The place is now Columbia Diner
    ---------------------------

On my way to the fair, I was surprised to see the Kinderhook Diner on Route 9H was open again for business (must be new owners). I was here a little over a year ago (June 2010) for dinner and the owners at the time were shutting down the business for good a few days later. I ordered a Meat Lasagna Dinner (around $11), which was very heavy and greasy, served with bread and canned vegetables (peas & carrots). The food was very average and I decided not to Yelp it since the Kinderhook Diner would be no more.

I immediately decided I would stop in here for lunch, just to try it out again. The Kinderhook Diner (located in front of an abandoned car wash) serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This diner looks the same as before with the counter area and register in the front and the casual dining room with tables and booths to the side.

They offer quite an extensive diner menu including the "usual suspects" of breakfast dishes, sandwiches, clubs, wraps, paninis, gyros, kabobs, charbroiled beef burgers, jumbo hot dogs, salads, soups, Italian dinners, comfort foods, roasts, steaks, chops, chicken, and seafood (fried, broiled & stuffed), and desserts (cakes, puddings, pies, jello, ice cream treats). A children's (under 12) menu is served here. Entrees, platters, and most sandwiches come with sides. The prices are fair, breakfast is less than $10, most sandwiches $4.75-$8.50 and most entrees $8.95-$16.95.

The place was fairly steady around noontime with customers enjoying both breakfast and lunch. I ordered the Mexican Fajita Wrap ($7.25) served with fries, slaw & pickle,  served to my table in about 12 minutes. The fajita wrap was cut in half and presented messy, which had tender grilled chicken breast strips, peppers, onions, cheese, chipotle sauce, salsa, and rice in a flour wrap. The filling was slightly lukewarm, peppers & onions were very soft and way overcooked and the salsa was very sweet. The standard fries were served hot, deep fried golden, crisp outside and soft inside. However the cole slaw was forgotten and I reminded the waitress who returned with a small bite size cup of slaw, which was very crisp and had lots of dressing-3 bites and gone.

Overall, the food was alright, nothing to write home about, but not bad either. The service was pretty decent and the food was served in acceptable time. I would eat here again since this diner is a very convenient place to stop for a meal between Albany and Hudson and the price is right for what you get.
