Actually, I believe Hans is Austrian, not Swiss. His wife may be Cajun. I know she is an American.

Hans and his wife used to have a delicious Austrian restaurant at South Shore Harbour in League City. We mourned it when it closed and were so thrilled when we discovered he had opened King's!

If you want a chill atmosphere, with fun people around, a German beer and traditional German foods, this is your spot. I will go back, just hate its so far from me....Bratwurst!!! LOL happy eating my friends

Great German beer and music. The closest thing to Oktoberfest in Pearland.

We met up with some friends for early dinner on sat. I had heard great things but have never had the chance to try it out until now. We had an amazing time. It seems like the wait can be long but we called in ahead of time & did not have to wait too long. We were seated at the outside patio & although it was a hot day, it was not too bad as they have fans blowing & there was a nice breeze - we were still comfortable. The service is excellent & the food is fantastic - I was pleased with everything that we ordered & we ordered alot of food & drinks. The giant pretzel may have been the best pretzel I've ever had - so flavorful & soft, Other items that I really liked were the spaetzle, sauerkraut, schnitzel, red cabbage, Austrian potatoes, cucumber salad, & nearly every one of their sausages. They have a good selection of beer & other drinks. I tried out a flight of beers before settling on one. The live music outside gives the place this great energy - the performers are great. Everyone who worked there seemed to enjoy being there & there was such a friendly vibe.  We have been to the Hofbräuhaus in Munich & felt a very familiar atmosphere although on a larger scale. We left after dinner to grab drinks somewhere else as it seemed crowded & other diners were waiting but I wished we had stayed & enjoyed drinks here till close as the other places were quite a few notches below the party here. This is the best restaurant I have ever been to in Pearland & hope to have my birthday party here soon. Parking can be tough so it may be best to arrive early to beat the crowd.

The fact that it was WAY out in the suburbs, has a car wash and auto mechanic shop in the same parking lot and has a cheesy entrance with the worlds "Best German Restaurant in the USA" should not deter you from trying out this place.  This was so good and so much fun.  The beers were great, the food and even the desserts were not the run of the mill!  The flavors in the goulash, spazles and other dishes (to include some amazing dip in their antipasti platter) was absolutely delicious! The staff were friendly wearing cheesy German outfits just like the musicians were.  It was weird to hear sounds of Germany, Austria and other parts of that world...in Pearland, TX.  Go!  That's all I have to say.

I am still giving them 5 stars even though this time the bartender basically ignored us and only paid attention to groups of guys. I had to flag her down everytime we needed another beer or wanted to order food. Anyway, I have been back here a couple of times since my first review and I tried the spaetzle, austrian potato salad and the appetizer platter...all were great, I highly recommend the app platter,  the thin sliced pork and the corned beef were fantastic!!

I am German.  That being said, I was very skeptical about going to a place that was run by a Swiss and a Cajun.  However, I have been back a dozen times and love all the food placed in front of me.
They have live music Thurs-Sat, and they are pretty good.  If you go on these days, get there early because there is always a long line.. Worth it, however.
The one thing that does stand out is the strange, very costumey outfits the girls have to wear.  Really, you don't need to show cleavage, to be a German waitress.

Fun fun fun!  We get out to this place about once a month and really look forward to it.  My wife and I enjoy that you can go have a nice meal and listen to some live German music without feeling like your begin rushed out to get to the next client.  When we have friend visit we always take them here as it is nice to have a bit of old style European culture right here in our Pearland.

Not a fan of German-ish food, however my dining companion, AKA the Mrs., has been wanting to go here for some time.  Went here on a sunday afternoon and was promptly sat.
First impression?  These guys focus hard on the atmosphere.  The waitstaff are dressed in what would I guess would be considered appropriate garb.  The poor girls are required to wear cleavage revealing clothes.  Everything looks so very Austria-Germanic, tho I've no idea if it's authentic.
So anyway.  The waiter is very helpful, in talking me through the menu, tho Im too chicken and order something called "spaetzle", i think, which is basically chicken fingers that comes with 2 sauces.  Likewise I wimp out and get french fries and potato salad as sides.  The wife gets 2 of some sort of sausage or bratwurst or whatever they are called.
So anyway, the food is nice enough, a bit overpriced.  I imagine you're paying a bit extra for the ambiance/atmosphere.  We got an appetizer that was some sort of mixed creamed cheese spread that you dip the complimentary bread.  One of the sauces that came with the spaetzle was quite good, but the flavors were anything but german.  Asked the waiter, and yup, he confirms that it is indeed curry flavoured.

Ultimately, this place is at least worth trying once to see what they've got.  The service is strong and if you like staring at waitresses in the hopes of some cleavage popping out, this place is for you.

This place is a great time for groups!  We went with a group of 7 and had a blast!  The atmosphere is full on Oktober Fest with the staff dressed up and live accordian music.  The owner and his wife are extremely friendly and love seeing people have a good time.

The food is more Austrian than German but still delicious!  I go for the two sausage plate and highly recommend the spicy cheddar!  The potato salad side is a must.

I agree with other people who've mentioned the long wait times so go when you aren't in a rush.   Grab a beer at the bar and sit outside with some friends as you wait.  If you are really going for a good night ask for Das Boot, a five liter tall glass boot of the beer of your choice!  Sehr Gut!

Let me start by saying how fun and entertaining this place is! We usually come when we're in the mood to have a few beers and listen to their live German music.

The food is great too, though! Go for the spicy cheddar sausages, spaetzl, and potato soup. You can't go wrong.

The waits are pretty long, so I suggest calling ahead. The staff is typically really friendly - even though we had a bartender that was kinda rude to us the last time we went. But I've been here enough times to know that's not typical.

The owners are SO incredibly kind and go out of their way to make sure you enjoy yourself and have a good meal. Overall, great food, drinks, and entertainment.

A long overdue review. Even if your not German you feel as if your home when you visit this place. Here you will find the friendliest staff, these people enjoy being there and will do anything to make your experience just as enjoyable. The most authentic and delicious German food you have ever eaten. I have tried it all here and there hasn't been a dish that I did not like. And now the BEER, ahhhh the beer. Truly a great selection of fine German Craft Brews at this place. I've taken many friends here that were not beer drinkers and time after time I've guaranteed to find a beer here that they enjoy! 5 stars to the Biergarten! If you havent not visited this place yet please do so. The outside patio with heating and cooling ventilation is awesome and the live german music is always great to hear!

We have been here so many times and are in love.  The atmosphere is great and the beers are even better.  The food is good but it is the fun environment with german music that is the best.  Make sure you make reservations if you are going with a large group since space out on the patio fills up fast.

I love this place so much.  I think I'm working around to eating everything on the menu here, since it's only a stone's throw away from my weekly roller derby practice.  I'm completely new to German food though, but if this is representative of what good German food is, I'm completely sold.
I love beer, so I had to try the Paulaner hefeweizen, and I've never looked back.  This hefe is seriously one of my favorite beers.  There's also a great German beer selection on tap as well - I'm working on trying those, but I've heard they're good.  The food is consistently tasty, all of the sides are to-die-for (hello, Austrian potato salad!), and the streusel desserts are just phenomenal.  Definitely a worthwhile visit if you're in the area.

This place was packed on Friday night, up to the point that there's a 15 minutes wait for a table - probably since there's not much German restaurant in the area. Food is just Ok - tried the pork shoulder and different kinds of sausages - for me, Rudi in Houston has better version for both. I'd go back to try the stews though, they look pretty tasty in the menu. Parking can be a bit difficult, but you can just circle around the mechanic shop area to find additional parking. Didn't try the beers, but the menu shows a pretty good and extensive selection. My friend also said that they often organize poker tournament with buffet included in the price, which probably make this place even more attractive for Pearland folks.

We went here with Groupon on Christmas Eve. The food was excellent!!! Waitress was very helpul in educating us about the food and beer. The atmosphere was wonderful and the staff professional. The schnitzel was delicious....so light it almost floated on air. They were more than happy to accept the Groupon (which is more than most restaurants these days).

Voted best German restaurant for a reason this year 2012. If a brew is on your mind and you could use a beer from a far away land,  this is your stop. The kegs they keep vary slightly during the year but they keep the more popular ones on tap for us regulars. Spaten Optimator, in a litre mug, is my drink of choice here. The food is just what I would expect for a German place. Monster sandwiches, fermented veggies, and pretzels that will cure your cravings. The owner and his family are usually here in festive attire. Check their website or join their mailing list for a current list of events. The two mayors of the nearby towns were both present in October for the Oktoberfest celebration. Some nights or weekends there is a live band you must see the strongman competition as well. Friendly staff, knowledgeable beer babes, and a newly renovated patio. What's not to love?

If you want to get the feel of Oktoberfest when you are in south texas, then Kings Biergarten is the place to go.  The food was very authentic and delicious.  Try the Spaetzle and Noodles and large pretzels for sure.  I am a big fan of the Spaten on draft in large mugs but the rest of the family liked trying the beer samplers - which is a nice idea if you want to try several German beers.  The restaurant itself is kind of small, but there is an outside beer garden that was good sized.  The only negatives is that service was a bit slow to bring food and drinks, and we thought the apple strudel was kind of blah - everything else was really tasty though.  Definitely worth a visit.

Beer and sausage are two of the best comfort drinks/food life has to offer. I mean beer seems to be the cure for almost any ailment, mood, or life circumstance. And sausage just always seems to hit the spot no matter what. It comes in various shapes, sizes, and flavors and just always seems to get the job done. Kings Biergarten & Restaurant takes these wonderful treats, adds a traditional German/Austrian style and flavor, and creates a truly awesome dining experience.

Located in Pearland, Texas, Kings Biergarten is worth every second of the 45 minute drive. From the moment that you walk in the door you notice the waiters and waitress are dressed in traditional German clothing, Dirndl and Lederhosen (thanks Google). The staff were very friendly and our waitress took the time to walk us through the menu step by step. She described the extensive German beer menu, excuse me, bier menu (listed lightest to darkest) and she also took the time to describe each of the traditional German sausages. Given the fact that this was our first time, she even helped us find the sausage the fit our specific pallets. And I must say she was right on point. Now the best part is that they offer several different sizes of beers depending on how schwasted you want to get. They offer a 1/2 liter and 1 liter size mug. And they also have what is called the Das Boot, which is a 3 liter glass pitcher filled with whatever bier you desire for $35. I have never seen a bier that looked so plain sexy!

I went with the 2 sausage and 1/2 schnitzel plate and it was great. I ordered the polish sausage and the spicy chicken bratwurst and I was not disappointed by either. The polish sausage had a light but distinct flavor and the spicy chicken bratwurst had a mild spice with a tinge of sweetness. The schnitzel with a side of Jaeger sauce was unbelievable. The schnitzel was lightly breaded with a mild pork flavor (they offer chicken also). But when you added the Jaeger, which is a creamy mushroom sauce, it really made for an excellent combination.

Now lastly, please do yourself a favor and make sure to leave room for the apple or cream cheese Strudel. I had the Cream Cheese Strudel and I was completely in dessert heaven. It was rich, creamy, warm, and absolutely amazing. If you like cheesecake, you will love the Cream Cheese Strudel. And if you check-in on yelp, you get a free piece of Strudel after you order any entree.

I love that this place is in Pearland because it pretty much helped to put it on the map. There aren't many German restaurants outside of Houston and I'm so glad this one is in my town!

The food is really good, more of an Austrian style of food rather than German (grew up eating homemade German food from Oma), but still delicious! I love coming here for the beer and live music. On the live music nights it can get pretty crowded but that's what makes it fun! The people are loud and proud and thoroughly enjoy the music outside.

The outside patio is rather large and very well lit. There is a bar out there in addition to the one inside so don't worry, your beer will get to you quickly! I really love that the waitstaff are dressed in traditional lederhosen outfits, it makes it feel so authentic!

Each year, we host an Oktoberfest at our home. This year, we decided to have King's cater the event. We ordered food for 50, but ended up having far more than 50 people attend. However, we did not run out of food!! The food was great, the staff was accomodating and the service was excellent. We always enjoy dining in, but having it catered was just as good. Thanks so much to Philipp and his staff!

5 stars because I'm so happy to see that Pearland has this unique successful restaurant that people can gather at.
It can seem a little kitschy at times, but the staff is nice, the food and portions are more than enough and have good flavor. The patio is a decent size and well lit at night, and its adorable that they have live German music. Oh, and the beer selection is good too!

This is an awesome German restaurant kind of hidden behind a car wash on 518.  We stopped there just on a whim and everything we tried was wonderful. Great German beer, truly authentic bratwurst, very tasty red cabbage, schnitzel that was cooked perfectly and apple strudel that not only tasted home made but must have just came out of the oven.  We will definitely be back!

On the extreme eastside of Pearland lies a little, relatively unknown Biergarten...with traditional German beer and food. The good news is the food and beer are very authentic. The bad news is the food and beer are very authentic.

With whatever dish you order, which for me typically means some sort of Brat or Sausage, the food is greasy...as it should be. So even though I am enjoying the food and experience, some devil on my shoulder keeps reminding me that we are not in Germany on vacation and in no way, shape, or form should I be eating like this.

The beer is German beer...all German beer. So unless you are a huge fan of the Purity Law (which I am not) then the beers being offered will do nothing for you. However, if you are in the mood for a nice German lager, which I am in the mood for them every now and then (especially in the hot and humid summer that is Pearland/Houston), then you will find their selection very comforting.

The beer wenches are all very nice...as you would expect in a suburban city. They don authentic wardrobe, but lack the authentic knowledge of the beers they are serving. But then again...what do you expect from suburbia?

Great place to eat and drink, however...worth making a trip if you're ever on that side of town.

I'm not the biggest fan of sausage but my husband loved the beer specials and the large glasses the beer comes in and of course, the sausage choices! I liked the chicken options that were available and our waitress was super nice and helped explain all the menu items and recommended some great food!

The food was delicious. Portions were generous. No complaints. The service was wonderful. The decor is german kitsch mixed with Biergarten. Service staff costumes are cute dirndl style dresses. The only thing that made this visit less than perfect for  me was the temperature of the room. Very warm despite ceiling fans on high speed. It made the food cool very rapidly and blew the paper napkins all over the place.  I've experienced this same issue at different times of the year  so, it seems to be a constant. WInter is therefore my favorite time to eat there. I'd rather eat on the patio in my coat than experience the windstorm and heat. That being said, I will definitely be back for the food.

I love this place!  Nice patio, traditional German costumes on the wait staff, live German music, etc.

Lots of wurst to choose from and the schnitzel is great.  Order the Jaeger sauce with the schnitzel.  They also have a nice selection of German beers.  They are a little pricey , but I do not know anywhere else to get this kind of food, and the quality of the food and service is very good.

This place is as good as it gets in the Houston Area for German food right now. Good service and a balanced selection of German beer help the schnitzel and wurst that much better!

Was really hoping to get some really awesome food tonite but sadly had to dock a star off.

I ordered the beef goulash (i had this at the 'other' german restaurant, so wanted to compare)...This was the let down for me.
The stew itself was overly salty and the beef was tough. Spaetzle was ok.
The chicken wiener schnitzel was really good. The chicken bratwurst was really good. My wife liked the grilled bratwurst.
The atmosphere was great, live music etc. They sat us outside, there were a few folks smoking so that did bother us a little. Overall we will probably be back, i'll get the schnitzel.

I went here with my parents tonight. It was great! Very small and cozy. Kind of weird how it's part of a carwash, but whatever.

The service was friendly and quick. The food was very tasty. House wine was $5 a glass. I had the ghoulash soup. My parents shared sausages, schnitzel, sauerkraut, spaetzl, etc. The schnitzel was good. I thought the sauerkraut was great! We ordered the cheese spread appetizer - we loved it, but it definitely has a distinctive sourness to it. If you don't like pickles, you probably wouldn't like it... Apple streudel was good. One of my favorite parts of the meal was the coffee we ordered at the end - it's made with espresso and if you like strong coffee, it was amazing!

Overall, I really liked this place and would happily go back.

This place was packed last Friday night. We finally found a parking spot in the weird lot with the car wash and headed inside. It was not that packed inside and I toured the place to find out why- their outdoor patio was huge! It was also open to the main dining room and chilly outside so the whole place was cold. There was a musician out on the patio too. When he was on break, they turned on a very loud radio which was actually louder than the live music.

We grabbed a booth inside and were greeted by a very friendly and knowledgable waiter. Since it was our first time, he explained the menu and some of the unknown foods. We ordered a couple of drinks, mine being the Sweet Tea Vodka concoction which was tasty!

The centerpiece of this dining area was definitely the bar. Several guys were bellied up and laughing it up with the cute bartenders.

We ordered an appetizer to start, bread and dip which came out in 5-8 mins. It was ok, but when we were done, we waited another 30 minutes for our food. We had ordered the sampler for two, so we could try several different items. The waiter came by once to apologize for the wait and explained that there was a big group in front of us. We weren't in a hurry, so it wasn't a big deal, until the 2 women in the booth behind us, who arrived 15 minutes after us, got their food while we were still waiting. Hmpm.

The food finally arrived and the manager came over to check on us and apologized again for the wait. He offered free dessert too which was nice!!

The food was different but really pretty good! The cheese sausage was my favorite! The cream cheese struedel was also excellent!

    We were return!

    Quick and Dirty

    Hours: 11-10 Sun-Thurs, 11-12 Fri & Sat
Cost per person (for dinner + 1 beer)): approx $25
Best dish: A tie between the Hot Link and the Wiener Schnitzel
Best beer: Weihenstephener Hefeweissbier (trust me, finding this beer on tap is a real find). 1/2 L, $5.90, 1 L, $11
    Least favorite dish: Spätzle
Service: Very good. Like a good German bierhaus, employs an all female staff.
Location: Next to King's Carwash in Pearland
Fun Fact: Live Music on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, plenty of outdoor seating

I've had some good German food in Texas. Like, some of the best I've had outside of Deutschland. However, this was in New Braunfels, not in Pearland. So where is this peach of a place in Pearland? Oddly enough, next to a car wash.

My wife's family lives out in Pearland/Friendswood, so I have seen Kings out of the corner of my eye numerous times as we drove to their house. Nestled next to Kings Car Wash and The Pie Garden Restaurant (Is the Pie Garden Restaurant affiliated with Kings Biergarten? uncertain), this place serves some top notch food and even better beer.

When we walked in, we were promptly seated. Glancing around the restaurant, I noticed numerous photos of Austrian/German origin. Some photos were of stock German landscape: towns, gondolas, forests. Other photos were of Oktoberfest, including the obligatory beer maid cleavage shots. The staff were dressed comfortably, not rocking the beer maid look.

As noted earlier, Fri-Sun evenings at Kings means you'll be getting live entertainment. The performers, unlike the waitstaff, had lederhosen on. Sitting inside, the "oompa oompa" is a nice background to have.

I recognized most of the beers on the list, but had never tried the Weihenstephener Hefeweissbier. This beer was fantastic. Wonderful nose, excellent head, and a refreshing flavor perfect for a hot Texas afternoon.

My FIL and I split the King's sampler platter for two: 3 sides, half-order of schnitzel, 3 sausages. We had the hot link, bratwurst, wiesswurst, dumpling, spaetzle, and sauerkraut. I can't complain about anything I had. The dumplings were moist and flavorful, and very savory. The kraut was littered with bacon and wasn't overly vinegar-tasting. The hot link was very spicy and had a wonderful snap and kick to it. The spaetzle, while flavorful, had a rubbery texture that I didn't love.  The other two sausages were ok, but tended to get list amongst the other dishes. For example, I finished off the schnitzel but left the other two sausages.

Dessert: Fresh Apple Strudel. Hot out of the oven. Blue Bell. Worth it.

This place is great, and is apparently crowded on most nights. The sausages were good, but the sides and schnitzel were where it's at (though I'd include the Hot Link in this category). The beer? Worth the price of admission alone. Houston, this place is worth the drive.

A small and nice place. I had the pork Wiener Schnitzel sandwich. It was served on a Hoagie style bun with a pickles and a light mayo type sauce & you choose of sides. I got the french fries and they where done just right. The Oct Fest beer was served ICE cold.

A very good off the beaten path place to eat or just hang out on what looks like the start of a huge deck.
