoke in private rooms) East of the 605 fwy.  Don't go for the decor or ambiance, but for the cheap alcohol and some damn good drinking food.  The Korean style buffalo wings, seasoned french fries and spicy stir-fried pork are the perfect accompaniment for their wide selection of beers and Soju, which is a Korean rice wine that's similar to cold Sake.

The service is great.  When you're low on alcohol, simply push a button from the comfort of your private room and their attentive waitresses will keep the libations flowing and the partying going.

Although they still have old style song books for choosing tunes, the selection of both English and Asian songs to choose from is pretty great.  Anything from Sinatra to Bruno Mars, they've got it.  Wanna impersonate a Korean one-hit wonder and do the horse dance?  They've got "Gangnam Style" for you, too!

So if you're East of the 605 and don't feel like a far trek for an alcohol fueled good time, checkout Joy Karaoke.  Ask for the owner Wen and he might even hook you up with a free pitcher of beer or bottle of Soju.

This is my favorite karaoke place. They have a very weird mix of songs. Songs you always wanted to sing but other karaokes didn't have. Well, this place happens to have "those" songs that you really like. Place smells like smoke but hey, who doesn't smoke when they drink right? Just kidding. The white lady here is like my second mom. We speak to each other in Korean all the time. Yes, she is fluent. This place carry songs in English, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, etc. This place can get quite steamy, literally! Synchronize your heart and your voice!

This is pretty much the only KTV karaoke place you can drink at in Rowland. It's worth it for Happy Hour, which I believe is 2pm-8pm and it's $12/person.

They have flavored soju, various beer, as well as bottled soju. The prices are pretty steep actually for alcohol: flavored soju is $18 I believe and beer is by the pitcher, depending on what brand of beer. I apologize I don't remember the prices for beer but the bottled soju is about $10 or $12.

The TV, couches rooms are a bit old looking and not high tech like music box. They actually have books full of songs here, but you can search it through the music system they have there. The quality is alright not too bad but you can't adjust the sound of the mic yourself, you have to call over an attendant and have them do it for you because their control is in a box very high off the ground.

They do let you smoke in the room, which is a plus if you're a smoker but of course that leads to rooms with oldish looking carpet and smoke smell. They have dice for people that know what I'm talking about haha to play which is a bonus i think. And they always provide you with free water and bowl of pretzels to munch on.

All in all, I do always have fun going to Joy but my buzz is greatly diminished when the check comes -_- haha but other than that there's no other drinking KTV place in Rowland area so me and my friends still come to Joy.

It's cleaner than your average Korean noraebang joint in K-town. The sound system is okay, though irks me that you can't adjust the sound of the mic on your own (need to call someone to climb on a ladder and adjust for you). There really weren't enough snacks (OVERPRICED) and drinks aside from alcohol. Song selection was okay, but organized rather haphazardly and it took us a while to choose songs. If you want to sing in Chinese, you need to switch the whole system over so the non-Chinese singers get to take a nap.

The temperature is always either too hot or too cold, and I remember we tried to order a very expensive fruit plate ($25), but they said there was none even though it was on the menu.

I guess I've been spoiled by Taiwanese karaoke joints such as Musicbox, Cashbox, and even Plush so this place is really not my style.

Pretty average karaoke place. (Or norebang). They seem to always have tables/rooms available although the cook was out and they ran out of a majority of supplies when I went. They cut me some slack on the price due to this but still, how do you stay in business? Great friendly staff though, as long as they stay in stock it should be alright. I still like Good Times soju a little better but the prices here are reasonable/average.

Two bathroom stalls. Yes, I Yelp about it cause I think bars should have more than two if they get super busy! Not to worry here, I always come when it isn't busy. Never had to wait in line for the bathroom!

When did they start carding all of a sudden?!

I've been here a couple times prior to today and everything always goes as planned. There isn't much "service" here per say. They only take you to the room and bring you alcohol if you order it but that's about it. I wouldn't want them interrupting our jamming sesh anyways. We ordered 2 yogurt soju's (peach & strawberry). LOVE the strawberry one. The prices are a little steep - $18 per pitcher but hey at least its good! There are some pretty new songs that we chose and serenaded each other to. Good vibes. Had no trouble paying for the bill with some cash and some credit cards. Staff was friendly when we needed something.

the flavored soju! --def a must for karaoke. (pineapple, strawberry, and peach)
good for big groups. wide selection of songs, Asian and American.
the song books are kind of unorganized tbh.. it's by name instead of artist.

This might be the best karaoke place I've been to.  Very roomy..they've got many rooms and the sound system makes me sound professional.  Not too echo-y, but clear and crisp.  No sound issues here.  All wireless microphones.  You can order drinks, food, and there are rooms that feel like a little cafe.

Each room seems to have both a Korean machine and a Chinese machine.  It's best to stick to one machine as each machine has their own list and separate queues.

Interior is low-lit with cool, blue neon-lighting.  It's on the second floor, right above a crab restaurant.  I came here with a group of 15 or so after dinner.  We sang to our heart's content from 9:30pm till 1am.  Not sure if some people who left earlier paid more, but by the end, all of us wound up paying about $15.

I sang "Gangnam Style" because with a mixed group of people that I was with, it was the one Korean song EVERYONE knew.  As of this writing, that song has charted #1 on Itune music sold.

    Ehhhh Sexy Lady~

I have been a regular here since well, since they didn't card you and check your bags before they let you in. You have to be 21+ to get in during nighttime.

Their machine is a bit weird. You either get to only sing English&Korean or only Chinese so choose wisely... just kidding. You ask them to change the system but it gets annoying. Well, I only know English songs anyways so it doesn't phase me.

I see a lot of complaints about the lack of new songs. Here's the secret: Open the Korean song book and begin examining the left pages. You will see "Pop Songs". There you shall find what you're looking for. Or most of it.

They serve beer, soju, & pretty bombass food. Sing your little heart out or what's left of it. The lady that works here, Rose, really helps with that. She's really nice & speaks perfect English & Korean even though she's Caucasian. She hooks you up with free time if you get to know her.

Yes. Yes. Indoor smoking might get the best of you here but it was really no bother to me. Compared to other places that allow you to smoke indoors, this place is a gem.

Happy hour is awesome here!!!! From 2-7pm and only 12 each person! We sang our hearts out...and made fools out of ourselves. Oh and the price includes one free drinks, soda or a bottle of water.

Another typical asian karaoke place that serves food and has lots of asian songs, a pretty decent collection of English songs, and hilarious music videos that sometimes I just can't stop watching as it doesn't go along with the song at all. They serve a wide variety of food including ramen! Kinda weird but whatever.

The place was pretty clean and looked pretty decently new. The sound system was okay...we couldn't use both mics at the same time actually because of the feedback. Service wasn't super great, we kept having to ask for things multiple times and near the end we stopped bothering. They never did fix our mics so we could use 2 at a time. Even having only one mic at a time you could hear the whine sometimes.

As for the songs, they had 3 different books of songs! Lotsa korean songs in 2 books, one for chinese and older english songs. But if you look in the korean books, you can find a smattering of new English songs! We sang the typical Journey and love ballads, then some new stuff also. We forced our boy cousin to sing Barbie Girl and then tried to get someone else to sing Single Ladies by Beyonce.

Good fun, and at such a cheap price it was pretty worth it. The rooms could have been set up better in terms of sound quality but oh well, we still had lotsa fun and stayed there for 4 hours. So cheap karaoke without having to run into drunk people all the time? Yeah!

I've been to this karaoke place several of times, and it's a nice place to hang out with some friends, sing, and drink. If you're planning to have a birthday party or a celebration here, just give them a call in the beginning of the week and you will be able to book a room.

Rooms: Slightly decorated, nothing special, nothing bad. Each room is equipped with a nice flat-screen TV, and the sounds from the speakers are perfect. I've been in their biggest room and it actually has a dance floor! The biggest room has booth sitting all around the room and a dance floor right in the middle, this room might fit up to 50 people! Their other rooms are decent sized, depending on which one you get, but most of them would fit 10-15 people easily.

Songs: Songs selection isn't that great, I went recently (12/3/11) and they had the same "NEW" songs from April. They have a good variety of English songs, but again, not a lot of new ones and also missing a lot of old ones.

Service: Their service is great, whenever you need something (e.g. search for a song, speakers are too low/loud) you could just walk out and ask them for help. They are also very quick with the beer and soju.

Alcohol: They have a variety of beers on tap such as Heiniken, Blue Moon, New Castle, and Miller Light, and they also have bottled beer such as Corona. The price for the pitchers are very reasonable, and they had "beer of the month" before, but I guess they changed it to weekdays only. The "beer of the month" was only $10.00 a pitcher! What a steal! When my friends and I went there, it was New Castle, and it was during a weekend! We got WASTED. :)

Restrooms/Parking/Security: They have small restrooms, two stalls for the guys, and the actual "stall" is blocked by a cloth, not a door. When people get wasted (probably happens every night), their restrooms would be overflown and out of order. There are plenty of parking, because the karaoke bar is located in a big plaza. There were two securities when we went, one down stairs checking I.D., and one upstairs holding it down for the block

Overall, this place is a good place for friends, or maybe someone who likes to karaoke and drink alone. The only reason why they got 3 stars is the lack of new songs and small restrooms.

I came here for my birthday celebration extravaganza with a party of approximately 20 people. We had a blaaaast. I called earlier in the day as recommended by other yelpers to ensure we had a room large enough to accommodate my party.  All of the employees were very friendly and helpful.  We were placed in a rather large room that could have easily accommodated a party of 30+.  The room was $65/hour, however since we spent more than $150 on alcohol and food, the room was free. woot!

There was a large selection of Korean karaoke songs, uhmm...we didn't sing any of those :)
The English selection was pretty decent as well.  We found all of the songs we were looking for except Love is a Battlefield. boohoo :(
My favorite part of the room were the 2 light/smog/fog/disco machines that you could put a couple bucks in for an hour or so of fun!

I also liked the fact that they serve you alcohol and food inside the room! We had many, many pitchers of beer and many, many carafes of the Yojusoju (sweet, flavored soju)!!!!
Someone in my party ordered the ramen and it was pretty darn tasty.

My friends and I are definitely coming back here.  i definitely recommend coming with a bigger party as it will lighten the load of the check for the room.

I heart this place dearly. It's always a fun time!

The people that work here are pretty chill.

I would recommend being careful of what you order though because it adds up quickly.

This have this raspberry wine that I heart dearly as well.

Great kareoke place! Clean, speedy service, lots of English songs (Top 40s and recent ones too!), and of course YOGUSOJU!! They have different flavors of Yogusoju too!!! My favorite is Peach :)

They have different size rooms and can accommodate different parties. We got the biggest room with 20 people. Never had a bad night here!

Joy Karaoke, a place where people come to get lung cancer...

As a nonsmoker this place is just NOT for me. I didn't know they allowed smoking indoors...after an hour or two there was this haze settling in our room. And if it smoking isn't allowed indoors then it's obviously not regulated.

If inhaling carcinogens doesn't bother you then this place isn't too bad.

    PROS:
-The rooms are huge (we were in VIP 2) at the very end of the hallway. The Party room next to ours was probably the largest room and can easily accommodate 30 or 40.

-They provide water and pretzels in the room.

-There is a menu featuring beers, soju (flavored as well) and various snacks.

    CONS:

    -Smoking indoors

-Poor selection of American songs. They are pretty behind on current songs from the radio. I've been to other Karaoke places that have more updated lists.

-Gets crowded, you have to make reservations for a room.

-They have a light/fog machine but you have to pay for it. Well, our machine wasn't working.

Overall, my poor lungs couldn't handle it but perhaps yours can.

Great noraebang! Reminds me of the ones in Korea.
Happy hour from 2-7 for a flat fee per person and a free drink (different flavored sojus to choose from...delicious!).

One of the best song selections in the US I've ever seen. They have songs released from like the past month!

Tambourines available...sound system is pretty good...they have Chinese songs too but you have to switch systems to get to it. It didn't work for us when we wanted to, but it's ok.

The video backgrounds are hilarious and have nothing to do with the songs (if you're singing American songs at least). You also get a score at the end of the song that rates your singing...it's usually pretty harsh and the machine laughs at you. ;)

We need some of these types of noraebangs in norcal!

It was one of the better karaoke places Ive been to in la so far

Korean Karaoke joint. Upstairs in the same plaza as Joy Massage, don't get them confused.

Parking: Plenty in plaza and free
Typical Karaoke joint with a huge book of American and Asian Songs. You got your fruits, sake and beer here. Do don't expect some luxury karaoke decor and such. This place is made to get spilled on and krunked on haha

This place looks like its half Karaoke and half mini restaurant? They have a huge room if you  have a big party, with a dance floor. Cool light/fog machine cost per hour =/

Overall its cheap when you go with a group of friends.

    I LOVE this Karaoke place!

Best thing about this place: The workers & securities are SO nice. They are all so chill and one of the workers is a blonde lady, who speaks Korean. She's so funny and nice.

We always go in big groups (10+ people) and we always end up having a great night. One time, we got to go in the huge room at the end of the hall because all the regular-sized rooms were full. It was so spacious and everyone had so much fun drinking, singing, and dancing around the room. They always update their Karaoke machine with recent songs- Korean, Chinese, American, etc. There's not that many American songs, but there's enough for people to sing.

Yes, the pricing is a little more expensive than the karaokes in Koreatown though. Even in big groups, each person ends up paying $20~$40. The yogurt soju is delicious there. We also tried strawberry & peach soju. They have a menu with a variety of Korean food. Oh, & they always give us pretzels!

Another thing I like about this place: You don't HAVE to go into a karaoke room because they have tables next to the front desk where you can just drink and hang out with friends. My friends and I always go to this place to celebrate birthdays. I feel bad because we always end up making a big mess, but all the workers are really nice about it. They even gave us 3 free plates of french fries at the end!

Make sure to always call and reserve rooms/tables on weekends because they get booked fast. Definitely recommend Joy Karaoke :)

A little expensive in comparison to Ktown NRB but what can you do when you're half an hour away?

The staff here is really great. If you come around enough, they remember you and hook it up every now and then. There is also a very pretty Brazilian woman who speaks Korean! I'm not sure what her name is but seeing her speak Korean is quite impressive, haha.

I celebrated my 21st birthday here and they were MORE THAN accommodating. Super clean, very efficient service. Would sing again A+

The poeple here are super nice and they've got an awesome rate for happy hour, which was what I came for. Came on a weekday, and it was $13 flat rate per person (including tax and tip and everything) for singing unlimited btwn 3-7pm. SUCHA GOOD DEAL.

They've also got little snacks, not a wide selection of drinks, but got really delicious yogurt soju. I'm not a huge fan of their selection of songs though, because I don't like flipping through huge books for songs. I like the more high tech machines where u can select through the monitor with the remote control, sorting with singers and languages. The rooms are pretty nice, and have a really cool disco light machine for $1 for 5min of disco effects. If only they can upgrade their karaoke system, it would be a 5-star!

Well this has been the closest and the only karaoke place I go to for a year and a half now. Possibly longer. I don't know..its your typical karaoke place. I kinda like the environment of this place a lot more than round 1( have yet to try the karaoke place there).

The windows and stuff are dark and they cover it so that people can't easily just peek into your room. That is just weird no matter how I see it. I think a typical karaoke place should usually be a lot darker. So I think ill give it to Joy for that part.

I heard Round 1 karaoke is cheaper than the one at Joy though. My friends told me that they have a huge english selection of songs in Round 1 compare to Joy. Possibly because Joy has 4 different kind of category you can sing to. There is jap, eng, chinese, and kor. From what I believe round 1 has kor and eng. But all I need is english music so I plan to try round 1 soon.

Joy is pretty pricey but for a person that loves karaoke I just end up coming back. -_- still a nice place to try out. I definitely like the darker environment of this place more since I think karaoke place should be like that.

There is also a happy hour time at like 3? - 6? I think its worth to try if you live around the area.

This is my spot for private karaoke!

First off, the staff is friendly, and Rosa is my girl! She is really sweet, and seems upbeat a lot of the time.

The facility is pretty cool; obviously, it's private rooms so there is really nobody to perform for except the people you're with.

I think the best part of this place is happy hour, where it's like $12 until 8 p.m, Mon-Fri.

Song selections are pretty good, and it seems that they update pretty often. This is definitely the spot!

I'm huge fan of Karaoke but I hate how most places don't update their music. Joy Karaoke, however, have new pages inserted every week or so in the back of the book and you can just flip through and find that new main stream song from the radio to sing along to. Haven't gone in a while, but I like this place alot.

Some friends and I were driving home after a fun dinner and we simply didn't want the night to end. A lightbulb went on and I thought "Let's do karaoke!". I have a karaoke system at home and I have gone to a few karaoke places but I'm not really a karaoke lover. I get shy in front of most people. But this group of friends I was with, I felt super comfortable and felt like if they can sing in front of me, so can I. So we quickly googled for the nearest Karaoke place and this one came up.

Upon arriving we has to go upstairs and was greeted by a nice lady. For a group of 5 people it would cost $25 an hour for a private room. That's like $5 each. We only had 4 people but we still felt the price was highly reasonable. We got our own private room and got 2 books for 2008 and 2009 songs. The sound system is AMAZING. I seriously felt it helped made our voices sound slightly better. The music selection is pretty awesome too!

We only wanted to sing for one hour but we were enjoying ourselves so much we ended up stating for 2 full hours. I think we could have stayed longer but our voice was starting to give out. It's super loud and so you sing louder and your voice totally starts to drain. Bring some water or buy some to help.

They also serve snack and drinks if you like.

The room was oh so spacious. They even have a red button to call for help if you need something or have a question. It's ingenious!

I would totally come back here with the right group of friends to enjoy this with. It's a fabulous local place with really good service and awesome song selections. Who needs to drive to Ktown when you can just come here. It's great and I highly recommend coming here with a group of friends and just have some fun!!!

I would like to say I'm not a big fan of karaoke simply because my singing makes baby jesus cry; but this place is definitely one of the better, if not, the best karaoke establishments I have experienced.

    -Interior
You have to walk upstairs to get to Joy Karaoke, just look for the Fire and Ice Grill sign and you'll spot the stairwell. When you walk inside there is the front counter, a fridge with some drinks to the side, a sitting/waiting area to the left and all the rooms are to the right down a hall.

Each room has the standard equipment: comfortable couches, tables, televisions playing random video clips that have no relevance to the song selected, and microphones so you can sing to your heart's content.

If you have a larger party you can get the party room which has more seating, tables, and a small dance floor so you can get your groove on while singing.

    -Service
The workers here are very friendly and caring, I can't emphasize it more because Yelp doesn't have bold or italicize options yet. We had some technical difficulties with a microphone and they kept trying to fix it, yeah if it's broken they're suppose to fix it but the worker did it all with a genuine smile and actually cared.

If I were to go karaoke-ing again I would throw this place into the suggestion box. How caring is this place? My friend left her jacket behind and they immediately came out to bring it to us, I also left my garage door opener and came back the next day to find that they kept it instead of tossing it. Joy Karaoke is OK!

Go up the stairs located next to Fire & Ice sushi restaurant. Surprisingly large karaoke place...many rooms.  I came here on a Tuesday night for a co-worker's bday.  Needless to say, the place was pretty empty.  We had 8 people and were given the "VIP" room, which was way too large for us (half the room was empty).  The prices are a bit suspect.  They gave us a discounted rate of $50/hr (usually $65/hr or so they say).  I feel like they just charge whatever they feel like.

It was a nice room w/ 2 tvs.  They don't sell alcohol but if you really wanted to drink...plan ahead ;)  A lot of songs to chose from with different languages.  The music videos were odd...we were singing a happy love song and the video was of a girl committing suicide!?!?

I like to sing. I'm not great at it, but that doesn't stop me. What does stop me is how far K-Town is from my humble Brea abode. Its a long way to go to subject people to my rendition of Total Eclipse of the Heart.

Pros: Open LATE; Easy to sneak booze in; Large array of Chinese/Japanese/Korean songs for the international superstars out there; Large modern rooms, Cheap cost ($25/hr/room); hilarious and unrelated Asian pop videos to go along with your songs; Friendly staff, Still has all the important karaoke classics and current English songs in their collection.

If I haven't sold you on this place...you probably hate karaoke and there's nothing I can do for your sad soul...but if I HAVE...then check this place out!

I Heart Karaoke and would recommend Joy Karaoke if you don't want to drive all the way to Ktown.  I've gone to Joy Karaoke a couple times and found it very clean, non smokey, and with the recent/current songs as part of the selection.  3 important bonuses to a good karaoke place.  I've only gone on Friday nights so far and a small room runs about $25/hr and they don't force you to buy an overpriced drink per person like other places do.  The staff is also friendly and helpful.  They even bring you a plate of pretzels for free and are just a call button away if you need anything!

Just wish the songs were made available by artist in book form, rather than just the song titles in alphabetical order.  Alas, I have yet to find a place that has it by artist in a book rather than flipping thru the remote list on the screen.

Joy suites me well.  It's close, clean, smoke free and has current English songs on the radio.  Oh Joy!!!

Last night was my first ever Karaoke experience, and this place wasn't a bad place to start.  The rates aren't bad, with a group of about 9 we each ended up paying about 5 dollars per hour, although if we had been able to come during happy hour, we definitely would've gotten more than our money's worth, so next time i guess...

The music selection is really good, I was suprised that they had a Beck song (if only they had "Hotwax"!).  Plenty of Beatles, which made me happy, although they need more Bowie!  On another note, the music videos they show while your singing are so absurdly irrelevant and at times disturbing, which is a plus for me.

Karaoke is one of my loves. So when our Chinese Club at CSU Fullerton planed a karaoke night, my friend suggested this place.

After going to a reunion of sorts, I left to go karaoke. We all met up at front and went inside with half the people there. The lady took us to the rooms and set up the music list binders with us. So we reserved 2 rooms, since the biggest room would still only fit 3/4 of us and less music. Overall our experience was good. We sang for about a good 3 hours, singing Chinese, Korean, 90's and other Pop music and ending with Bohemian Rhapsody, and payed about $15 each. Pretty good deal

I would suggest this place to anybody who loves karaoke and not having to wait for rooms.

    Pros:
-Nice selection of old and new
    -Nice rooms
    -Good service
    -Rooms  were pretty spacious

    Cons:
    -Hard to find
    -No booze
