My husband received a gift certificat to KC Crave for placing in a golf tournament.  When he brought it home I doubted we'd ever use it since, 1) I thought it was a pretty stupid name - it didn't tell me anything, and 2) it was in the old CJ's and I KNEW there was no way anyone would ever get the nasty beer / oyster smell out of there.  Well, color me judgemental and sheepish!

Last Sunday, my daughter, her girlfriend and I went around 7:30 and were seated on the top floor.  I was knocked out by what the owners were able to accomplish in that really dank space.  It was intimate yet roomy, great lighting, clean lines - just a beautiful space overall.  I personally liked the music (jazzy, bluesy) and it didn't drown out conversation.  Between the three of us, we ordered the Tsunami Chips (a must do and more than enough for 4-6), the sliders, the crab wontons, the panko chicken, the Crabby Diane and the fried cinnamon cheesecake with ice cream.  The girls had two glasses of the house Cab and the total bill was just shy of $90 which I thought fair considering we had to go boxes also!

Our waiter, DaShawn, was a delight and attentive without bein suffocating.  I never felt neglected or fawned over, which is a hard balance for some waitstaff to balance.  While I hadn't bother to bring the gift certificates, I won't forget them the next visit (SOON!) and I'd be happy to go without them!

This place would have received 5 stars but there was one very annoying problem. But lets start with the food. We took my mom there for brunch to listen to live music and enjoy a nice meal. The food and drinks were fantastic! My mom had the grapefruit margarita and it was nicely balanced of sweet and bitter. I had the Bender which was a good surprisingly sweet cocktail. We ordered an appetizer of the tsunami chips. They were awesome! Next time, I'll just make a meal of those darn things! The sauce wasnt too messy, the chips held up (I expected a soggy mess towards the end but was wrong), bacon was lovely and it was a huge portion for the price. They offered two types of flatbread that were well seasoned with hummus. Omelet was huge for the price and was perfectly cooked. The french toast was gorgeous which an awesome syrup. The eggs benedict was well presented and the polenta had a wonderful texture and held up well with the sauce. Overall, you had to roll us out of the restaurant by the time we were done. The overall look of the restaurant is very cool and tons of seats with tap pulls. The top floor bar is HUGE and seems to have a ton of vaierties of whiskey and moonshine. This really looks like a fun place to hang out. Now, I did come to hear the live music. The guy that was playing was performing outside and unfortunately it is too dang hot to sit outside to listen to him. The hostess sat us so far away from him that we could barely hear him. But what I did hear, he sounded awesome. We were seated at a far upstairs table where we really couldnt see any other patrons so it made the place feel empty. We were the only table up there for almost our entire meal. But my only true complaint, where we were seated, there was section of about 8 or 9 waitstaff standing around chatting and not really doing anything. They werent cleaning or wrapping silverware or any other busy work. They were just standing there and talking to each other. It was off-putting like we were given the table in the staff breakroom. Anyhow, I will be back, but I will request to be seated in a better arean which lots and lots of tsunami chips!

Fantastic! We called ahead and reserved a 9:30p tap table. When we got there we were really impressed with the atmosphere right off the bat. It's very upscale but comfortable. Definitely get a tap table even if you don't like the beers on your tap bc the booths are oversized and super comfy and intimate. We ordered the Hawaiian ahi poke, edamame, sliders, tsunami chips and fried green tomatoes. Everything was superb! And the prices were decent- the ahi Tuna poke was around $12.50 and the sliders were around $10... They were the BEST I have ever had. Not bar food. We of course had dessert- fried cinnamon cheesecake & bourbon peach bread pudding. I am not a dessert person but it was all really great!  . They had an extensive martini list, the blueberry one is amazing and I am a whiskey drinker usually. The food menu is set up as a sharing concept so everything is big enough to share with everyone. It makes everything more intimate and enjoyable. I highly recommend going on a thurs Friday or / and sat as they have a really good jazz band. If you prefer to sit at the bar they have one downstairs and one upstairs as well. We are super excited to go back!!!

Great new addition to Gainesville! It's hard to find places like KC Crave in Gainesville where you get a nice atmosphere as well as good food. We went opening weekend which was pretty hectic but the staff was VERY attentive. It took a while for us to get our drinks because the computers went down and then the power went out for a good 15-20 min but we were offered some desserts on the house for the inconvenience. Overall, great food and excellent service. Will be back!

We went on opening night.  Great blues soundtrack playing and good music decor - including guitars on the walls.  We had the red pepper hummus appetizer and the Tsunami Chips.  The chips were great - and unlike other places, not soggy.  My friends had the Baby Back Ribs and the sliders - both winners.  I had the gorgonzola filet - bacon wrapped filet drizzled with gorgonzola - very rich, but awesome.  How can you go wrong with bacon wrapped beef!

We finished off with deep fried cheesecake - just like being at the Iowa state fair!

Overall, the bar looked like it will have a good vibe.  It's pretty spacious and had TV's for sports.  Our waitress Mikaila was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, she had tried most everything.  She steered us in the right direction and made the overall experience great.

I will be back my next trip to Gainesville!
