This place was such an epic FAIL. Had to wait 5 minutes at least for a hostess to appear. Then when we asked for a table she said the dining room was closed for repairs. WTF. How do you repair a dining room that's set up with plates and silverware? She also told us ( us both being under 21) that the bar was open downstairs if we'd like a drink. FAIL.
Review Source:Not bad
Went to kdb with a huge party. Â Was impressed with the waitress, she took care of everyone well. Â The food was average though. Â Had garlic wings and cheesehead fries. Â I don't regret it, but wouldn't pick this place over other wing establishments.
The place is very loud as well with a lot of kids running around.
Hmmm....this place has me thinking. I went here last night instead of going to D&B after a buddy told my husband that this place was better in his eyes. Out first stop was the restaurant upstairs. The waiter was slow...so slow I never even saw him except for taking our order and handing us the check. He seemed so shy and would duck his head in & out from the kitchen but never would come over. His other tables all seemed fed up as well. The food was "eh". We had the boom boom shrimp which was tasty but lacked; I could have used some toast to eat it with. The margarita pizza had flavor but due to the huge chunks (eww) of tomatoes ever where the sauce was seriously watery; to the point where you couldn't even pick up a slice.
The game room was our next stop but we stopped at the bar first. It's a nice bar too, lots of seats and very nice bartenders who take very good care of you. Their drinks all have weird names and are a mid priced (around $5-$10 each) but its worth it for happy hour. The drinks were all tasty and loaded with alcohol; you wont find skimpy drinks here! I tried the Orangesickle, blue ice, dragon berry mojito, and a few others. All tasty; personally the dragon berry mojito is way too good to pass up.
The game room is seriously lacking! 1/3 of their games were broken and half of the ones that didn't have broken signs on them didn't work either; guitar freak didn't even have buttons. Everything in this place is old and beat up, apart from the bar. The downstairs area looks like a dark and dingy cave that happens to have a really cool bar. Some games they have- air hockey, basketball, football, skeeball, lots of shooter games, some interactive pilot games, and lots of ticket based games. Dave & Busters has all of these games plus more and their prizes are much much better.
If you're looking for overly loud live music & a cook bar then try it out. If you're going for games don't bother.
Putting the bit*h fest aside, the management here is good and was very quick at trying to make us happy. I recommend the bar here since it's a really cool addition to the place but dining in isn't an option (not for me anyway) and the games (since theyre mostly broken) aren't really an option either. Regardless, we stayed afterwards at their bar until close which says a lot.
I go here often because the atmosphere is so much fun. Â Yes, it's bar food, but it's GOOD bar food! Â There is a difference. Â The main reason why you should go here is because THEO is the bartender here now! Yes you remember Theo from 99.7 The Blitz - the crazy fun guy who kept us all laughing every day. Â Well, he and his crazy antics are here now! So go see Theo and enjoy this fun place.
Review Source:They have my beloved Great Lakes Christmas Ale on tap right now. They're in tune with my wants. I value this.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get the full effect here. No video games, no rides, no family fun. I got the quick drink and snack-at -the-bar experience before my FunnyBone Show next door.
Thanks to our bartender we narrowly avoided the nasty that apparently is the Asian Lettuce Wraps, but instead ordered the a-OK southwestern rolls.
There's no way around it. This is bar food. Best when consumed with drinks - or after a few.
Honestly, I'm looking forward to getting back to kick some ass at a few of those fancy games!
I've stopped in here a couple times for drinks and games. It's a giant cave of a room. There's a big bar on the first level, then down the steps you will find a second bar amidst the lights and noise of the games.
I think KDB is a pretty good time if you don't take things too seriously. You can have fun wasting an hour shooting zombies or racing pods a-la Star Wars. The drinks are sports bar quality, not bad, but not exceptional. In my experience the staff is friendly and eager to explain things. It's pretty fun, I'll probably go back, three stars.
I don't see why KDB has been getting bad reviews at all. I've been here several times and I've always had fun. It makes for a good, fun, dating place. My girlfriend and I come here and have dinner then play games.
The second floor of this two floor establishment has a nice eating area. The restaurant serves many different types of foods. I personally love their guacamole! Their burgers aren't bad either.
The first floor of the establishment has a great, fully-stocked, bar, a stage, many TVs, and many many many games. All kinds of video games and other games are on this floor.
KDB is a fun hangout. There's also a Graeter's Ice Cream right outside which makes for a great way to finish a fun night at KDB.
I've been here quie a few times, for a birthday back when it was Game Works and now often since it's become KDB.
I like the place, I just go for the games. The food is alright, the drinks are kind of pricey. If I get a drink, I only get one or two and by then I've spent 12 dollars.
I ask for patron margaritas on the rocks and I always get it blended...meh.
Buuut with friends it's a good time, I just like to hang out and play some games.
I enjoy it. I like the DJ on the weekends. Poor dude always looks bored, but plays a great selection of music, in my opinion.
I always go after 10pm when it is adults only, otherwise you have to deal with kids everywhere and well...that just isn't something I care to deal with. Usually most everyone is at the bar after 10pm so you can play any game your heart desires with no wait. Big perk for me!
I'd recommend this place.
I really don't know why this place is getting bad reviews. It's a beautiful, two floor arcade/restaurant/bar. It's a playground for kids and especially adults. There's actually two bars in there.
There are all kinds of arcade machines, some of which almost count as a ride. Most are old but they're still a tremendous amount of fun. Some of them harken back to the days when I was a kid. That's fine with me because it's still an experience you can't have at home. I don't care how dated the graphics look, or how low def the old rear projection screen is, I can't sit in a big jeep in front of a big screen and shoot at monsters with a machine gun at home. It doesn't cease to be fun just because my Xbox games have better graphics. It brings back memories and gives my little boy new ones. I've not even sure there are newer arcade machines to put in there. Arcades have gone by the wayside since the graphics on console games caught up with the arcades. It used to be you went to the arcade for awesome graphics you couldn't get at home. Not the case anymore but I still wish there were arcades around for the virtual reality feeling of the ones that are like rides.
There are some games in there I've never played too like Police 911 where you actually move your body to duck and hide behind cover, then jump out and shoot the bad guys. There's a lot of shooting games in fact and a lot of driving games with vehicles you ride in. There's also the requisite legal gambling games of betting tokens for tokens, the play a cheesy game to get tickets that if you play every day for the next ten years might add up to a mediocre prize machines, and the feed $10 into a crane game to never get a $1 plush toy or worthless jewelry scam machines.
The drinks menu from the bar is long and diverse. Many unique drinks I've never heard of and they're delicious. The restaurant has a lot of pretty unique dishes and the food is very good.
The down side is the prices are ridiculously high. You'll pay as much for one drink as you do for a meal at most restaurants. The food in the restaurant is as much for an appetizer as you usually pay for the whole meal at a normal restaurant of its caliber. I would go there a lot more if the prices weren't so obscene.
This place sucks! Very disappointed, if you want to pay $7 for a pint of local beer, go here! If you want to be rushed into ordering your food, go here! If you bring in a  toddler  and want two brain dead,  twentysomething idiots asking "would you like sit at the bar or in the restaurant?", then go here! I was so disappointed in the service, I only left a 10% tip. I will never go again.
Review Source:Nothing special here. They get a 3rd star because they have personable bartenders. Average bar food, higher than average alcohol prices, and games to play while drunk. Huge spot to go to if you're traveling in a large pack. Don't know why Gameworks closed but this is essentially its lesser clone. Little insider tip; this place operates at a loss just to be a space filler at Easton mall. When big anchor stores go under (Gameworks, Macy's, etc) the empty space causes tenants rent around that space to drop. If the operating loss is less than deducted rent income of surrounding spaces, you get KDB from mall operators. Go there if you like games, that's it.
Review Source:I came here on a first date at my date's request. I'm not big on playing games of skill or arcade type things because I'm terrible. I agreed simply to try something new. I had never been in there, even when it was Gameworks.
It was alot bigger than I anticipated. We sat in the bar downstairs and our server came over to take orders, I simply had a Strongbow which came right away, but it took my date's Guinness 10 minutes to arrive. When the server brought it, she explained that they were changing the keg. I ordered calamari which was the worst I've had in Columbus, it was just really rubbery and not really flavorful. My date had the chicken nachos and they were just OK. The bar and whole joint wasn't extremely crowded yet we had to literally flag down our server when we needed to be refilled. And then it happened again another 10 minute wait on the guinness , this time the explanation was "slowing foaming problem".
We tried to play some games but it was just not fun. Â
Sigh. There was live music that covered pop songs. At one point they played Bobby Brown's "Prerogative" and I knew it was time to go.
I come here to play a couple a couple of games and drink with friends. And the location does that "a-ok." Id have to say that 90% of the time this place is a ghost town. Which doesn't really bother me too much since i don't have to wait to play games i want nor do i have to wait for drinks as long. The way it works is you go to the front counter and put money on a game card. They have different pricing tiers to choose from and certain dollar values can give you a bit more points. They do have cards that run on a time limit, which i would suggest if you don't plan on coming back and only want to play for an hour or so. The bar is pretty extensive with what plenty of beers on draft and a large mixed menu, you're sure to find something to get the fun started. Drinks are a bit pricey but that's to be expected from Easton. As far as i know most of the games are in good to decent working order. If they have anything wrong with them the tech staff is moderately quick to get the repairs started if not fixed right away. I've been going to KDB (Gameworks) for years and i've never had a bad time there. I happen to like it more than Dave & Busters. Now go play some games.
Review Source:I feel the need to update my old KDB review and give them one extra star because the bar staff has greatly improved since my last visit, they seem to have repaired a lot of the games to the best of their ability (joysticks and buttons actually WORK on Tekken 6 now!!), and two of the pool tables upstairs are free to play now. I'm definitely feeling that, and it'll end up dragging me back in more than once every few months.
I ended up shooting the shit with one of the employees who turned out to be a big fighting game player himself, and word is that they're working really hard to get more current, updated games on the floor. I like the sound of that. Hopefully they change for the better, as it used to be a real blast to kick it at Gameworks.
I have never been to the games section of KDB or Gameworks at this location, but I've stopped in to get a bite to eat in 2007 and in 2011. Both times, SO LACKLUSTER.
Why do they bother serving drinks and/or food if the service and the food tastes like it has been re-heated from a Lean Cuisine ready-made packet? The spicy penne is a poor-man's Italian concoction, and the blackened mahi sandwich lacks true seasoning and any juice or sauce to add moisture (even on the side would be better). The mixed drinks are somewhat acceptable, but I am not sure if they are mixed properly because the punch hits you about 30 minutes after dinner.
This could be SUCH a great location for birthday parties or first dates, but it's just done so poorly that it really makes you wonder if they (management) are even trying.
I've been to D&B's before, circa 2006, and it was 10x this experience!
I want this location to try harder to be part of the coolness that is Easton. As it stands, I think that the way this establishment is run makes them less of an asset to the Easton family. A place like this, across from the Comedy club, should be hopping on a Saturday weekend. Instead, it looked like it was about to go out of business.
Our first time to this biz with it being under new ownership. I went with my husband and two other couples on a Saturday night. It was not crowded and the staff was super awesome! Between the three women that were playing games, we ended up with a lot of tickets. I got a giant pink tennis ball and we were playing volleyball with it when we ran out of money from playing games. You could easily spend $100 trying to collect enough tickets to be able to "afford" a plastic dinosaur (we all got one for our men) but you will have fun doing it. I think the staff made it better by accommodating us if we had an issue with one of the machines, they would give us a few free games, or make some extra tickets come out. I hadn't laughed that hard in a while.
Review Source:How is this different from Gameworks (which was in the same space before KDB was there) ? Did they change the menu or something (I've never eaten there)? All the games are the same except they have  a few more ticket games and took out my favorite japanese drumming game. Also they have recently replaced the air hockey tables with smaller air hockey tables which I like less. They are made of metal and make a 'plink-plink' noise when the puck hits the rim. I think the place has adult-only nights and some specials.
Review Source:First impression: I'm stepping in to the old Gameworks, slightly rearranged with fewer customers and less noise. Otherwise, it appears exactly the same. $10 for 60 credits.
Pros: I was there at 7pm on a Sunday. It was dead. All the games to yourself.
Cons: Despite being dead, 5/6 of the bathroom stalls I looked in needed attention. Also, the gameroom area was hotter than Hell. Considering the current weather, we had on way too many clothes to be comfortable.
First, my review.
Visited KDB for the first time and found it looked pretty much exactly as it was the last time I was there when it was Gameworks. I figured what the heck, and went in to look around. I asked the front desk if they were still redeeming GW cards, but they apparently stopped that after the first couple weeks.
The first thing I noticed was a lot of the games that were there before were still there. Some games are grouped together in new sections, but they're the same exact games. Some of the larger games are missing like the 8-way sega racing, the virtual baseball and soccer - but most of my favorites like drummania, taiko drummer, afterburner, and mariokart were missing too. This was a pretty big disappointment as most were the main reason I would visit. However, they have added a handful of new redemption games which should make the young ones happy.
They've moved and cleaned up the prize redemption area considerably and it's more of the new Dave & Busters style. It seems overall more clean and inviting. Oddly they have the old ticket games area roped off with games that are on but are inaccessible with no real indication why the area is not available. I'm guessing they're still remodeling, but they've been open for almost 3 months so I'm not sure why something wouldn't finished or at least signs indicating what is up and with the games in the area unplugged.
I was really surprised for being "new", the place was pretty barren with maybe a dozen people total in the entire place. Granted, it was a weeknight. They seem to have added more TVs and the bar area is more sports-focused with large screens showing different sports and different games in various sections.
From what I saw in the menu, it is also very similar to what it was before - your standard bar fare. I wasn't in the mood for bar food so I didn't have a chance to try anything, but I can't imagine it could be much different.
So, satisfied after looking around, I went and purchased some credit. They have the same setup where you have to buy a card for an extra $1, but they give you credits pre-loaded on the card to compensate.
I played mostly the newer games, one being the new operation game, which broke twice. The card scanner deducted the credit from my card but never triggered the game. Off we went to find and hit up the tech to see what was up. While they were more than happy to replace the credits without hassle (much to my excitement), nobody really knew who should have been doing it. Apparently they used to do it at the bar but they started getting in trouble for doing it and it was coming out of their register, they couldn't do it at another remote station and that person didn't know why but didn't want to do it at their station either, so they had to go all the way upstairs to get them to do it. Just odd that they don't have a process in place after 3 months.
The arcade area was incredibly hot, and just 20 minutes downstairs I was ready to go. It may have just been a heating fluke as it was the first really cold day we've had in some time, but I can't imagine what that would be like with a crowd of people and being so hot downstairs.
Overall it seems like there is an opportunity for KDB to grow the location and get better if they can maintain the equipment better than gameworks had in the past and continue to remodel and get a variety of new games at the location.
Now, my rant.
I am still really, REALLY pissed at Gameworks for ripping me off the day before they closed when they knew they were shutting their doors the next day. I've still not had anyone contact me from GW about a refund and it's been months.
It was hard to not immediately project this onto KDB and honestly the first thing I thought was that KDB was just a re-branded GW. I couldn't help but go home and do some research. Turns out, KDB is run by the Trifecta Management Group, headed by... guess who... old gameworks executives. (insert blood boiling sound effect)
Keep in mind, the Columbus location was one of the most profitable GW locations in the country, yet they still closed. Read for yourself: <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dispatch.com%2Flive%2Fcontent%2Fbusiness%2Fstories%2F2010%2F07%2F03%2Fgameworks-managers-prep-similar-concept.html&s=25899ab72fb25b0169f5f49a81590f7e720b38e0dd135c55efdca5c16ff6850e" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.dispatch.com/…</a>
Trifecta swears they had no ties to the Easton GW location when it closed, but it's really hard to believe there isn't some shady stuff going on here considering the last few KDB locations have spun up exactly like this.
So, It appears that KDB sweeps in right after a GW location closes, reuse most of the games, and re-brand the facility with little change run by the same people who probably built it. It's hard not to think that there isn't some buddy-buddy arrangement with existing GW managment since they're all old GW veterans and they conveniently sweep in the days after a closure.
Research for yourself, but they've got a lot to prove before I'd ever trust them with a balance on a card or a party reservation ever again.
OK, KDB is back up to three stars because of great customer service. Â
I asked them via their Facebook page about the raised pinball prices referenced below. Â KDB asked me to contact them via email, and then said they had fixed the problem. Â Furthermore, they want to send me a free game card for pointing out the issue! Â How about that?
I heard from an inside source that KDB does not currently have the budget to buy any new games. Â While this is sad and disappointing, at least they seem to be working to please the customers they do have.
Don't be fooled. KDB is just Gameworks with their old signs switched out for new KDB signs. I can't tell you how disappointed I was when I saw this. Basically they kept a lot (almost all) of the games, and all the same tables, chairs, flooring, and carpet that gameworks had and just rearranged the games.
The game card prices are displayed above the front counter. There's a dollar activation fee on your fist card, but they give you 5 extra credits for it. So, that makes it fair. We went on a Thursday at 5:30 to take advantage of their advertised happy hour (half price games, apps, and drinks). Sounds great right? Well, not so much because they weren't having the specials start until the next week. That's funny since there were banners everywhere displaying the special. So, I get a drink anyway (a pin apple upside down martini, $9) and the bartender did not know how to make it (she told me she didn't know). Let's just say I could have thrown my money in the trash and had a better experience. I didn't order any food, but the two burgers I saw come out looked just like Gamework's old food-mediocre).
The overall look is less kiddish, and arranged more arcade style with similar games group together. However, being that most of the games are old a lot of them still were malfunctioning. Two games we tried to play didn't even work and one I wanted to play was out of order. We had to search to find a worker to refund our credits.
I didn't get to see the bowling area as they didn't have that area open yet. (This was a week after the GRAND opening). I'll probably go back to try the food once they get their act together and actually have the specials they advertise. For now, I'm going to stay away until the kinks are out of the system (if that ever happens).
