This review is based entirely on one visit during an open mic comedy night hosted by Ambler Music (please see their yelp profile for a separate review). Â I will admit that I am totally crushing on this awesome town known as Ambler and all it has to offer. Â
The location is great and very easy to find. Â
The decor is entertaining and eye catching without being annoying, flashy or obnoxious. Â The place is clean, too and maintained very well. Â
Service was decent -- a tad slow, but the place had drawn a pretty decent size crowd at 10 pm on a Wednesday night. Â Perhaps decent size crowd isn't an accurate description -- the place was full. Â
Because we were there so late, the only food available was anything made in the fryer. Â That was fine and it was all very yummy. Â I'm not a huge beer drinker -- mainly because of a gluten intolerance -- but the wine was good. Â
Based on this experience, I'll go back. Â I can hardly wait to see what KC's is like during a non-comedy or non-event night.
I stopped in for lunch this week. Â I had a decent time but there are a few things that need a little work. Â Let's call it attention to detail. Â
So the sign on the sidewalk said 14 beers on draft. Â Once I sat at the bar I noticed that the inside sign had a few of the beer choices missing. Â So, silly me, I asked the bartender for a beer list. Â He looked around for a while and eventually told me he couldn't find it. Â Not them, it. Â Apparently there was only one list. Â Hmmmm.
I did enjoy two IPAs. Â (Ram's Head & Evolution Lot #3) Â They were $7 and $7.50. Â That's high. Â Lots of competitors have lower prices. Â The managers should check that out.
While I was sipping my first beer I was somewhat annoyed by the assault on my ears. Â Like most places these folks have both music and TVs. Â Both were turned up full blast. Â It was just a cacophony of sound. Â I watched some other patrons ask their server to fix it. Â They seemed clueless. Â Once again; it's attention to detail.
While I was perusing the menu I was pleased to see a $6.00 Tuesday special menu. Â I ordered the Classic Bacon Cheeseburger for that price. Â It would normally have been $9. Â My meal arrived quickly and my burger was exceptional. Â It was juicy and flavorful and cooked just as I ordered. Â The fries were perfect. Â I would have elevated this simple meal to amazing except the bun was served cold. Â That's a shame. Â I hope it was a mistake. Â A patron sitting next to me made the same comment about his burger so I'm not the only one. Â It could be attention to detail once again.
Despite my criticisms, I had two delicious beers and a very good burger. Â I'll be back to check them out again. Â I hope they're listening.
